      He has a cannon arm but is not the most prepared QB to read the field. The question becomes does he learn to read the field, or how can we find some application for that arm? Maybe put in some packages where he either throws deep to Jamo or takes off running.

    Some of you guys need to get a grip. The whole breakdown of this video focuses on decision making. Hooker had a 69.6% completion percentage, with 27 TD passes and 2 INT. His two seasons at TEN he had 58 TDs and 5 INT - playing against SEC opponents. His decision making is fine. He has all the tools and, with the proper coaching, will develop into a very good NFL QB. So much depends on where you get drafted to.

      SMH, I couldn't disagree more. He is locked in to one guy most of the time, that will never work in the NFL. Hell TN ran an O where back side receivers didn't even bother running routes. This guy will be a bust if you can't teach him to read the field.

    Great analysis on both vids, Kurt. Hendon is puzzling. He can make the throws with accuracy, but it's his decision making that will be questioned. One of my favorite Vol qbs oat.

    Kurt, I understand your points about taking the easy route, but on most of these plays, the WR he is going to, is literally being HELD (you can easily throw a PI or Holding call on every single one of these plays you used. Kirby Smart probably saw on tape that Hooker normally hits his receivers coming out of their breaks, so he coached his DB's to attack the receiver at the point where they break their route and take a penalty if they have to, rather than surrender the big play. Watch the 7:19 mark (toward the bottom of the screen) as an example of what I am referring to. The DB literally grabs and holds the receiver, trying to impede his route. That is a flag all day long and for some inexplicable reason, the referees let too many of these go.

    • @JK.Palomba
      @JK.Palomba 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      They only let those go in college. I see some missed PI calls in the NFL but not on the break like that. An NFL ref will call that every time.

    So you are showing how Hendon hooker is struggling against the National Championship Team that has expert coaches that scouted him. Sorry, but the guy is super smart and I followed him at VA Tech when he was injured and the whole team exited due to the Head Coach. Hendon also has strong character and that is huge. These are the intangibles that make a champion. Yes, I attended VA Tech and got my MSB in Nursing from UT. or blind spot that you only evaluate the GA Game. GA Team is loaded with 5 star players. I really doubt that any NFL Team has that many 5 star players. They all get coached up and become great NFL professionals.

    Great video breakdown on part 1 and 2. I like what you did there. I am a Hooker/UT fan. IMO, the coach should be making the WR's run their route properly to keep the DB honest. Those WRs should've been tore up after the 1st half in the locker room. I would start with press coverage every down to take that easy throw away, until he can prove otherwise. Unfortunately SC figured it out.

    • @wutamamama
      @wutamamama ปีที่แล้ว +1

      SC didn't figure out the offense... We hung 38 points on them and that was a "low" production today with Hooker tearing his ACL early in the fourth quarter, so he basically didn't QB almost an entire quarter and still hung that many points on SC. So, not sure how that equals SC "figuring out" the offense? If scoring 38 points on another team is the other team "figuring out" Tennessee's defense, well then, that's why it was the #1 offense in the nation led by Hendon Hooker😃Tennessee's defense lost that game... you can argue they "figured out" our defense. D was beyond awful and just simply didn't show up that day.

    Hey Brother Warner. It seems to me some of the WRs are not running sharp routes. It’s like they run out then curl around to face him and that’s it. • @johncate9541
      @johncate9541 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      It was a bad game, but the reason for using Georgia is that when he plays in the NFL, everyone is going to be Georgia. Heupel's offense is designed to fluster a defense just enough to where someone gets open, and then Hendon was accurate, so he would make the throw. He even made Bama look terrible. But Georgia is talented enough that even if you throw them off, more often than not, they will recover. And that's where Hendon needed to make secondary reads that he wasn't making.

    • @patriciamichaels4393
      @patriciamichaels4393 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@johncate9541 You forget that the coaches at GA scouted him and drew up an defense to shut him down. If you see that week after week and have great coaches that help you deal with those defenses he will do well. Remember that UT was coming off a losing season and awful recuiting thanks to the awful hires who destroyed our program. The fact that Hendon Hooker helped bring a winning season to TN is not to be under estimated. This guy is a winner in life whatever he does.

    good breakdown Kurt. I don't like seeing that a QB needs what I call "Dummy Routes". Its generally a red flag for me when it comes to a quarterbacks ability to read a defense. Russell Wilson had alot of that kind of an offense in Seattle except instead of dummy routes they just would run 2-3 routes on a bootleg or off play action, and it was a quick, easy, bang bang type offense. What this tells me is that the coaches notice he struggled to read the defense in high school and at practice for the team. could be good in the right scheme, I generally believe the Seahawks would be a natural fit.
