Thank God his beautiful wife convinced him to start singing himself. He’s written tons of music for other artists and this is such a gift that we get to him singing for himself. ❤️🥰
Watch him cover, "It's a Man's World" . Some random band at some place he is at I guess just calls him up to sing, he blows this out of the water. It's amazing and just shows CS total soul/RB package.
At an early age I was exposed to all genres of music ranging from classical, rock, blues, and soul. Took piano lessons for 13 years in hopes of being a classical pianist. Those plans didn’t work out, but my love of music will never die. I remember listening to Sam and Dave, Otis Redding right along with Black Sabbath, Led Zepplin, The Who, and Janis Joplin. I’ll be the old lady in the nursing head banging to Metallica. Music has the power to heal and bring people together.
I read that his wife, Morgane stands & sings where he can see her, because he has severe stage fright. You'd never be able to tell. He just seems so laid back.
That's right. Chris is a songwriter. That's what he did for years. Morgan is the one that pushed him to actually perform the songs he writes. I guess there's consessions when you're doing something you're not fond of. She was willing to pay for that. Thanks to her we have this amazing artist to enjoy
@@ChanelStuff He was performing long before this. I saw him many times at bluegrass festivals with the “Steel Drivers” his wife wasn’t in that band and he sang his heart out all the time. I’m not saying wherever you read that doesn’t believe it, but I’ve seen him several times before he was famous performing live.
@@MrMar10Guitar okay. Can't remeber exactly where I read it the first time but I've read it several times and if I remember correctly, on a couple of videos as well. But if you saw him live before he was famous it doesn't mean that none of this is true. Congrats on seeing Chris live. I'd love that
I can see that but honestly he never gives a interview without giving his wife credit . True love between those two for sure . Love his music and voice .
This is my FAVORITE version of this song! He is in top form vocally (as always), but I love how he keeps sneaking glances at his wife, and her harmonies really enhance the performance. Oh, please keep going down this rabbit hole! His live performances are almost always my favorite. I like the recorded version of Death Row because there are some musical effects that enhance the sound of the song that get lost in the live performances I've seen. And please watch the official video for Fire Away if you react to that song. It has a deep meaning related to mental health that the video supports. He just performed, "Cold" luve at the CMAS and that was 🔥. Did you know he did a duet with H.E.R.? Or a cover of Metallica's, "Nothing Else Matters?" The man does not box himself in musically and can do anything! Enjoy the journey!
I grew up in Chicago in the 60s. When all music was played on every station. WLS, WIND,ETC. Even the (underground) stations on FM played it all. Having said all of this, I want to thank you for FEELING this song not just ratting it to today’s standards. I love everything you said. That alone gave me hope for the music of tomorrow and the acceptance of mankind. If we can ever accept each other, let it start with music from the heart. Thank you
I have been a George Jones fan for about 50 years and I love his work. His version of Tennessee Whiskey was released in 1983 and I liked his version but Chris Stapleton KILLED this song. Trent Reznor said of his song Hurt after Johnny Cash covered it, "That is now Johnny Cash's song". Even though David Allen Coe and George Jones both recorded this long before Chris got ahold of it, I feel like Tennessee Whiskey is now Chris Stapleton's song. I think Chris' wife's contribution to this song is often overlooked and that is unfortunate because she nails the harmony and she is exactly in sync with Chris. BTW, thank you for giving her Kudos also! I am grinning ear to ear because I have been warning Reactors who were never country music fans to be careful because I told them exposure would get them hooked. Welcome aboard.
I agree, in my 70's I grew up listening to George Jones and David Allen Coe ( he is actually my cousin ) and he agrees that this is Chris's song. I love both George and David's recordings but Chris's is at a whole other level and vibe.
I was just going o say, anyone who can make country fans forget Coe and Jones is a force to be reckoned with. Thing is, Chris turned it into a r& b song.
Love Chris Stapleton and love this song.... I'm sure somewhere in the comments someone has posted and recommended to you to see the Chris Stapleton and Justin Timberlake Duo on the CMAs, that was incredible. I believe that was in 2015. Definitely need to see that one and do a review if you haven't.
I live in the Pensacola area, and before the LOCKDOWN we had a Song Writers Festival every year. So some us got to meet Chris before he was famous, before he was married....this was back in his single, poor, gonna make it somehow days. He was known then as extremely talented, extremely shy, and a gentle man. Enter Morgane!
I was born in the early 1960's and my Mother was a huge influence on my love of and appreciation for many different genres of music. My Father was Country through and through but my Mother was gifted with a beautiful Soprano voice, her voice was so beautiful that she won a scholarship to the Julliard School Of Music and she literally woke us up every morning singing a song. Our house was filled with every style of music from early Classical, Swing, Opera, Jazz, Country, early Rock N Roll. And with every passing decade we added that decades music to our list. Soft Rock, Hard Rock, Pop, even Heavy Metal. I never appreciated the wonderful gift of music she gave us until I grew older and now I can't imagine my life without it. I feel bad for people who did not have that exposure.
@@DjPjrocReacts911 Thank you. Some people say they don't like or can't stand Country Music and then it turns out that they have never really listened to it, and that makes me sad. I'm so glad you have given Country Music a good chance by listening to several different songs and artists, that is why I'm on this journey with you and have been since the start. @@katmbbaker7804 I agree. Labeling music always limits the listener, can narrow one's musical experience. As a Bluegrass fan, and banjo picker, I have run into stereotyping, and prejudice for that genre, often from people who are ignorant of the music. Sad that people miss out on some great music because they "hate" that type. "Tennessee Whiskey" can be labelled as Country, or just as legitimately as Blues. Same song, different label. The great Earl Scruggs was an innovator of Bluegrass, but he didn't care for labels; he just loved music, and loved playing music, no matter what genre.
