Hey man, I appreciate you doing this thorough exploration of the Stam 4000mk2. I have the same unit, but with the Neve mod. I use it as my main parallel compressor. I honestly want a second one for my master buss. It's a great compressor for the price. Not enough people do slower, longer videos like this where they really take the time to explore each setting and dial in the sound. For that, I thank you. Looking forward to hearing your final thoughts on it, and how you're using it in your signal flow. I like where you ended up on your drum buss. Cheers,

Thank you eddie! Sometimes I feel unsure even foolish at times for dropping long videos but when I make these videos, I make them from the perspective of someone who genuinely is shopping around for the piece of equipment and wants to make the most out of an informed decision as possible. Thank goodness TH-cam made the “Chapters” Features for those who wish to skip the journey and fast-forward to the results. LOL!
I noticed you mentioned the Stam SA-4Kmk2 in your Allen & Heath video. How do you like the added “Neve” feature?
I’ve also been looking at a second unit but Stam just mentioned a MK3 so I guess it’s wait and see for now.
Because I am not an in-demand engineer, usually what I’ll do is use outboard for each bus, print and then use outboard for the main mix bus and print that. A bit more time consuming but for now, I have the time. Take care eddie, looking forward to your album.

@@reddmusiclab I hadn't heard about this mk3. Any word on what the updates are? Also, do you do mastering as well as mix engineering? I'm looking for a mastering engineer for this project I'm finishing up. We should chat, as you clearly have developed your skill as an engineer. I respect that craft.
I LOVE the Neve mod on the mk2. It adds punch, glue and makes everything more weighty. It's a fantastic compressor.
And once again, thanks for taking the time to show the process of listening to compression and in all its subtleties. That's what its all about, that's how we learn. I need to check out your microphone videos, as I'm still using an sm57, lol!

Sounds like the typical Carnhill Transformers Characteristics on your Neve Mod; I just couldn’t choose! No updates from Stam Audio but based on what I’ve seen coming out of Stam Audio recently, I wouldn’t be surprised if Stam Audio adds a tube somewhere in the amplification circuit (SPECULATION ONLY!!!).
To the mastering subject, that’s an entire episode that I plan posting in the future but not anytime soon. The way I’ve been educated on mastering is that it’s the process of mixing the songs of an album so that the album has similar loudness throughout and a similar tone. I can maximize your songs as competitively loud as I possibly can but it’ll all depend on the mixes. You can message me in FB and get in touch there. Go to the about section of my channel and hit the FB Link.
I thought you had the SM-58? Nothing wrong with that! Hope to hear from you soon.

Glad you enjoyed the video. It’s crazy that Stam Audio has 3 Models of this bus comp and if I had a choice, I’d have one of each mod and an extra bus comp to the one I have. And now, he’s coming out with a MK3 Bus Comp! Great times! Hope you’re well Brother.

bass seems a bit low in volume? but am just half way through...also waiting to see if you touch the mix knob for parallel comp and the transformer button but nice vid so far.

Really? I thought the bass may have been a little too much. Guess we all hear differently. Sorry, I’m not a big mix knob type of person so I didn’t cover it, my apologies for that. I got the regular model, so no transformers, I just couldn’t choose between the two. Maybe I’ll my own thing with Jensen Transformers.
