The moment the crowd went solo with the song. I was like "Take Joakim (the singer) from the stage. He isnt needed". Its an extremely powerful song, with a deep meaning, and the audience's reaction multiplies that by 100 times.

A song about the 30 year war in Europe (1618-48) but really about the fears and feelings of all of us who have been sent off to war and been involved in battles. The human experience once again conveyed by a Sabaton song with a great assist from the crowd in Sweden. This along with No Bullets Fly and Christmas Truce are among the best examples of this band great works. LIVE this band is insane and if you haven't been to a LIVE concert in your life you have been deprived. I wonder if we will ever get back to the Wacken Open Air type festivals with multiple bands and packed crowds again. If things do get back to normal and you get a chance to see Sabaton (they are scheduled for the West Coast of the US in March, 2022) if you want Canadian dates then 4/7/2022 in Halifax, NS (Scotiabank Centre); 4/13/2022 in Hamilton, Ont (FirstOntario Centre), you have to go. They are an experience you won't soon forget and their loyal fans make a concert experience even more special. BTW great reaction!!

I was there, in the back row. It was AMAZING, my entire row sang our hearts out.. hell i even shed some tears.
The war they sing about is pretty insane too, a son is born, his father goes of to war, the child grows up into an adult and leaves to join his father in the very same war.

I'd recommend watching the history videos for this song (there's an English and a Swedish episode).
They describe the horrors that met the soldiers when they were sent to war in that time period.

This song is from their 2012 double album Carolus Rex. One album have all the songs in Swedish, the other one in English. Except for two songs the lyrics are (basically) the same. The two that differs is this one and a song called 1648. In this song you follow a Swedish soldiers point of view in the 30 year war. In the English version you get a much wider view of the war from a neutral observer. In 1648 Swedish troops raided the town of Prague, that's what the song 1648 is about. And once again we get two views. The Swedish version is from the Swedish point of view, the English from the people of the city. And it was the last battle of the 30 year war. It ended right where it began 30 years earlier.

I loved this reaction video. Just wanna mention that is not a just cannon Hannes (the drummer) is sitting on but a real battle tank (ok, modified battle tank). Sabaton got two of them.

Like another guy mentioned this video kinda misses the part where Joakim asks the crowd to use the flashlights on out phones, which are all the bright dots, if that wasnt obvious. Which to me makes it even more epic, standing a bit from the stage and watching that was awesome.
And yes, this is indoors 😛

This song is about the Thirty Years' War that dominated central Europe in the 17th century (1618-1648). To this day it is one of the longest and bloodiest wars in history, with the death toll falling between 4 million and 8 million. Many of the fatalities were not even from active warfare, but famine and disease also plagued the area, upping the casualties that much more. Casualties reached such a high number that many Swedish men were forced to fight when they had barely reached manhood, and sometimes even before then. Which really makes the title of the song ("A Lifetime of War" in English) hit a little harder. Men basically spent their entire lives at war, no chance for a peaceful life.
The was about the battle between Catholics and Protestants, and at some point during the war almost every major player/Country in Europe was a part of it.
This Swedish version of the song tells the story from a Swedish soldier's point of view. You should also check out the English version; it is not a direct translation from the Swedish, but it rather tells the story of the war from the perspective of the outside people, those not involved directly in the war but were affected by it.
The lyrics hits hard, but it also shows that even when times change, new technology comes, one thing remains constant and that is the horrors of the war, both those who fall in it and those who survive and have to live with nightmare every day (ptsd).
    Greetings from Denmark.

Thanks for your reaction to this EPIC Sabaton song! It's from 2012, album Carolus Rex. I recommend you to react to other songs from this album: Carolus Rex (it's in Swedish and English - me and most people prefer Swedish version with the English captions or lyrics) and also The Lion from the North - bothare about the Swedish rulers ( Karl XII [(Carolus Rex], Gustav II Adolf [Lion from the North] ) How Sabaton is amazing to awake emotions!!

Thanks for reacting to this one dude and yeah I'm Swedish.
Just before this clip started Joakim asked everyone to hold up their cellphones since no one carries around a lighter anymore. Needless to say, this was one hell of a show. Sadly this was just before covid really broke out and started canceling shows (had for once tickets for 5 shows and 1 festival that year and this was the only one I got to attend)
as a side note, that was a tank, not a cannon. :P
I was sitting somewhere in the middle of the platform to the left from this view of the stage and it is from an indoor sports arena called Scandinavium.

    The arena: Scandinavium,Gothenburg,Sweden
    12.500 something in the crowd
Right before the song Joakim said
-Tomorrow we'll play in Stockholm so lets do a little contest, how will sing it best?
-Nobody nowadays carries a lighter but every single one of you have a cell phone, so light them up.
Standing in the crowd it felt even more powerful.
And who won the contest? Well the answer is on the video :)
