Hooker is a prime example of how the transfer portal has changed college football and made the SEC even stronger. The three best OBs in the SEC East this year (in terms of pro potential, so I'm talking Hooker plus Levis and Rattler) are all transfers who came into the SEC after beginning elsewhere. Hooker also shows how the portal can turn what traditionally would be a 4-5 year rebuild into a 1-2 year thing now, assuming Tennessee lives up to expectations and reaches the 8-10 win level.
Enjoyed your commentary. Hooker is an outstanding ambassador for our university and state. So proud of the man he, his A+ leadership and his development as a player. He is the kind of person that can lift a whole program off the mat and I’m pulling for him to do just that. First watched Hooker vs Bama.. he impressed me and their offense had some explosive plays. Their defense made some great stands too. I though Hendon was leaving to the draft but when I found out he was returning they became my favorite to win the SEC 2022. In that game, ge stayed composed through an always tough second half vs Bama.. made a lot of mistakes but just had such good command over the offense. You could tell he was completely in charge. This year they’re lighting it up

Tennessee is more talented, but can they get the Gators out of their heads? It’s been a mental thing for the Volunteers for many years, especially the years Tennessee were more talented. He will certainly be the 3rd QB off the board. Fantastic accuracy and really really good arm talent. Oddly enough he reminds me of the way Geno is playing right now. Just unreal accuracy and command of the offense. I make that comparison also because they stand in there till the last second and fire that ball in. Sometimes that results in sacks, because even though they have decent wheels, they don’t take off much.
i think that if Hooker can keep up his momentum from his first few games going into our matchups against Georgia and Alabama that he can be a serious contender for the heisman and end up going in the first round. he's hands down one of, if not the best dual threat QBs to ever come out of Tennessee and even make it really well in the NFL. possibly becoming a household name in the league

Hendon Hooker is my sleeper quarterback of the 2023 NFL draft. As of week 4, Hendon has thrown for almost 1200 yards, 8 touchdowns and 0 interceptions. For some reason this guy is not getting the recognition he deserves and that’s cool with me because my Detroit Lions need a quarterback to take over for Goff but we also need defensive players across the board. If Hendon slips to the second or third round, I pray my Lions pick him up. I think he’s a future superstar!

I once got into an argument with a Miami Hurricane fan after saying Miami should go after Hooker and move D'Eriq king to wide receiver or running back and he laughed at me and said Hooker was not good at all since he lost the Hockeye job. The upside that I see with this Tennessee program now is the development of the recruits...if u think back to 15 and 16...those teams on paper were suppose to be competing for SEC and National titles...Kamara, Hurd, Dobbs, j. Barnett the talent was there it just never developed...it's almost like Hurd and Dobbs regressed that last year together...and we can all agree Kamara wasn't used like he should've been, obviously lol.
