Nice looking model. And if you manage transition to horizontal flight that would be truly amazing. I am subscribing to witness that event..awesome work…
He won't. I've been watching him for ten years. None of his jets can transition. This one will only hover. All the jets he builds for the next ten years will only hover.
Well done. That was a great video.I love your model and what you’ve done with it.The Harrier Jump Jet is one of my favourite all time planes.Keep up the great work you are doing.👏👏👍👍👌👌
Was so long waiting for that, to see a RC Sea-Harrier with jet's doung vertical start's and landing, and as visible the outlets below the wings are moving, so the transition is coming soon👍 Just WOW, hat down, 👍
Nice work indeed! Really looking forward to seeing how this project progresses. I tried to build a 1/8th semi-scale Harrier for a couple of years in the mid-1980's using a Rossi 60 powered ducted fan, and foam/balsa/ply construction to keep the weight down. It flew very well in a fully conventional configuration, and it could lift itself when configured for VTOL, but with the technology of the time controlling a hover was like balancing a pencil vertically on your hand, transitioning from the hover was simply impossible! The best I ever managed was going from conventional flight to about 60 degrees of nozzle and maintaining that for a short circuit at what was probably below stall speed.
@@Joelmelanie I wish I did, but we're talking maybe 5 years before the early "camcorders" became widely available so casual filming wasn't a thing at all. There was a "montage" of photos from the 1983 Woodvale Rally in the UK magazine RCM&E later that year, and that had a tiny shot of my Harrier in hover mode during an evening flying session
It won't. I've been watching him for ten years. None of his jets can transition. This one will only hover. All the jets he builds for the next ten years will only hover.
Wow, that's amazing. Can only imagine how hard it is to fly without the sensory feedback of a pilot in the real thing. Hopefully you stick a pilot figure in there when it's finished.
That is amazing, bloody well done!! To make it super realistic can you get it to dump a load of kerosine and all of its weapons into a pond before it can land?!? 🙂
Original was a design classic... one incredible power plant, for a unique air frame. This one has impressed me also. Hope it will translate to forward flight, keep up the good work, Empire Test Pilot School colours/markings.would be a thought.
How about you make one that can transition and fly like the real thing? I've been watching you for ten years you've never made a fully-functional F-35B or Harrier that is a true STOVL jet. Why won't you make one that can transition and do everything the real one does? There is at least one other builder who made a fully functional F-35B. It's not as detailed as your but at least it doesn't just hover around like a ballon. If you can't figure out transition then bring someone from PX4 or ArduPilot who can get the job done. I'm tired of watching nothing but hover hover hover.
@@gutsymovies hey man don't be silly ya he is trying this for almost 12 yrs still he is doing this with much failures, you know 2 fully built harrier prototypes were destroyed during flight tests , because this is a complicated design & especially vtol is not easy subject of technical designs even many other teams like "flitetest" RC enthusiast has failed but yet he is trying this vtol harrier in this model the "COG" must be properly controlled or it will surely end in failure, let's see don't discourage him.
@@BharathwajK he made probably 30 different models that can only hover. Yeah get the cg right that is on ANY aircraft. He doesn't have a scale jet that can transition because he gives up before he even tries.
@@gutsymovies actual here another reason is batteries, the batteries don't last long more than 15 minutes due to high power consumption of the 130mm EDF,where he lags the most
Absolutely amazing Joël! Hope one day to see a full transition flight of this machine• the configuration of the Pegasus looks a bit les complicated than the F35B with its swiveling exhaust combined with a lift fan…
Hi Joel. I love watching your videos. Your models are fantastic. I've been reading some of the comments about the jet transitioning to forward flight. I am not a model maker, so I don't understand the technical side, but what makes it so difficult to achieve transition? Is it that electric motors don't have enough power?
The hard part, I have crashed the Harrier for many times in a normal flight setup. So for transition I need a proven flying setup. And than we need power offcource and a stable computer who can handle all that. But we’re close😃
It won't. I've been watching him for ten years. None of his jets can transition. This one will only hover. All the jets he builds for the next ten years will only hover.
Roll, edf in tip of the wing, pitch thrust differential front and back, like a Drone setup in plus configuration, but main thrust from the 128mm schubeler
Another builder has but not Joel. I've been watching him for ten years and none of his jets can transition. This one will only hover. All the jets he builds for the next ten years will only hover.
Not none @gutsymovies, the kestrell over 100 transitions, rc jetprint more than 40 transitions done in 2024, but the Harrier never, No one in the world did transtition with a functional Pegasus
@@Joelmelanieso you made what... 50 jets now and only two of them transition? What is the point of all these jets that can only hover? Don't tell me it's a problem of power. If you can climb on hover power you can transition. Wing flight takes LESS power than hover. Why all these jets that can only hover? It's BORING.

None of your jets are fully functional STOVL like the real thing. They can hover, and sometimes you built a CTOL jet, but in the ten years I've been following you I've never ONCE seen a fully-functional scale jet that can transition in and out of wing flight. Looking at so many of the comments here seems I'm not the only one who noticed this. Get someone else on your team who has the guts to develop the ability to transition but you won't do it. The next ten years just hover hover hover. What a waste.
@Joelmelanie yes I could. Others already have. I would at least try. You don't even try. You get to 90% and stop. This jet will only hover. So will every jet for the next 10 years just like the last 10 years. You will never build a fully functional STOVL jet.
Maybe renaming your channel might be a good idea to create more audience you deserve. Never saw your wife on all your videos so what's the point in the channel name?
Looking very promising Joel, i hope you'll get it done next year, i really would like to fly a functional harrier one day...
I will do my best, and for the first time we have powerrr

Good to have you here 😃
You dont have to Watch my friend, but did you saw the F-35B and kestrell? Both transition many times
Incredible, a 1960's jet design that's taken over 55 years to perfect in a flying model format.
Amazing, what a skill this person has to get this off the ground LITERALLY!
Well done, so beautiful and wonderful sound!
wow, flight looks so real, good job......
Awesome job Joel, this time i thought a real turbine is inside 🤩🤩
It's amazing to see you back developing the Harrier again, great progress, and power looks great. Well done and keep up the good work!
Thats some accomplishment. Hats off to you!
Thankyou so much, its super difficult this project😇
That is bloody brilliant. I want one
Seen the real thing back in the day , This was as realistic as it gets .
Looks awesome, many hours have been spent, she’s going to look phenomenal once finished, all the best 👍💪

That's absolutely beautiful! Maybe you could also recreate the 'Flying Bedstead' that was essentially the experimental predecessor to the Harrier. 🤩
