My brother would have loved this ,he was a porkpie hat guy...unfortunately he passed away last year due to a seizure disorder he had lived with his whole life.
He wore one on stage at all his gigs along with a pair of 80's wave runners sunglasses black on black.

Very well said, I have been carving and tooling leather for years, so often people ask me how to do this, and all I can do is tell them by the basic tools! A pencil and paper, learn to draw, after that spend thousands of dollars on leather to learn how to carve and tool! And in maybe 10 years you might know what your doing! Great video!

Tony, love the intro, Love the humor and setting customer straight!.
I'm new to leatherworking and glad I found your patterns. They are well thought out. I have been a sewer for years but new to leather some of the skillsets and pattern reading have helped. I've been watching many of your videos to learn the craft. It is so true paying attention to the details in the instructions is very important. Yet no matter how careful I am making one of your patterns, the result won't look like yours because experience shows. I find myself pausing and backtracking and restarting your videos so that I can watch some of your stitching starts so I get it right. I watch projects I may not make because there is always something to learn from them. Thanks so much for your patterns and tutorials!

Wow. I have watched hundreds of artists on TH-cam and studied with a few in person. I made a few things in leather, and taught many about this craft.
I learned so many things in this one video of yours I have never seen before.
Bonus - learning about aluminum wire for structure. I've seen it in other crafts. Never thought about it here.
    Thank you!

  • @mcgothbox1

First I bought your pattern, thanks. when i stick things like this together i use small bits of aluminum wire or thin twist tie wire and gently place temp holder stiches in place that i remove as i go to help keep it from flopping around on me and getting out of wack. it works great on holsters.

I have been out of doing leather work for many years. After doing a few Tandy kits I tried one of your purse for my grand daughter. She loved it. Since then I have made two more different patterns for my other grand daughters and sent them to them. They again loved them. My daughter doesn't believe that I had cut and sewn them from sides of leather. Will be doing more of your patterns until I get really good with the leather from Tandy before doing them with a better quality of leather.

Tony, I don't think that could have been said any better. I started with leather work in November of 2019, I have bought maybe 5 or 6 of your patterns, and though my skill level nor experience is anywhere near that of yourself nor most of the people watching your tutorials, my work still looks fairly good, all due to the fact that I stick to your patterns and follow your videos. I, for one, have no complaints what so ever. Thank you for you content.

That was the best video opener ever! That being said I just finished my plague dr.'s mask. Your pattern was excellent. The mask looked beautiful and made me appreciate how starting with a fully thought out and designed pattern can make a project go so smoothly. Everything lined up. The mask took shape as I assembled it. So thank you for your excellent pattern and your great tutorial videos. They have helped me improve my craft.

I bought the pattern, I did not follow along, I thought I knew I better, I created an abomination sized for a circus monkey, he does not care. I wished he sold years of experience, I'd pay extra for it. All of this being said I'm very happy with my misshapen tiny hat and look forward to destroying my next project, I hope I have half as much fun with his world's best looking top hat pattern I'm saving up for. I also want the tentacle face thing for when I ride my motorcycle and the pin cushion....how cool are those. Dude's also inspired my to make my own pattern for a motorcycle bag.... Great channel.

Tony....bought a pattern ...made the hat & all worked fine.the video was clear, easy to follow, & being an experienced leatherworker the final product looked perfect. My problem with your patterns are all the cutting ,taping, and jig sawing the parts together. Careful cutting & assembly is the key to success. The problem is the time it takes to do all that. The only advantage is the pattern is received immediately via print out. If you offered your pattern with all parts already on precut plastic where all one had to do was lay the pattern on leather, cut it out & sew it together you would increase sales of your many great designs. Yes there is the cost & wait for shipping but the time saved of cutting taping, assembly, etc. is worth it. I for one would have no trouble making my own patterns from your designs but if there was the option to buy them in plastic I wouldn’t bother. Anyway you are an excellent teacher, make the best videos on leather working, and a fine craftsman from whom I have & will keep learning a lot... thank you.

I have been making small leather items for three years now. Thanks to your patterns AND tutorials I have learnt more about leathercraft in past 6 months than I did within the previous 2,5 years.
Your patterns are GREAT, and if there is a "mistake in the pattern" I have realized that it is of my own stupidity, rather than the patterns fault. 😂
Actually just finished the first of the Legendary explorer's backpacks today and it looks amazing! I have at least 5-6 of your patterns lined up, waiting to hit production. So thank you Tony, for very good patterns and entertaining, yet educational videos.
ONLY thing I would like you to fix in the pattens is that sometimes holes are tough to see from the makers marks in the pattern. But like I said.. if I miss it, it is MY fault, not because the pattern is bad.
    Keep up the good work!

OMG! So you're telling me that buying a $10 USD pattern from your store isn't going to give me the skills needed to successfully create and modify your patterns to make the greatest leather objects in existence???
(sadly, I am familiar with these people, usually it's the end product buyer that thinks they can just buy a $10 USD pattern and make the exact same product one is selling for hundreds more)
BTW, your patterns are AWESOME Tony!
