What I loved about this vid was that you started explaining some of the aircraft systems in more detail during the engagement as they came up. Love that style. maybe try to incorporate that more into future vids, like mentioning each system and how/what are you using it for.
I've definitely seen the flanker datalink display missiles as very fast contacts. I don't know exactly why but it does happen, probably because the AWACS can pick up the missile and sends that to DL if I had to guess. I've never had it happen in a mission without AWACS.
Agreed Sir . They Tie First . Especially the 2 seat flanker. That time when a plane just looks ....mmm.... sensational! I love the SU34 fullback as well... a dirty fetish 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Just got myself a HOTAS and started flying Flankers right from the get go. This is an amazing guide. Thank you so much. You never fail to bring quality content.
I’m hoping to fly Flankers more, been having to focus what time I have to work on the F-18, since the squad I recently joined does missions every week.
I fly flankers frequently you want any tips as a lot of the stuff on TH-cam can be difficult to understand! Although if I take a while to respond I am sorry as I have a lot of school.
@@foxhound24 That is incredibly nice of you non the less. Do you have any tips on weapon's load on high altitude against nato aircraft? Like what should i bring along to compensate with my significantly weaker radar? Thanks a lot man.
Indeed the Flanker datalink sees missiles as hostile contacts, at least the ones big enough (such as AIM-54). Also you didn't see the last bandit because you were scanning in -1 and 0 so basically level and under you, and he was above. If you scanned +1 (maybe +2) you would've seen him straight away, keep an eye on those crosswise lines on the datalink contact :)
I was aircraft technician on Su-27SM jets. It actually have 3 Multipurpose indicators (monitors) instead of one, and it's much more comfortable to use. I wonder if theres such modification in DCS.
9:30 you can figure it out by looking on your RWR, if the signal is strong, missile is first one and near by. If signal is weak and increases rapidly, it means amraam went pit bull a moment ago and it is a new one. 8:44 same think. RWR signal has just the half of strength and not changing. It means that missile is not too close to you and already has the same speed as you do, and getting slower and slower cause of the drag. So it is beaten already
Amazing fight and skills. The RU RWR reminds me something from the 60's , like Pinball lol It would be great if the missions had some unpredictability, e.g to not know how many the bandits will be.
12:02 Yes, the Datalink sees the missiles. They appear as hostile contacts with a SUPER LONG longitudinal vector (because, you know, they're missiles, so they go SUPER FAST). The datalink treats ALL missiles as hostile contacts, even missiles from friendly units. And it makes sense, because they're... well... MISSILES. They're dangerous.
9:32 "...but we're still alive." That statement seems to typically if not canonically increase the lethality and the probability of kill of all enemy weapons by 3000% easily...
Always a pleasure to see some of the non-NATO hardware showcased. Fingers crossed we get that teased full-fidelity MiG-29 someday! FC3 is fun but it's just not the same experience. Hey Question, how is it your FOX 3s are so effective? I've seen in other videos of yours during BVR engagements, your FOX 3s (and your opponents) are often easily defended. However, in this vid, they are hitting their makes quite frequently. Is it the quality of the opponent? Or is it different when it's a 1v1? Love your work man :) Keep it coming!
Same here tbh the missiles in these type of videos feel like they are on steroids compared to 1v1 BVR engagements. Almost every shot here is a hit which is rare
Regarding the explanations of the systems onboard the aircraft: I would be really interested in a video just covering that using the SU-27 as an example.

Maybe idk but maybe the SAM missiles sended a signal or something to the aircraft to show that help has arrived? And maybe the su-27 thought it was a hostile
I doubt that SAMs are equipped with IFF, so they would probably show up as hostile on the datalink due to not being identified. Also I'm really proud of myself of having become to well aquainted with datalink from watching your videos, that I could identify at a glance the two new contacts, their altitude, their high speed and their heading. Great video GS! Question. If you are defending, why are you not waiting for the enemy aircraft to violate the border before engaging? I know this is for fun but what I saw was you violating another country's airspace (crossing the river), shooting down an aircraft on patrol, without cause or provocation and then continue that engagement across the boarder into your airspace. If the F-16's shot at you first then this would be reason to engage them. But they didn't.
