Went to angels games all the time from early 2000s on and garret Anderson was always loved by fans here. Pretty much like Tim Salmon, he quietly performed and was a team player. LA always looked for a second star after the WS title but garret was so good. The angels have had some great outfielders in the past couple decades
I love seeing Jimmie Foxx get picked, dude was an astounding hitter who gets lost to time. With some of those early years you might even be able to land him at catcher. Underrated player who was viewed as the right handed Ruth of his day.
Mauer also had 2100 literally the same as Campanella and there's better historic twins hitters that he wanted like a Harmon killabrew than there is on the dodgers
@리세2-d2k I was it's early here. And not really considering jolly also picked the wrong catcher and that was 1000 as well and he wanted killabrew who had 4100. No dodgers player he would of took woulda came close to that. He just waited too long and dalton took rod before he could grab him.
He could do it all. He hit the ball hard and he hit the ball often. He ran the bases extremely well. He fielded great. The most real 5 tool player of all time.
Hank Aaron always seems to be underrated in these drafts - like, outside of hits, he should've been basically the #1 pick everytime by default, but everybody tries to get cute.
bWAR draft next. Would be interesting to see teams that are created on the overall player and could lead to some sneaky picks like Andrelton Simmons and Kevin Kiermaier make some appearances based solely on their defensive value.
I'd love to see a razz-style draft. Pick the least amount of (insert stat here) with a minimum of, say 100 games or 120 games played or something along those lines.
Hank is like the 3rd best player ever off of his stats and he was snubbed of multiple mvps because willie mays was more liked. Hank will always be underrated despite being one of the best players ever.
somebody tell ryan that everybody who has won 3 MVPs has done so within 10 years of each other (in fact, everybody has done it within 6 years except DiMaggio who did it in 8). Worded it that way to include Bonds' first 3 mvps over 4 years and his last 4 were, of course, consecutive
Hank Aaron was taken 4th, so noöne could have taken him after that, and Aaron had almost 2000 more bases than Jones, so it wouldn't make a whole lot of sense to pick the latter over the former
Harmon Killebrew, Twins Ryne Sandberg, Cubs Cal Ripken, Orioles Mike Schmidt, Phillies Henry Aaron, Braves Willie Mays, Giants Babe Ruth, Yankees Carl Yastrzemski, Red Sox (DH) Johnny Bench, Reds 44,197 Let me tell you it's so much easier to do it on your own
Of course it's easier, no one gets to take one of your picks before you. No way you get to take Aaron for instance unless you were lucky enough to have the first pick and you picked him first. And if you did, Ruth, Mays, Schmidt, Ripken and/or Bench would likely be gone before you picked again
How about a "No Team Restrictions __________" Draft. Throw out all the blocking for once and just have people grab the best of the best and see where they land.
Not a bad pick but he's only 5th for the twins all time, meaning there are 4 other guys from that team that would be better picks though of course, he's the best Twins catcher but there are catchers from other teams that are also better.
For these all-time drafts, it shouldn’t be the total amount of total bases someone has, each person should have to name a player and the YEAR. Think about it, how easy is it to name historically great players, no competition other than picking order. Just an opinion.
do managers and how many times they kicked dirt on a base or just kicked dirt in general + how many times they tapped cap brims with the umpire while yelling in his fat sweaty face
You should pick 10 players, 8 positions, 1 DH, and 1 utility(3 or more positions played). That way, all 30 teams are represented
i like this idea
Nah, some teams lack counting stats in their franchise history that i'd ruin end of games if someone was forced to take someone from like the Rays.
@@Carlos-uf8sobut Diamondbacks, Rays and Marlins all came around in the 90s so it would be even
I immediately thought that when they said 27 teams would be selected. like maybe even select a 4th outfielder instead of Utility

You gotta remember Pudge Rod. He didn't get a lot of homers, but he was a fantastic hitter who got a lot of doubles. Dude was fast for a catcher.
He also did hit a lot of homers, considering he was a career catcher who never moved to first, and ended over 300
what scares me is all the teams he played for
I think a single season WAR draft could be kinda dope. But yall really gotta know ball
I firmly believe if Dalt had to get 2.5K he would pick Zimmerman for 3159
