    I just retired from doing that for 18 years. You done good! I like that you unhooked from the silo first too! Some times if the silo is over full, the cement will come back down the pipe. Better to have it all over the ground than all over the back of your trailer. Good luck.

    I drive bulk tankers and the top air is good for cement, flyash and carbon. You can shut the vibrator off after fluffing the material and just use top air to unload with belly line air. The tanks are designed to use both top and vibrator air to make it unload faster. Without top air the powder will just float around in the tank. Use both top and vibrator airs to be done in less than a hour everytime. I also pull plastic and the book says not to use top air but I do and unload faster and usually unload 2 pockets at a time.

      Moat definitely is. Cuts unload time by about 5 minutes if you know how to adjust it with the line pressure.

    Use to pull bulk tanks. We had a driver that forgot to release the tank pressure before unhooking his line. Put him in a coma for three weeks. Doesn't take much pressure to move that stuff.

    Hey, I really appreciate your video is helping in the development. I am making a Lego version of this trailer.

      @terrellscaife2411 oh wow that's cool, you will have to let me know how it turns out. Also there is several videos on my channel with some different shots of the trailer if you want to check them out. I think most of my videos l have a Polar pneumatic Bulk tanker 1080 cubic feet is the size. "I think" it's going on 11 years since I did bulk tanker work. Thanks for watching and commenting. Hope my videos help in your development.

    thanks for watching smoke stack 684... wow 18 years I'm not sure I can do 18 years of this stuff but it's not a bad job it's dirty and get boring on those big tall silos. but it's what is paying the bills for now.

    I hauled a Lot of cement
    there were Gardner/Denvers that ran off a PTO
    and Switzers that ran off the exhaust
    I thought 'my dream job as there were no tarps to mess with
    but found out those plants were open 24 hours - O hell!

    Definitely one of the nicest cleanest dry bulk tank trailers I've ever seen. But where is your ppe sir lol

    • @hollywd269
      @hollywd269  ปีที่แล้ว

      This video was done years ago... back when you didn't have to dress like a clown to unload your trailer lol. Not saying it's a bad thing but some companies go way overboard with ppe!

  • @dearllporter1539
    @dearllporter1539 ปีที่แล้ว

    I've been trying to find some knowledge or info on the most efficient and quickest way to unload minusil 5,10, tkpp, stpp etc. Different lighter products than cement. Definitely cant use top pressure and gets clogged very easy if you rush it.

    • @hollywd269
      @hollywd269  ปีที่แล้ว

      When I hauled flyash, I would built up to 15psi and open my back pot and only use a little air then as the pressure would drop but flow was good I'd Crack open my other 2 pots about halfway to keep my pressure up. But that all hinged on how hard of a push to the silo it was

  • @hollywd269

    I understand what your saying QC has some funny ways about there company. But I don't actually drive for QC I driver for FT Silfies they're a company that leased on to QC so some of the rules and regulations of QC apply to me but for the most part I'm dealing only with Silfies unless it come down to DOT stuff... But in reality ISN'T MOST DRIVING JOBS A JOKE THESE DAYS!!! I can pay my bills and have a little pocket change and that's about it.. and believe me I've drove for several companies...

    Looking to get a pnematic trailer never done it before been pulling reefer trailers for 28 years what suggestions do you have for a beginner likr me just starting out thx

    • @hollywd269
      @hollywd269  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +ron rucker Sorry for the delayed response! Well I no longer pull bulk tanks I haul (work for) Pilot flying J but I do miss pulling bulk a lot, However it's very seasonable job in the Maryland area (where I live) hauling cement. my suggestion is as long as your working for a steady company that has a good contracts or your in a warm climent you will be fine. but all in all depends on what your hauling i'm speaking only on hauling cement! but the bulk business is fun and reasonably easy, looks hard but not much to it... (ALSO IF HAULING CEMENT IT'S VERY HARD TO KEEP A CLEAN TRUCK) just so you know!!! But pnematic is kind of like pulling dump bucket their is so many different things you can haul. My opinion go for it, it's been some of the best years of trucking for me but got out of it for one reason i wanted a steady check and where i live the weather had a lot to do with the work. good luck and I hope this helps you! Thanks for watching.

    No it doesn't those tanks can be dangerous if a person is careless or hasn't been trained properly, It only takes a few pounds of air and someone could get hurt real bad if they don't know what they're doing. (or just get careless)

    Just a question? In this industry is it typical to run with not getting paid for empty miles?

    • @hollywd269
      @hollywd269  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry for the delayed reply, but yeah most companies pay loaded miles and usually try to get you a load close to you delivery point. Every company is different. Like this video I was paid a percentage of my load example I got 24% of the load so this particular load paid the truck $22.00 a ton and I had 27 ton on the truck so the truck made $594.00 and my 24% of the load paid me the (driver) $142.56 and this was about a 120 mile round trip.. now these figures are not current i don't do this type of driving now. But this is the way most home daily drivers get paid. I haul fuel now and I'm paid by the hour but our drivers usually paid by miles and certainly pay for hooking and unhooked trailers.. it varies for company to company

    How much a trailer weight full?

    • @hollywd269
      @hollywd269  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Aundrae Payne I usually carried 53,000 pbs (26.50)tons, that would give me about 79,500 pds gross wt for truck and trailer

      +primoo allah Good luck, I hear they changed the pay package somewhat for the good... I always enjoyed working for Chris Silfies, one of the best jobs I ever had. Work had dropped off down here in Hagerstown,Md so I had no choice but to move on but wish every day I"d stayed with there. I know I can go back but just hanging out as a fuel driver for pilot for the time being... I feel you will do good with Silfies just remember the cement does have it's up n down times of the year if you can deal with a slow day here and there you will do just fine, again good luck and be safe out there
