    The fact that you can easily find halal food and halal supermarket in various cities in China is rarely known by foreigners, especially westerners. Same here for Indonesian ppl. My college in Changsha even have several halal restaurants.

      Islam doesn't really have that many dietary restrictions. Muslims would have a hard time following something like a Seventh Day Adventist diet.

    • @COMBATAVIATOR
      @COMBATAVIATOR ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@alanguages restriction if not just with content. The restriction is with the prescribed method of slaughter and if any animal product being used in anything else, that animal has to be slaughter in the prescribed method. Depending upon where you go and live, it can be very difficult. There are countries where every other thing would have animal fat used in it, or some alcohol is used in processing etc.

    • @alanguages
      @alanguages ปีที่แล้ว

      @@COMBATAVIATOR Today being globalized, can't see how Muslims and other religious restrictions, like food prep can get their way. I saw some of the gross preparation done in China and it was utterly disgusting. The mindset there is they will always get someone else to buy or eat.
      Use of Gutter Oil is an example.

    Hello Abby, its so nice to see a Muslim introducing us the various muslim food available in Beijing. I went to Beijing back in 2011, and it has been 10 years. I don't remember much but it was a tour package so most of the places or resraurant we went were pre-arranged. And being muslim students and teachers ourselves, we went to quite a few halal restaurants in Beijing! Oh the food was delicious but salty. Hope to see more muslim centric content from your channel!

    Hi Abby , I have been to Beijing but didn't know about these places, thanks for sharing. The media is talking about the Xinjiang region I think.

    • @bananaana1860
      @bananaana1860 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Xinjiang and its neighbor Lanzhou also have many halal restaurants and Muslims. My friend who grew up in Lanzhou grew up with many classmates and Muslim friends. She told me that her school wouldn't allow non-halal foods in class if there were Muslim students. And she told me how she felt it was unfair to her 😂 Many Westerners don't know about this because Chinese people don't treat it as a hot topic, it's just normal life. China also has many temples and churches. China is more concerned about religious radicals than regular people. Because of radical individuals who caused violent riots that hurt many innocent civilians, more security is implemented in some areas. I used to believe western media until speaking with my Chinese friends, they all laughed at how ridiculous the media portrays them. And for the longest time, I didn't even believe my own friends and argued with family. I also feel like many westerners don't know the Chinese word for halal and assume there is no halal.

    • @itsAbby
      @itsAbby  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thank you!!! You're right. Growing up as a muslim, there's always halal food served in school, from elementary school to college. You're right. It's just normal life for us... until I saw those western media news. :(

    • @abdurrahimturker5479
      @abdurrahimturker5479 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      One sided american propaganda? Go ask the uyghurs abroad if it is one sided american propaganda. I don't like the West, and especially hate the US. The US has no place in this World to talk to any Nation about war Crimes or human rights. But whats Happening in Xinjiang is not just some 'US-propaganda'. You can easily find primary Sources for whats going on. Every single Masjid in China needs a CCP member on top to Check all that is Happening, everything they teach the people etc. Many mosques don't allow people under 18 to enter and pray. Same as many places not allowing people under 18 to fast. China likes to portrait itself as 'friendly' towards Religions people and then imprison them for advicing others towards Religion. Many people have received 10 years and more of prison time for making Statements such as 'you should fast and pray, otherwise you will go to hell'. This is a very simple islamic principle but teaching this can easily get you imprisoned. I can send you the original document of the court decision in both uyghur and English Translation. Also, if Xinjiang is so great, why do uyghurs abroad not want to go back to China? Why do they prefer living poor lifestyles e.g. in turkey, if China is so great for them? Why do 80 year olds rather WORK abroad, than to back to their home country to their family? Why did China all of a sudden decide to make Camps for 'de-radicalization' (which they first denied even existed) and say it is voluntary? If it was voluntary, which person in this world would actually consider himself a radical or Extremist and want to deradicalize himself? Not to talk about the circumstances in those places. There are thousands of eye witnesses all around the World who all tell similar stories. Many documents and much of the knowledge is free for the public. Anyone who denies whats Happening in Xinjiang should be ashamed of themselves

    Not all Muslims and not all Uyghurs are being oppressed, if you are for example Hui (essentially culturally chinese who happen to be Muslim), you are not oppressed at all, Same goes to the majority uyghurs who tend to be apolitical. The CCP do not usually take an interest in individuals' affairs unless it feels threatened by something.

    Just because there are muslims in Beijing does not mean that there are no concentration camps where Uyghurs are held against their will. I am not saying that ALL muslims or uyghurs are in such camps but they certainly exist and there is enough evidence out there.

    My younger brother went to Beijing for some business and he said Halal food is indeed uncommon. There's some muslim butcher shop for halal meat but the price difference with regular non-halal one is a bit steep. Well, he's still a student so idk how steep is his steep.

    Muslims can eat anything that is halal except pork. So if you remove pork and alcohol from chinese food then there is no difference in chinese food and chinese muslim food. I live in china for more than 15 years and i can always find many lovely halal western style or chinese style restaurants in every city i visit. The APP we use is Dianping. Just write the keyword 清真 and you are good to go.

    China will become a leading country in the world, if islam dan muslims are respected as a part culture of china. The historical facts are that the role of chinese during the dynasty was so great, but historical traces were close and even omitted.💯💯

    Chinese desserts, like most Asian desserts, are not good. There are two main types of Muslim food, Lanzhou food and Xinjiang food. Lanzhou food is similar to traditional Chinese food, mostly rice and noodles, it's very boring. Xinjiang food is similar to Indian, Pakistani and North African food food, it's very spicy and very delicious. Xinjiang grilled potato slices, I don't know the name of the dish, are incredible.
