  • Fix I made when the air conditioning blower stopped functioning to my Toyota Corolla 2002. The end result was that the blower motor died and needed a replacement. I saved a lot of money by doing it myself. I can make a how to video if enough people wish to see it.

    Thanks for the video.
    Just in case anyone else has a hard time finding a 13/32 socket, 10mm works perfectly too.

      Dave Hedengren Wow, I can't believe he thinks Toyota designed with 13/32nds

      +Dave Hedengren Hi Dave, thanks for updating this. I am not a mechanic or anyone with experience. Thanks for clarifying the part for other users! Take care.

    Alexis, you do NOT need to disconnect the battery for this. I replaced this fan yesterday on my daughters 2007 Corolla. There is one phillips screw holding the limiter arm of the glove compart (on the passenger door side of the glove box), remove the screw.
    Pull (twist) the glove compartment to clear the limiter tab from the glove box frame on the driver side, then the passenger side. The glove box is plastic so it will twist easily. When both tabs clear the frame, the glove box will open way down towards the floor. The '07 glove box hinges are snap fit, so you just pull the box straight towards the seat and it will pop out.
    Then there are 2 bolts, a screw driver will work too, holding a computer module under the motor itself. Remove those 2 bolts (they are not real tight), and you'll have to move the module forward to clear a tab, then the whole unit will swing down and hang by the wire bundle, so you can get at the bolts for the blower motor shown in this video. Mine were 10mm.
    Knowing now how to remove the glove box, I could change out this blower motor in about 15 minutes, probably less.
    Hope it works out ok for you.

    All you need:
    10mm socket for two bolts under glove box, Rachet, Phillips screw driver for all the small things before and after that, and 8mm socket for the bolts on motor blower.

    Same exact car. Mine is making a horrible sound. Now I know it might burn out soon. Video helps out a whole lot! Thank you again!

    Thanks for the video. You just saved me from having to pay Toyota to fix my A/C. Looks like a pretty easy fix, I hope........

    Remove two screws on bottom of front face of glove box
    Remove Glove box
    Heater is just behind the glove box on the right side (the motor points downward and the fan is in a big round shroud).
    Un plug the cable bundles that get in the way of removing the blower moter (the motor will come straight down).
    There are three bolts holding the blower assembly in place, remove them and the blower assembly can be removed (pull downward).

    I know nothing about fixing cars and I did this a few days ago, wasn't too difficult. Glad I could save doing it myself, only 40 bucks for the part! Although the video didn't show step by step I still figured out what to do. (have an 05' corolla but it's basically in the same spot)

      +danfreed Glad you were able to make the change on your own. I will get to that video in a few weeks. Maybe next month. You probably saved like 300 dollars!

    Is there something wrong with your A/C? I noticed that the a/c light is blinking.

    Its very doable, all the plugs fit in their location and you will see it when you remove the broken fan. You are going to have to take out the glove box (hardest part) though there are videos on how to do that (that's what I used as a guide). I just got the motor and the fan because I got it for like 45 dollars but it might be cheaper with just motor, plus I got my car used, so I did not want any issues from the fan it self not fitting the new motor, though I doubt there should be any!

    do you need to diconnect the battery terminals because you are working relatively close to the airbags?

    Is it just a few screws on the face panel that holds the blower in place?

  • @ChuckFresco
    @ChuckFresco  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yeah haha I never said I was a pro or anything. It was just not common in a basic pack of tools that I had. I needed an adapter for it! Thanks for the info. :)

    That's what a good old car like, you can work on it... try to do this on 2015+ car, you gonna have to tier the whole front apart to get to it....

    Hi. I have a 2006 toyota corolla. The air or heater is not blowing at all. The switch lights come on but nothing, not even a sound comes out. Help. I am trying to fix this on my own and I am completely lost. I have changed out the fuse in the bottom of the dash. I can not identify the relay control switch. And I don't think I could find the ac blower motor.

    Out of all these videos on how to replace my blower motor on my 2001 Toyota Corolla, no one is telling me how to disconnect the wires. Can someone please?

  • @redneon06
    @redneon06 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Mine is full of coolant and turns on, but the air is not cold at all. It makes a wheezing sound when I press the ac button. What do you think is wrong?

    • @fiveseven15
      @fiveseven15 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      coolant isnt the same as the freon. theres no way to check how much freon is in it unless you get the machine to do it. if its still blowing ambient temp air, you just need to recharge. hot=leak

    • @redneon06
      @redneon06 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know. Used the gauge to check the freon and it was full. Someone at an OReily said the silver canister may be clogged. He said the compressor was working.

    Dude (Charles), thanks for telling us what it was, but you didn't show anything on how to pull the old part out and replace it with the new part. You barley showed the tools. Could you re-do this video and show the step-by-step, that would be helpful. I understand the excitement, but the video is useless unless you really demonstrate how to change the part. Thanks.

    Good info. Your video is too close in - one can't see where you are working - the big picture - Same comment re: 13/32 " is actually 10 mm. Toyotas are metric

    How big of a job was this?
    So you bought a motor WITH a new fan? It seems like they can sell the motor without. I just want it to be as easy as possible and as cheap as possible. Thanks for sharing.

    That socket you thought was uncommon, was a 10mm socket, the most common nut and bolt size on anything japanese

    Sounds to me like your blower motor has also died. Have not worked with a 2006 first hand. But I believe it is about the same. Just need to remove the glove box and its right behind it
    Some person gives more direct advice for it on fixya page:
