    Thanks for the comparison! I would love to see a comparison between the Stam MK2 and the Alan Smart C2 :)

    Looks great. Really wish the newer MK2 500 series had that Mix/Belnd knob.

      @@RedStoneProductions To me the vocals sounds more floored and natural. On the MK2 it sounds higher up. I think they used a different transformer.

      @@LosFicosMusic Same transformer!, MK2 just has the real DBX 202 VCA comp.

      @@joshuastam7704 You managed to make this newer version BETTER than the actual SSL... Sonically it's right up the with the real thing. But the variable high pass, mix blend, and the optional transformer mods make this so versatile and give us engineers more options to sculpture the audio than with the real SSL bus comp. I'm saying this as someone who has worked with the real ones on the real SSL 4000 mixers. Well done!

    Thanks for making a video on this. I think it may be the only one out there atm!
    Mk2 sounds a little more lively. More open. Smoother harmonics from transformer or something too. Both sound great tho! I think the additional features of the mk2 would make that my choice but yeah both are great.
    Curious how these sound compared to the new Warm Bus Comp too.

      @RedStoneProductions  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I agree and thanks for watching!! No need to try out the Warm Audio bus with 2 SA4000's and 1 Al Smart c2. We're all set with VCA's:)

    It feels like the snare is ducking a bit on MKII comparing to the MKI? I also feel that MKII is compressing a bit more. However, the transformer is sounding nice!

    Have you done a video on how to hook up a patch bay? Or basically how to run audio to computer without anormal interface. I'd really like to go that route rather than relying on line ins/outs on interface with built in pres - that I don't use.

    • @RedStoneProductions
      @RedStoneProductions  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have not done Patch-bay video yet, but it could be a good one to work on next. Thanks for the inputs!

      MK2 has a lot more harmonic distortion actually. It uses discrete VCA (transistor based) vs chips on the MK1.

    Why have you set the thresholds completely differently on the mk1 and mk2 this isnt an accurate comparison?

    • @RedStoneProductions
      @RedStoneProductions  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for your comment man. I have set the threshold accurately after proper calibration (as always when using analogue chains). The action on the compressors is exactly the same, but the threshold value has been set differently on the 2 units I have in the studio. I also went a step further and asked the units designer who confirmed this theory. You can be absolutely sure that this is an accurate comparison. Keep in mind that P. Rossi who runs these comparisons is a senior audio engineer and lecturer here in Amsterdam. Peace and love

      @m9shamalan 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@RedStoneProductions did the designer explain why the mk2 has such a vastly more sensitive side chain? this is my experience with my unit as well, and its annoying you cant get the threshold high enough to just tickle the comp, without reducing the level going in.

    • @RedStoneProductions
      @RedStoneProductions  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree with you Matty on that: especially on the 2Bus it is sometimes too low that threshold for me.
