How Eli Wallach for his portrayal of Tuco did not win the Oscar for this is criminal. Also, Marconi song the ecstasy of Gold lives today in commercials TV shows the opening song for the band Metallica so much more.!!!
His reaction isn’t to Tuco emptying it- it’s to Tuco smacking it on the counter and a few cartridges spilling out. Even after, Tuco doesn’t empty the container- he merely shakes it a bit until several more bullets fall out.
more than 80 times I have seen..all the CLINT EASTWOOD..LEE VAN CLIFF...ELLIE WALLACH....made the movie unforgettable. Ennio Moricone's theme piece rocked out..will watch again..remembering the golden days
Waaay back in about 1967 or so, they had an all night special at the local drive in theater. For a Few Dollars More, The Good, The Bad and The Ugly and Fistful of Dollars all playing in one night. Saw them all and will never forget such a great show.
Tuco was the the best of the good the bad and the ugly. The best character ever in a film. And then Robert Shaw did the scene in Jaws about the Indianapolis. My two favorite films ever!
That's why Tuco's gun had a unique, "tune". The familiar sound that Blondie heard later on, was in fact, from a whole new pistol. He didn't know that Tuco had acquired a new weapon. What was the same however, was the unique grouping of components, from different makers, as favoured by Tuco. That was the "tune" that Blondie recognised.
Clint Eastwood’s greatness was in letting the best in every other actor shine through it gave him so much more to work with in terms of his own character. He enjoyed sharing the limelight because he wants to be able to sit his ares down with some JD when he’s tottering around long after the dust has settled and enjoy his movies that he starred in and some that he directed the way we all enjoyed them. His gravestone should say something like “a class act from the womb to the tomb”In decades to come he will be one of the most remembered stars of the Big screen. They broke the mould after him.
I HAVE THE DIRECTORS CUT IN MY SAFE,this movie exceeds the normal levels of movie producing, this movie is the western of our life times,EASTWOOD,WALLACH,VAN CLEEF,JUST GENIUS
All of Clint's westerns were great. Esp the early ones. I don't think that he's ever made a truly bad film. Incidentally, the word "idiot" wouldn't have become popularized until the early 20th century. First as the lowest level of mental retardation. Later as the insult Clint says to Eli Wallach playing the part of "Tuco".
Fun fact. When he was pulling the guns apart. That was improvised. He knew a lot about guns and the reaction the the shopkeeps face is real....thanks reddit.
I always watch this classic spaghetti western when it is on. Never get tired of watching it. Eli nailed the role of tuco. And he did a good Dr Freeze on the old Batman series also.
One of the most powerful scenes in this movie was when Tucco met his priest brother who denounced him as his brother. I kinda felt bad for Tucco in that scene. He only wanted his brother's approval.
@@tomlord5398 Yeah! That's when you know things got switched around between these two! Tuco's brother realized what a hypocrite he'd been with Tuco...and Tuco taught him a lesson!!! A very HARSH lesson!

WCC supplied almost all costumes and props including weapons for this movie. In 2000 in went bankrupt and sold its stuff in one huge auction. Swords, guns, knives and tomahawks all went for 1.2 million dollars. after examination it was all split up and sold on ebay for well over ten million. Swords with tags from john wayne.and movie actors from the 30's 40's were all auctioned one at a time on ebay. Tomahawks with human hair attached too....about half the stuff was made up but what was left? confederate and union uniforms, hats, belt plates and well just too much to name here all went to collectors. Whoever bought it for one million was made for life. Western Costume Company was legendary.
It's not that, everyone watches Netflix, hulu, HBO or just TH-cam nowadays they dont have cable. Growing up I watched this at the age of 14 for the first time cause in November they would have classic westerns on AMC, and on spike TV had the James bond marathons, so we were forced to watch that or continue channel surfing. I enjoyed the movies very much but the youth now just pick a movie on whatever they watch and once it's over pick another one. It's their choice of the film so I doubt if they saw the movie on Netflix or something they wouldn't pick it and try it out over whatever they were in the mood for. That's the thing about cable you cant pick what's on, only which channel to watch.
As a kid, I liked the gun shop scene. As an adult, I learned even modern revolvers have parts hand fitted. The cylinder timing is crucial to line up with the barrel. "Cartridges", sure, I'll be holding a shotgun on you. But it was a great scene.

without a joke, I was thinking of the shop scene today whilst work and marvelling at Tuco building a beast gun from multiple lesser ones.
I thought Eli Walcott should have gotten an Oscar for this one.
Tuko's dialogue: When you have to shoot, shoot and don't talk❤😄😄😄👍👍👍
One of the best sequences of the movie is the gun assembly by Taco
Tuco knew his side arms and was a deadly shot … accurate to a tea
To me this movie has the most iconic film score theme ever. Although the Harmonica from Once upon a time in the west second. RIP Ennio Morricone .
This was a Clint Eastwood vehicle, but Eli Wallach stole the show!
Larry who does he play? Tuco?

How can this be the best of? The whole movie is the best.
I love how after Tuco blasts that guy, Clint fades in and says 'Every gun makes it's own tune.'
One of Sergio Leone's "spaghetti western" classics.
Tuco is one of the main reason's you can't get a revolver with matching serial numbers from the 1800's.
