Hi dale, great video! Question for you, how do you remove the rubber bulb sleeves from the tach without tearing them? I’m restoring one off my 72 TC125 and the first one I removed to replace the bulb tore in two pieces.
Yes, good question and the answer is very carefully. Sometimes it just doesn't work. I have found replacements from HVC Cycle in Lincoln Ne. They are Yamaha pigtails but work just fine on the Suzuki. I have in the past bought some off of Ebay, but they are used too, so probably no better than what you have.
@@montana2strokeracer I decided to design and 3D print replacements using flexible filament. So far they look like they will work just fine. I made them so you don’t have to strip down the harness to install them. It will leave a small hole in head but that can be easily closed over with some black RTV .
Hey Dale, I have the same unit but tachometer male fitting is broke so that piece that you initially unscrewed then screwed back in needs to be replaced. Is that an easy repair?
Hey Brandon, it has been a while since I did this, if I remember right the piece that the cable screws on to becomes loose and the tach will be very erratic. If you repeen that part to the base, I think that's what I did. That erratic behavior will stop.
Hey Dale, my unit was full of metal dust and all the internals are bound up. I assume its toast. do you know if the newer gauges from the GN or similar would work ?
You know Im not sure what other units will work, the cables are pretty much the same the way they connect, but the electrical and mounting would be the challenge, that said most anything could be made to work, just how much time and effort do you what to put in to it.
You know Dale this is great content there is always someone that needs to see it done to finger it out. Thanks for sharing. See you on the next.
Thanks buddy, these units on the Suzuki's are just not as good as the Yamaha ones, too much plastic
