My name is Srinivasa Rao Cherukuri (Alumni BIET, Davangere 1985 Mechanical branch) and thanks for this video. I recollected many memories of eating local Davangere food in various places including those small Tea shops/food places around BIET campus hostels and old hostel. Even today I admire the tasty food of Ashwamedha and Chetana (If I remember correctly). Kannada people are very friendly and I always remember my Davangere days. In fact those memories are always in my thoughts

I visited Davangere yesterday and 1st stop was Subbanna Mirchi....I have eaten at this place since 1977 till 1990 when I used to visit my Grandma's place, post missed coming to Davanagere. This place was popular & famous way back in 77 itself.... Once again your narration is unbeatable...your food expressions are awesome !!!. The Mandakki was awesome still relishing & reminiscing about it....

Subbanna & his brother are quite popular faces in Davanagere. Earlier they used to prepare "masala-mirchi"..the same whole green chilly, with all it's seeds removed & some secret home-made magic masala stuffed inside the so emptied green chillies & then dipped in the kadle hittu batter & then deep fried....aahahaha...those used to be such amazing divinities...but from past many years they have stopped preparing those masala-mirchis & now they only prepare the regular mirchis..but nevertheless tasty as always.. Vaggarne Mandakki is also called as Soosla in some parts of North Karnataka (Vijayapura, Bagalkot). Mandakki is called as Churmuri. So it becomes Churmuri Soosla. In our home we add tomato as well which adds its own tanginess to it making it even more interesting. Mirchi bhajji is like icing on the cake, it just completes Vaggarne Mandakki (Soosla). Thanks for showcasing this staple food of North Karnataka. I have been to this place. Must visit.

Vaggarne Mandakki is also called as Soosla in some parts of North Karnataka (Vijayapura, Bagalkot). Mandakki is called as Churmuri. So it becomes Churmuri Soosla. In our home we add tomato as well which adds its own tanginess to it making it even more interesting. Mirchi bhajji is like icing on the cake, it just completes Vaggarne Mandakki (Soosla). Thanks for showcasing this staple food of North Karnataka.
