Don't get why people are so surprised at the stupid questions, just because you're academic doesn't mean you're a general all rounder or wise at life. Look at Lord Sugar, dropped out of school but he's an incredibly smart man

Very refreshing to listen to someone who is nothing like they are on TV. He's extremely calculated and precise, has a vast wealth of knowledge not just about business and a very open mind. Thoroughly enjoyed the talk with him.

Kind of a shame as getting an hour to interview Alan Sugar you'd think there is a lot more of interest than just The Apprentice, glad Alan picked up on this and changed the subject early on. The interviewer in this situation doesn't deserve to hold this interview his questions where dry and clearly did no research. To bring politics and Tinder into this Q&A is a bit embarrassing considering all the amazing topics you could go through.

He's a great guy. He talks sense and he's witty with it. If every British politician was as decent as him we'd all be better off for it. Now, if Trump can be the president of the USA surely Sugar can be the Prime Minister of the UK.

Alan Sugar always gives good clear advice. He is a man worth listening to for tips on how to apply yourself. My only gripe with this session is nobody asked him a question about the property business.

  • @FUNKINETIK

@30:00 Please correct me if I am wrong… as I recall from an interview with Alan Sugar many years ago, his involvement with Sky TV was that he won the contract to build the satellite dishes. He managed to find a contractor that could make the metal dish at a very competitive rate… that contractor manufactured dustbin lids. Where there’s muck there’s money.

Stupid question about why apprentices only there for 2-3 years. Good bosses know if your best employees can do better outside, you have to let them go and they will never go to your competitors because they will be giving them the same opportunities (unless they become one by starting up themselves). This is how you expand and sustain your business networks.

36:30 He is full of shit right here. This is a classic mistake that either the super rich believe, or some academic people or middle class people that do not actually live in that situation. He claims that people in Britain simply 'do not want these jobs' and therefore it is done by foreigners because we are all to lazy. That is simply full of shit. He claims British people think it is not cool 'carrying a load of bricks'. Well excuse me, not everyone wants to sit in an office and some of us like doing things which are physical. I also work super hard and I am one of those people who 'carry bricks'. However, it is not that the British are lazy but the fact that many Polish went in the building trade and worked for next to nothing. Many came here and stayed with like 7 to a room and saved a tiny bit of money. They then took that money back to Poland where it was worth much more. A classic case of the failed EU ideology where you can't apply things like the same interest rates to two completely different countries and economies. Anyway, the Middle Class or rich like it because they can pay workers less. However, that puts British people out of jobs. I went to a guy I met who started his company and he wanted me to work for 10 hours for £30. Now Sugar thinks I am being lazy not accepting that. Really? The guy then said he just gets such cheap labour with the Polish. Just another case where Sugar thinks he is right but is living in a bubble.

Ouch man and that is the main work issue in business, be it in the building trade or any other form of trade. Another company or another group of people come in and offer the very same service/product at a much lower rate than what the normal 'trusted' 'allocated' companies are offering and all of a sudden your forced out of business as who the hell would pay someone more for the very same quality job at a lower price.
The polish who clean the cars near where I live do a very impressive job on my car for £10 inside and out, and everything looks brand new. IF I went to another smaller uk car cleaning firm THAT same job would be about £25 as I've checked so it's not polish peoples fault.

dude, understand britian is being systemically destroyed, you the british are being demographically replaced, this is the neo liberal global state agenda hard at work to undermine a population.
I do agree, shamefully that he stated english people dont want the work, but also a slither of truth, most english people feel more than low wages, they are pampered and spoilt in general. but this is a complicated subject, however the reasons things are this way are due to a hidden hand. i encourage you to look into demographic replacement, u seem to be on the right track . god bless

Don't be silly Barrow boys is what Oxford needs to be lectured by - surely they can learn nothing from the Duke of Westminster or the duke of Devon.

people in Poland, Slowakia etc. they did not become "european" by joining EU, these areas are and were always european... Europe is a continent, going as far as up to Ural, as the european supcontinent of Eurasia. would be verry nice if people could use the terms EU, european and Europe precicely.

Alan Sugar spews the same right-wing talking points as Ronald Reagan. Greed is good. Millionaires are so oppressed. The merchant prince deserves admiration and praise. No wealthy person/corporation pays the going tax rate. That's why they have accountants, barristers, and off-shore tax havens like Jersey -- where Sugar likes to fly his private jet. He made money the old-fashioned way: taking the lion's share of the profits generated by the labor of his workers.
