I don't want to criticize your analysis of that hand with 88 vs AA, but as I watched it live( obviously on delay) I noticed one major tell, that I haven't seen anyone talk about yet. The AA Re-raise amount. I've noticed that you like 1337, 13337 etc. in your own bets. I think he may have had that same read on you, and inverted the numbers on you to 7331 and you didn't catch that as a show of strength. Did you notice that on your reevaluation of the hand after the fact?
This comment needs to be higher. I also noticed this and I think this was a clear tell that Doug isn't getting a fold on the shove >= 20% of the time which makes the shove slightly to moderately bad.
Yeah, I watched that live, he correctly made the read of an over-pair, as did I, and still donked off his stack. ..like I'm bored I'll just throw away my 25k buy-in. I mean even a 9 beat him, ez fold to me.
everyone just chill the f out - it's not like anyone else who has played mtts hasn't shoved in a mediocre spot only to get snapped off by an over pair or set. it was probably a bad shove but who else had the balls to play a 25k bi mtt today?
@@shinchin4205 Ye I especially thought that when he raised all-in with his 88 when he even guessed his opponent had aces LOL, then just make the call and u can still see. But is best to bet right away on such a flop, to take it. If he calls he probably has a higher pair too and you can stilll fold afterwards... If you have good bankroll management you should only play such tournament when you got a 100fold that kind of money and I don't think that guy did.
Doug, I saw your thumbnail where it looked like you were holding your head. I thought you might have been hurt or something. Glad you're alright. Really had me worried there.
Just started exploring your channel, lots of good stuff, you obviously know what you are doing. Having to overlook the cockeyed hats and tank tops....but learning.

love your vids my dude ! you're killin it lol 1 part I thought was funny was, 14:25" what's this weak ass raise" lol also Polk: "Call" ... lmaooo I was dead
Chips in tourneys are too valuable to be 3betting so wide. Even from a GTO standpoint you're bluffing way too often to balance out. This isn't a cash game where everyone is 100bbs deep and you can play poker post flop. Stacks are much shorter here and playing GTO will simply lead you to spewing chips preflop and getting jammed on. Or post flop like with your 88
Thought most of his play was bad after his A7s loss in the middle of the video. Can't play a tournament like a cash game once the blinds and ante's get too large. His 66 raise call with 6x pot size in his stack was marginal at best. 3-bet KTs with small stack into the chip leader making pot half Doug's stack, raiser will almost always put him in. Just throwing chips away. 3-bet late-position raiser with ATo in SB with stack less than 5x the pot. All-in or fold Doug, there's no post-flop poker to play as the short-stack here. 88 play might be slightly positive EV in cash game, but no reason to risk your healthy stack here. Am I the only one that thinks this is basic tournament stuff?
gtwon I think it's basic tournament stuff but nothing more and this isn't a basic small stakes tournament. You have to defend aggressively against good players. The A7 hand is standard. You can see that villain has over 50% equity when his bluff got called. The more equity villains bluffs have the more you have to defend. By folding A7 there Doug is just gifting villain chips. Same with 88. Doug has to defend 45% of his hands against a 40% pot bet in a 3 way pot. Otherwise the Button is gonna make an imidiate profit by betting any two cards. 8d8x is a pretty decent hand to shove since it blocks the nuts and has decent equity against nearly every other hand if called. This might not be a cash game but the fundamentals are still the same and against good, aggressive opponents you can't ignore those otherwise you will be guaranteed to lose.
matty dodd are you talking to me? Cuz if you think so, back it up. Of course in $2 tournaments the opposition is different, but imagine the opposition was the exact same, would the spot be different then?
I love your vlogs and your demeanor ...great stuff.....Poker is not perfection. Work in progress..... I think u were tired as you even stated in your live feed when asked by a guest if you were stoned or exhausted and you conceded you were "1 of those" ~tired......and so 88 with that many bigs was a tired play. I learned a lesson from your experience. Thank you for sharing and dont take the negative criticism you will certainly get for it too hard. I can see taking that 88 with 10-15 bigs and doing what you did but that deep was a painfully frivolous move is all. That was a Ray Guy punt of 85 yards on 2nd down.~ with the benevolent bounce of course.
I want to DEFEND the 88 shove from all the CAPTAIN HINDSIGHTS that are criticizing it.... Let's compare CALLING versus FOLDING to simplify the analysis (we'll ignore the CALL option)..... If he FOLDS, he gets to play on with $54k...... so FOLDING is worth $54k..... So the question becomes IS SHOVING WORTH MORE OR LESS THAN $54K (we're ignoring the call option to simplify the analysis)? If he GETS CALLED after shoving, he still has 25% chance of winning a $114k pot, plus $10k behind.... that's worth $43k.... If he DOESN'T GET CALLED after shoving, he gets 100% of an $89k pot, plus $10k behind... that's worth $99k.... So SHOVING is worth....... (Probability of being called)*($43k) + (Probability of NOT being called)*($99k) If (Probability of being called) = 80%, then he should be INDIFFERENT between SHOVING and FOLDING.... as $54k = 80% ($43k) + 20% ($99k) If (Probability of being called) < 80%, then HE SHOULD SHOVE..... I believe that the the probability of Doug's shove being called was less than 80%...... Therefore, I believe that Doug made a good shove... I guess it was just his time to die.... Well played Doug!.... I love the videos!
Chokey McSqueeze not saying the push is bad but the analysis is flawed since chip EV=/= $ EV in a tournament so maximising you're chips is not the goal of the game.

crazy to think that I subbed when you were at ~10k subs like in may/june of last year and now you're almost at 100k! Keep it going baby ! (as Scottie Nguyen would say) lol it's good for poker when you're churning out the content...even better than increasing the rake 👌
that was well played til the 88 hand. that was a bit of a punt and i think you went cash game thought process gto this spot is a vacuum what is icm (yeah i know strictly speaking icm isnt really involved til deep in the money but lets just say, its always a factor in tournaments in a way). doug is an amazing player, much better than i, and hey i mightve played it worse cause i wouldve prob 3b pre and folded to the cold 4b and never gotten a shot at a flop and just burned chips anyway, but if i had dougs image and realized they realize im plying gto then this is one of the few times you can fold htat flop cause even if it doesnt smash any one persons range its wet as hell and, its 3way, hes never folding better because of your image and fuck even flatting and bluffing some run outs is better than just punting there IMO. id like to hear some advanced analysis on the hand from doug personally. and ya disclaimer my total earnings in tournament poker could only buy into this tournament and cover a rebuy if there was no rake, so dont say herp derp yt pro i get it
zach cannuli there was very little “good play” from Doug even prior to the 88 hand. He constantly raises out of position with marginal hands and checks/calls when he should bet/raise. Of course there were a lot of terrible players in that tournament that he managed success against, but I expected better play from a dude who dedicates his channel to poker playing
The 88 hand can be summed up pretty simply. Doug runs good and expected to hit his 6 outs for what would’ve been the likely best hand. First the guy needs to have an overpaid to call, and then Doug has 24% equity which for someone who runs well, probably wins almost 50% of the time
I called exactly how a few of these played out. Before it even played I called the last hand. Low cards on the bank vs queens 😂 Based purely on my luck if I was Doug 😭
Can someone tell me why, at 12:45 he shows the jacks pre-river? I think is an easy bluff after that move. He knows now how scared you are of A and Q, you can notice the overbet. I don't know, i didn't get it.

that was well played til the 88 hand. that was a bit of a punt and i think you went cash game thought process gto this spot is a vacuum what is icm (yeah i know strictly speaking icm isnt really involved til deep in the money but lets just say, its always a factor in tournaments in a way). doug is an amazing player, much better than i, and hey i mightve played it worse cause i wouldve prob 3b pre and folded to the cold 4b and never gotten a shot at a flop and just burned chips anyway, but if i had dougs image and realized they realize im plying gto then this is one of the few times you can fold htat flop cause even if it doesnt smash any one persons range its wet as hell and, its 3way, hes never folding better because of your image and fuck even flatting and bluffing some run outs is better than just punting there IMO. id like to hear some advanced analysis on the hand from doug personally. and ya disclaimer my total earnings in tournament poker could only buy into this tournament and cover a rebuy if there was no rake, so dont say herp derp yt pro i get it
zach cannuli there was very little “good play” from Doug even prior to the 88 hand. He constantly raises out of position with marginal hands and checks/calls when he should bet/raise. Of course there were a lot of terrible players in that tournament that he managed success against, but I expected better play from a dude who dedicates his channel to poker playing
What's with the headphones? What are you listening for?
what is this program he is using? (in poker)
Queens kings and aces are the ultimate set up cards on joker stars
Once again can you please tell me how stars allows you to play from America?
can someone pleas help me in how tu use the pockertrucker ?
i thought you couldn't get any cooler but then i saw you wearing that hat sideways
i love how you capitalize on isolation preflop !!! well played sir i hope we can play 1v1 one day
The 88 hand can be summed up pretty simply. Doug runs good and expected to hit his 6 outs for what would’ve been the likely best hand. First the guy needs to have an overpaid to call, and then Doug has 24% equity which for someone who runs well, probably wins almost 50% of the time
it was a bad bet he was probably just bored
And Charlie on the same table, noice!
I have only been watching till minute 9 and I have a big feeling this tournament has just been handed to you lol.does anyone else feel the same ? haha
wait, what did you win or did you bust before the money?
...and then he went on to win event #6 (111K buy in) of the one drop for 3.7 million like a month later.
That e-mail 😂😂😂
How long is the delay you had on this live stream? Just curious...
What's the 13337 bet size all about? He does it in a lot of his vids
I called exactly how a few of these played out. Before it even played I called the last hand. Low cards on the bank vs queens 😂
Based purely on my luck if I was Doug 😭
Can someone tell me why, at 12:45 he shows the jacks pre-river? I think is an easy bluff after that move. He knows now how scared you are of A and Q, you can notice the overbet. I don't know, i didn't get it.
I like how he has charlie tagged as a bad reg.
Doug likes the attention.
Lots of checks and calls with strong hands there.
Drink every time Doug says "Bros"
Is this all out of sequence?
