    I've struggled with those pins as well Dale. I feel a little better knowing it wasn't just me. This video is really helpful as I have to reinstall the clutch on my TS125 and needed a brush up. Thanks for sharing.

      Thanks Graham, no, you're not the only one. I just think Suzuki miss the boat on those pins. They could have simplified everything by putting screws there.

    My. TS 185 Clutch needs attention. I really appreciate what you do. Will have this video in my tool box when I have time to get to the bottom of my clutch. Thank you!

      I have covered just about everything to do with the clutch on this 73 TC125, and about a year ago on a 74 TC125, there should be no difference in them and your TS185. If you run into a glich, drop me a line. My email is on the About page in youtube. Thanks again.

      Thank you Nathan, I am glad folks are getting some good out of the videos. Yes your RV125 should be the same as the TC125. Good luck on your bike, if you have any questions please feel free to ask. Thanks for watchin.

    Oh man that has the pins lol . Late 70s rm125s do as well. I made a tool similar to yours but with couple bends so can pry not pull. Also if you put the clutch plates in then loosen or tighten nut with impact. Can easily hold it then 🔧🔧

    • @montana2strokeracer

      Yes, those pins are a pain, the tool I made will pry also, sometimes depending on position, it's easier to pull.

      @@johncasertano1687 Sounds like you will have your parts soon. Ive never gotten anything from Germany, so not sure about shipping from there. Hey you might check out Kwrightway and Kevin Bergeron on TH-cam, they both do some Honda and Suzuki stuff. I watch both of them and they do a great job. It sounds like we had kinda the same experiance with bikes in our early lives. I love these old bikes that I grew up with, dont even own a new one. They dont even look like motorcycles anymore with the radiators and wild looking body kits. But I know they are superior in every way to the old ones. Go figure.

    Hi Dale, great video's. Can you give more details regarding the (I think you said) Argent paint. I am trying to find a good match to a NOS cover that is scratched and marked. Is it a general silver or a particular to model type.

    • @montana2strokeracer
      @montana2strokeracer  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi there, it is tuff to find what I think is the right color. But on the Suzuki's, I have been using the Rust Oleum 7715 aluminum. If it's to shiny for your liking you can spray clear semi-gloss lacquer over it, and it tones it down some and turns it a little bit gray. Thanks for your comment and for watching.

    Just wanted to say your video has helped me a bunch, working on a 72 rv90 in the process of replacing the fibers and steel plates. When i took it apart the stack started with a steel and then a fiber, that can’t be correct?. Also i’m not seeing a “raised” part on my clutch basket to line the dot on the up too?. An insight would be appreciated. Thanks

    • @montana2strokeracer
      @montana2strokeracer  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi Jake, your clutch plate pack should start with a fiber and end with a fiber. The raised line will be inside the clutch basket behind one of the springs. It's about an inch long and 1/8 of an inch wide. You then will find a small 'O" on the top plate at the edge, this alignment procedure is to line the springs up with the holes in the cover. Thanks for spending time with me in the shop.

      Thanks for the reply,appreciate the help/insight. Someone must’ve been into this bike before and installed them wrong, thinking that could be the reason it was slipping under heavy load.

    I have a 72 TS125 with clutch slippage at higher rpm. Could be me, I'm not 135 lbs. anymore. Everything is new in the clutch. The one thing I don't remember setting is the clutch springs. Is there a height or measurement to the springs or are they bottomed out in the hub? Thanks

    • @montana2strokeracer
      @montana2strokeracer  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Steve, the TS125 uses pull springs to set the tension. You have to pull them up and insert a pin to hold them. The one thing I would check is the clutch basket to see if the fiber plates have worn grooves in the fingers. If so, I have had luck using a file to remove the grooves. The grooves can prevent the clutch from locking up good. The free length of the springs is 29.9mm with the limit at 30.9mm. You will have to screw out the spring from the hub and measure from end to end with a caliper.

      @stevemarquez9628 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@montana2strokeracer Thanks Dale the plates are new. Did you bottom out the springs in the hub? I'm thinking there is a tension issue with the springs.

      @@montana2strokeracer ok great, I was watching Kevin and he adjusted them at idle. I know they were on smaller bikes like the kE100 and ts125. I have a 77/78 ts 185 so I’ll adjust it like you say. Thanks again.

      @@artbentley4887 I just double checked the TS250 manual I have and that is correct. Are you sure Kevin wasnt working on a Kawasaki, I am not sure how they are adjusted. I also do not have a 185 manual so I am not sure for it. But they generally are the same as the 250's. I will ask Kevin next time I talk to him how the Kawasakis are adjusted since I have the 175 to do at some point.

    • @artbentley4887

      Dale, I know he adjusts the ke100 at idle, that’s how I have several of mine adjusted. The video Kevin was adjusting was a ts125. I tried adjusting with full throttle on the ts 185 and couldn’t get it close. I went back and got it to line up with throttle at idle so I’m not sure.

    Hi, Dale what weight oil do you use in the trans/clutch?

    • @montana2strokeracer
      @montana2strokeracer  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Frank, I use a good quality 20 wt non detergent. I believe suzuki as well as Yamaha calls for 10/30. I like non detergent because there is less foaming and bubbles. In your temperature you may need to go with 30 wt.
