I purchased 3 cases of 2003/04 Exquisite back in 2004 for $500/box and opened all of them (of course). I got a total of 1 Lebron James card in the whole thing. By the way, I never had any of them graded. By 2010 I had sold them all which I regret now of course. I still have a lot of the 2003-04 Ultimate Collection cards stored away. Sold most of the good ones though.

The 23/23 rpa sold on October 24th, 2001, for $2.4m and had a grade of BGS 8.5. It's funny because in April of 2021, the 7/23 went for $5.2m, and it was a BGS 9. It's crazy how a difference of 0.5 could make it worth more than double and that the jersey number 23 didn't give it the premium you would expect when comparing it to the number 7 selling price of $5.2m.

The 23/23 lebron RPA was found! It was in a specially marked and signed box by lebron in 23/23 it had all of the biggest lebron hits all in one box and the guys who got it split it up right away lol. Check it on youtube I’m sure u can find it “The lebron exquisite box”

Wrong year. 2003 had no such boxes.

Anyone know why BGS seems the dominant, preferred company for this set (vs. PSA)? Never noticed such a consistently high percentage for a single set before. Almost all the grading is BGS.

Collectors prefer grading thicker stock cards to BGS. EVERY Exquisite card RPAs, base, patches were thick.

I remeber a huge price difference in BGS and PSA, back then. HUGE. Beckett used to be respected and had standards... The monthly Beckett price guide magazine made them a go to for grading over anyone else... They used to be untouchable.

Not sure why the logoman is still being pumped when it seems clear that a sick patch will ultimately hold more value... Also a bit disingenuous to say "unbroken upward trajectory" with no reference to the difference between April, 2021 and October, 2021. Whichever grading company can achieve an accurate pop count (shouldn't be too hard, right?) wins. Finally, its debatable whether grade will trump the aesthetic quality of the patch in the long run. I could live without a gold label if the patch was numero uno.

There have been one in the last three golden auctions. Good hype job though
