  • Today is my take on the classic '5 Things I HATE About My Car'.
    This is my 2016 Nissan 370Z Nismo Edition and honestly it is nearly a perfect car for me. I seriously love so much of it! But no car is perfect.....
    Everything I hate about my Nissan 370Z!
    Check out the video as I go over the thing/things I actually hate about it, something Nissan could have done better, and then finally a few reasons some of you might not like owning this car!

    In order to fix the trunk not opening problem, take out the two springs you mentioned on the video and stick inside one or two 5 cents in each to adjust the opening action depending on how much the Spoiler you have weights. It's a common mod in these cars ever since the 350z.

  • @camcooper
    @camcooper 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    To fix the trunk issue I took those little spring pieces apart and stuck a few rubber grommets in there to make it more stiff and compressed. Has worked ever since, especially considering how expensive new OEM ones are!

  • @lenny5191
    @lenny5191 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    For people with the trunk issue, the black "springs" are the problem, sometimes it works to take them of and put a penny or 2 in the bottom of them. Should also be videos about that on youtube.

  • @hiphopisart6165
    @hiphopisart6165 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    For the trunk you can do one of three things
    1. Press the button and open it fast
    2. Press and hold the button
    3. Put a penny where the trunk adjusters go when the hatch and close and use it as normal
    Kinda strange but works for me

  • @JHANKSMEDIA
    @JHANKSMEDIA 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    The trunk issue is an easy fix, I had the same problem on my 350z and fixed it this way. Twist the spring 90 degrees to remove it, remove the rubber piece from the base, remove the spring, stick a few coins or washers in the bottom of the rubber sleeve, put the spring back in, fix the rubber sleeve back over the base, and put back on the trunk. Just repeat for the other side 👍

    So I LITERALLY just bought this car in black today *squeals of manical glee* and my car doesn't have that latch issue with the trunk that you demonstrated. Maybe it's a defective part worth looking into?

    • @notamuzed4753
      @notamuzed4753 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes but it is possible to go bad over time since they have been revised multiple times but have never successfully fixed the issue. One remedy is to twist the springs on the top of the hatch (in the video) a quarter of a turn then take the rubber cover off of it and put a coin in the bottom of each one once completed you put the rubber cover back onto the spring and reinstall by also twisting a quarter of a turn in the opposite direction.

  • @07broly
    @07broly 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    As a Nismo 350Z owner there is what's called the 4 penny trick for that trunk problem lol. you can twist those "rubber things with springs in them" to where they can come off, take the spring out of the rubber part and drop 2 pennies in each one which will put more tension on the spring so that whenever you pop the trunk you won't have to hit the button twice. If the problem continues drop an extra penny in each of them and you should be golden as I've had to actually use 6 pennies total but all my other Z friends have only needed to use 4 total.

    There's a penny trick you can do for the hatch not opening on the first attempt. There are directions on the 350z forums as well, but you basically take apart that spring bucket you have your hand on at 3:35, put a penny or two in, put it together, and reinstall.

    1 Year late to the party, but awesome vid and still holds up to the current market for Z’s. I bought a 2010 Touring back in 2015, and been loving the car since. My only gripe with the 09-11 is the steering lock malfunction, which renders your car from starting. I have the trunk issue as well, but that’s a minor set back. Other than that, the 370Z was built solid and upgrading parts for it is easy AF. Great car, great vid!

      Evotic you have to remove the engine, take out the seats and steeringwheel and then go to Japan so then they can remove the apex coding and then you have to put the engine back and the seats and the steering wheel then you have you to supercharge it and then remove it once again and then you have to streetrace and get it impounded and then you have to buy an older 370z which doesn't have one. 😀hope this helped

    I had a 370Z and the thing that annoyed me the most is how the cargo netting was attached. I had two of the anchors pull out with no way to get them back in. The hatch hydraulic system would also weaken after a few years if you had a spoiler on it, which was the most annoying since I had to carry a plant stake to prop it up.

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed
      @BrosFOURRSpeed  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I actually like how it works. In my GTR i have the net in the only position, which is against the back panel up right. I really liked being able to place things tight under the net, rather then loosely inside the net

  • @shoryukenpower
    @shoryukenpower 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    For the trunk.. I store my car in the winter and noticed the same thing started happening. Turns out when the battery level was low/lower, there wasn't enough power to pop the trunk properly. After I trickle charged my battery back to full, the problem went away. Might be same kinda thing happening to you, which also would explain why it tends to happen more when it's cold.

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed
      @BrosFOURRSpeed  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Interesting. It seems like if the trunk has not been open for 1 hour, it will always do it. I feel like the rubber seal around the trunk lid is 'sticking' to the paint or something.

    • @sw651
      @sw651 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Try spraying the rubber seal with silicon spray, I do this every fall on my truck to keep the doors from freezing shut. It will prove or disprove your sticking theory.

    • @mariusz3173
      @mariusz3173 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The same issue is applying to 350z. I'm not sure if the design is the same, but try this: Unplug those rubber seals, there should be a spring inside. Try to put washer under it so it will squeeze the spring harder after closing the trunk. When opened, it should push the whole thing with more power solving the problem.

    Regarding the harsh ride, make sure you the shipping spacers have been removed from the springs. I moved from a standard 370 to a Nismo and didn't find the ride any harsher. It's a common issue for the spacers to be left in by dealerships.

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed
      @BrosFOURRSpeed  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The spacers are not there. The previous year Nismo seemed the same as my sport. But the 2015+ is noticeably a stiffer ride.

      Christina Brown Don't buy a sports car then...most sport cars are stiff and harsh
      lambos are a good example for alot of money spent on shitty ride quality..no such thing as a smooth road in a sports car..although some are better than others. the sport or track version of sport cars can be really bad and painful for ppl not used to stiff sport suspension
      I have cheap coilvers on full stiff setting and hitting bumps and broken pavement with low profile tires hurts the kidneys lol the car follows the road and if the pavememt dips the car falls with it..even fresh tramac feels uneven (which it is) you just can't feel it with normal road cars.. the difference between your truck and my car tho is my car changes lanes FAST almost telepathicly and flat and corners like its on rails. The trunk lid is actually an easy fix and it will only cost a few cents. I had that issue on my Z. There's a pair of springs the help pop the trunk up, but there's not enough to actually get it to pop. Search for 370z penny trick or penny mod. I think there was even a TSB to replace the springs with longer one's.

The solution is just buying a spring to piggyback on top of the spring in there already if that's how your hatch releases works.

      Oh I love the seats! One of the best factory seats I've every been in. But some people might not like them. Like I mentioned in the video. The precious owner loved the car, but after a few months realized they were too aggressive for him. He was a 60 year old retired guy. So he went back to his Mercedes.

    I own a 370z and I can say one of the things that do bug me a lot is how the transmission (manual) makes a little grinding noise. Yes this is Normal for all Z’s. But I look pass that and I enjoy the car a lot! It’s one of my favorite cars I ever driven! I wouldn’t trade it for anything! Or less there’s a manual z than yeah of course 🤣🤣🤣 but another thing that I might add is that, if your looking for a z and want blue tooth, get a sports or nismo model. Or less your planning on building it from the ground up (which is what I’m doing) but aside from that. It’s a very reliable car and very unique one :) a quick FYI tho if your looking for your first manual. I highly recommend getting a civic or a mustang first before this one. The clutch in it is very weird to get use to and learn how to drive, I made that mistake but it was a learning experience for me and I enjoyed it! But just don’t get discouraged by it tho. If you have the money to get one, get it and have a buddy or parents drive it to a empty parking lot and learn how to atlease get it going, that’s how learned and it will frustrate you but it’s worth it!

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed

    Trunk issue is identical on 370z Touring... I'm thinking it's a safety feature (trunk says, "are you sure you want me open bro"). Great video! Great perspectives! I'm wondering if you get the water drainage after going to the car wash then opening the infamous "trunk" on a sports car? I agree the interior Hollywood engine noise... no bueno, non cool feature. The body styling is very sleek and aggressive. $1 for $1 nothing can touch the performance in my 370Z Touring... can only drool about what the NISMO can dishout. We can help with your t-shirts printing and distribution oevae.com "we been doing this!" NO MIN. ORDERS. You have a nice logo too! Again, great video and the trunk latch is extraordinarily pooy!

    the truck problem is from a 3lbs weight that is bolted behind the plastic on the trunk. nissan put that there to help out with closing the trunk once i took it off i havent had an issue with it since 👍

      @BrosFOURRSpeed  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      How do you get to that weight?

    • @zona_z34
      @zona_z34 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      the black plastic piece on the under side of the trunk the hooks that hold the trunk cover take the covers off on each side which will expose 2 10mm bolts thake those off then the that huge plastic off which will uncover the weight that has 10mm bolts holding it on once you take that off put everything back together and you wont have the issue anymore!

  • @zedmanz
    @zedmanz 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Your comment about the stiff ride made me think about an issue 370z Nismo owners have had in the UK. When new Nismo cars are shipped, Nissan put black plastic shipping spacers in the suspension springs. These spacers are supposed to be removed before the car is delivered to the new owner, but some dealers don't remove them.
    Here's a pic of a spring with a spacers still in place (its the black plastic thing on the left of the spring, just below the green sticker. forums.nissansportz.com/topic/39279-tyres-pressures-nismo-v1v2-shipping-spacer-removal/?p=397968
    It may be worth checking if you still have spacers - they shouldn't be there & they make an already firm ride even stiffer.

    for the trunk, put some silicone spray lubricant on the weatherstripping so it doesn't stick so much and/or replace your trunk struts. the gas in the struts maybe failing. Just a few thoughts to fix your 1st complaint.

      @BrosFOURRSpeed  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The silicone might work. I can hear the rubber seal pealing off in the mornings when I first open it. I don't think the previous owner ever opened the trunk, since this was not his daily.

    Just to clarify the solution for your 'trunk not opening' issue (it's been a problem on 350's & 370's ever since they were launched in 2003). The very quick, cheap (it costs 4 pennies) and effective answer is here: forums.nissansportz.com/topic/25834-replacement-springs-for-the-370z-rear-hatch/?p=313044
    You simply put 2 pennies in each of the two trunk springs (see pic in my link). It takes 30 minutes maximum.
    It's the only solution that works permanently, apart from taking the metal weight out from inside the trunk lid, thus making the trunk lighter.

  • @spinxtercell
    @spinxtercell 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think most hatchback trunk lids have to be pushed twice. My old 99 Camaro is like that, because imagine if you hit the trunk unlock on accident while driving?

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed
      @BrosFOURRSpeed  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The only way to open it is the button on the bumper. It's just too heavy of a lid or something for the springs they use.

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed

      I've heard a lot of people having the trunk issues. Mainly cars with spoilers don't pop well because of the added weight which can over work the springs. For the engine, I think it's only the 15 and up nismo models. The speakers play audio like the engine is revving to help amplify the sound of the engine. My supra does that too, but I shut it off.
