a helpful hint for ryan, the way to remember the late 2000s phillies mvp run is it goes howard mvp (2006), rollins mvp (2007), world series win (2008) (and then we don't talk about what happened after that) also, would have probably taken orioles javy lopez to leave 2023 acuna on the board which is i think 383 total bases
Salvy has 9 All-Star selections, 5 Gold Gloves, 5 Silver Sluggers. All the n about 10 seasons worth of games. He’s been incredible. Extremely underrated and not talked about enough. Not even a Royals fan just respect his game
I’m sure he would not have been the best Mariner by any means but ‘04 Ichiro is a sneaky “oh yeah, I would not have thought about him” pick. 320 bases, and while it means nothing, *262* hits on the year, with only 37 of them being of the XBH variety (and no Silver Slugger that year, losing out to Manny, Vladdy, and Sheffield with Victor Martinez being the “utility” slot since Pudge won for the catchers)
As a Canadian, Jolly butchering the tune of O Canada was offensive....but not as offensive as the time when Dalton sang "My Hero" by the Foo Fighters and said "Watchin' as he goes," instead of "watch him as he goes." That still keeps me up at night...damn youths.
I always love when a rockie makes it on the list as a best possible option because usually i see how the people from here are like idk if i know any rockie that fits (incert cat) they are really bad
Hearing Jolly say AJ Ellis made me so happy. Legit is my 2nd favorite player (Kersh is my first). First time I cried for baseball was when they traded him for Ruiz
Moneyball is a very good film but they kind of glazed over the fact that the team had Zito, Mulder, Hudson, and Tejada .... who were massive parts of their success.
The amount of times all three of them miss a 50/50, then jolly goes “I know the year” and then manages to get it wrong bothers me so much with how many drafts they have done

Bonds 2001 season is one of the two best when it comes to actual bases. If you add TB + BB + HBP + SB - CS = 607. Ruth in 1921 was at 610 with one less game. The issue is double plays. Bonds hit into 5 but we don't know how many Ruth hit into. Also not sure which bases were lost on the caught stealing. Ruth was caught 13 times and Bonds only 3 times. Getting caught stealing home or third is not the same as second. Ruth also gave himself up with 4 sac bunts - Bonds had 4 for his entire career (and none that year). He did have 2 sac flies that year but we don't know about Ruth.
I missed that little note that it is post 2000. Otherwise here is the best all-time. It bothered me so much seeing Shoehi through the whole video thinking I didn’t know how it was spelled and then it switching to Shohei at the end. I had to go to google and make sure I wasn’t crazy.
As a White Sox fan, I don’t think even I could name a good 2B season (It’s def not Gordon Beckham lol). But I’ll just throw this out here again: 2006 Jermaine Dye: 335 TBs. Jolly still probably would’ve lost, but still better than his Trout and Santander picks!
Step 1: the guys institute a "No Bonds" rule, assuming he's far and away the best answer and basically a cheat code Step 2: the guys realize that when it comes to total bases, Bonds isn't actually the best possible answer or a "cheat code", because of how often he got walked Step 3: the guys overcorrect and decide just not to draft Bonds, even though he's still an extremely good answer
I have seen Javy Lopez play, hundreds of times, and he was 10000000% juicing, just like everyone else. You really think he’s those HUGE seasons were legit? It’s just as bad as Barry Bonds in that sense as well

always silly when i hear "you've never even watched him play". why do some young people just disregard everything that happened before their life lol. especially a sport like baseball with such a long history.
Jolly, Dalton and Ryan is the best trio for this imo
For this game, yes, for top 30, it’s Jack, Zo, and Shelfy
jolly ryan and jake might beat it out for me but you can't compare peak with peak
Jolly losing the draft after his 2nd pick before the other two had even made 2 picks was really impressive
a helpful hint for ryan, the way to remember the late 2000s phillies mvp run is it goes howard mvp (2006), rollins mvp (2007), world series win (2008) (and then we don't talk about what happened after that)

“He averaged 305.3” still wrong, you guys drafted 9 players not 10, so he averaged 339, Dalton 346, and Ryan 357

I want Jolly to know I watched Javy Lopez hit a pinch hit 3 run home run against the Mets in 2003 at Turner Field. He was a monster that year.
MVP baseball 2005 was the GOAT of games. thanks for the trip down memory lane Lucas
a man of culture right here
Load up the team with Carl Crawford, Todd Helton, and Miguel Cabrera and then go cook 🔥
Real ones remember the immortal Jon Dowd and spammed Pressure Point by the Zutons.

Loving the fall chic there Jolly
I know logistically it would be hard, but having Chris Rose hop on a few trivia videos throughout the year would be awesome.
As a Braves kid growing up in the 90s, Javy Lopez was a beast. Juiced like crazy, but still a beast.
love this trio for everything

Can we get the teams on the screen as they go cos i cant remember which are still on the board!
Moneyball is a very good film but they kind of glazed over the fact that the team had Zito, Mulder, Hudson, and Tejada .... who were massive parts of their success.
The movie ignored or changed many elements of what really happened.
?? But Hatteberg played 1st base 😂
5:09 I won’t stand for this Rupp slander
The MVP Baseball 2005 reference makes me so happy
My favorite baseball game of all time. That and backyard baseball.
Jolly looking Great in that fall flannel
I understand not picking bonds for these guys, but you should mention that he had 411 bases in 2001
Watching Javy Lopez play was a joy to behold.
Howard won ROY in '05, MVP in '06, and JRoll in '07 come on Ryan!!!
Should do this by decade going back in time. At least for the 90s and 80s
Honestly Ryan needs to be on all of these episodes.
The amount of times all three of them miss a 50/50, then jolly goes “I know the year” and then manages to get it wrong bothers me so much with how many drafts they have done
I adore Lucas cam
So is this just since 2000s, bc I was sure Ruth 1927 was getting taken.

Dalton should’ve taken Mayer and then Lopez for his DH and screwed Ryan over on catcher. Would’ve been a smart move

God damn Trout walks a lot
I know the no Bonds rule, but is there a no Judge rule too? They keep going back to the mid-2000’s when Judge or Witt in ‘24 just happened.
Vladimir Guerrero with nationals eligibility seems like a missed opportunity
Same with Soriano’s 40/40
fThe fact that Ryan's worst pick was 314, and also happened to be a catcher
I've never seen have looez play. Does he even exist?
Jolly is so bad at these that it makes me convinced he’s throwing on purpose cause he’s actually really good and would just win every time if he tried
Ryan is so handsome
Why isn't 2001 Bonds on the best lineup?
Also the wrong melody to "Oh Canada!" by Jolly there
Jolly going for Carlos Delgado, getting the year right, and only having 338 is why he is the worst at this game 😂
Still love you though Jolly!
Errors draft. Make it happen.
“Shoehi”
Maybe a hot take, but the all-time draft should also be based on years, not a player’s entire career
3053/9=339.2 not 305.3
I have not seen Lopez play
need a new one starting backwards with nl central and your doing people who walked the most in a single season or who strikeouts the most

I hate the no bonds rule
He did have a lot of walks. Without looking it up I don't think he would be a top TB guy post 2000s
@@WalkoffGrandslam2001 (the only year they would pick) he had 411 lol. walks dont matter that much when 73 hr alone gets you 292 total bases
@iamjp1 well then... 411 is a lot of TB. I stand corrected
Step 1: the guys institute a "No Bonds" rule, assuming he's far and away the best answer and basically a cheat code

Take Oriloes Javy to take '23 Acuna.
Jolly really hates Javy Lopez
You mean javy Baez play according to Ryan
It's time to move on from stats that reflect good overall hitting. I would like to see hitter strikeouts or pitchers wins/saves next.
