I think a big part of Vince's popularity, aside from that amazing dunk competition performance, is because he played for Canada's only (surviving) NBA franchise. On top of that, he brought the Raptors a lot of legitimacy as a competitive team from the late90s-early00s, while the Grizzlies died a slow death with 28 or 29wins being that franchise's best season. It went south for Vince in T.O. over a one to two year period, and Vince was hated for a decade or more, after many fans felt he had phoned in his last season before his trade demands were met. For the past 3 or 4 years though, Toronto fans, and I'd say most Canadian basketball fans have warmed back up to him, probably helping to keep a pretty healthy demand on his cards up here.

Wow, a couple of those cards could be pulled from "junk" wax or factory sets. Around 2010 I used to break a bunch of junk wax to submit cards for grading. At that time obscure was the way to go. Master player sets were popular and you just had to submit cards that were break even as a 9 or a big profit as a ten. Of course back then you could do a bulk submission for $6 a card and get them back in less than 3 months.
Great video as always brother. So I got into the Hobby last year in May when I saw that Mike Trout hard sell for almost a Mil. I had no idea going into the hobby that I had gold sitting in my garage and I immediately put this card in to a sleeve protector and Toploader. Thankfully it was in pristine condition. It was a Kobe Bryant tops 138 that one of my friends gave to me in a pile of sports junk he wanted no longer 🤙🏽

Psa 9 topps chrome 1996 Kobe is actually selling for over $5k on avg af the moment.
Cards are going up so fast, I post a video and a few hours later its outdated :)
I know... it’s unbelievable. Glad I held onto them.
I'm glad someone else noticed this. Even his base 1996 rookie has gone crazy in the last few weeks. Good luck to anyone trying to snag a chrome of any grade for less than $2-3000.
@@brianb1029 I know... I just picked up 2 more 96 topps base in 1 psa 8.5 and 1 psa 8. Probably should’ve gotten a 9 instead, but I’m still good with the 8’s and up
It's absolutely crazy that Shaq isn't top five in value, especially with his best card being condition sensitive.
its already changed. search his topps gold foil or reg topps psa 10s at thousands.
Shaq is and was the man. His cards should demand more. The Shaq upper deck RC is perfect along with Michael Jordan in the set. Beautiful cards.
Man I have a lot of cards from 80s to 90s and don’t even know if I have a valuable one
Haven't bought cards since the 90s. I got that kobe upper deck on the right. When they started grading cards i got out of it
Yeah grading turned off a lot of collectors. Nice Kobe card you have!
you said stephon marbury but his real name is starbury
nice vid!
Luckily i kept my:
2 Kobe RC
6 KG RC
1 AI RC
2 TMAC RC
2 Duncan RC
3 Marbury RC
4 Penny RC
1 GH RC
1 Kemp RC
1 Mourning RC
1 Billlups RC
1 Eddie Jones RC
Thanks I have some.
Kobe worth more than all the others combined!!
Crazy, right!
Damn, I miss 90s NBA!
still have my collection. I may just have to piss the wife off and dig it out.. sets, unopened boxes and 1000's and thousands of cards mostly NBA.
I miss the 90s NBA too! Dig the cards out, have a trip down memory lane
It’s weird that the glove and Shawn Kemp rookies are from 1990 but they weren’t drafted in the same year.
Kobe out sells everyone on the list combined 🤔 Kobe or 19 others? 🤷🏻♂️
No disrespect to Kobe but that doesn't seem right
I'd gladly take the other 19 cards vs that 1 Kobe if I had to choose.
whats new. Look at Mike Trout vs. Every other HOF quality player. Hobby latches onto a few guys and their prices dominate the market
@@collectorinvestordealer hey Chris, don't be hate'n on Kobe lol
Remember opening so much of the 1992 Classic basketball to get Shaq's first card since he had an exclusive deal with Classic to start. UD had the redemption since they couldn't have him on a card just yet. those Classics were a scam, they made so much of it. Oh well, had fun as a 12 year old boy opening all those packs
I remember that too. The Classic were so mass produced and EVERYONE wanted that UD redemption
Classic 😂, yeah they were the most mass produced cards back then with ScoreBoard printing more cards to supply demand as needed and a shady owner.
Well now I know I need a Pierce rookie card
I thought Penny Hardaway Rookie cards would be worth something but they ain't really worth squat. Crazy considered how good of a player he was. Nice video btw
Man was waiting for something like this I got a bunch of these cards for a change!! Also AI should not be #29 should be atleast in the top 20 for the ESPN list smh!!
Very cool! I agree, the ESPN list has some rankings that dont quite make sense to me.
Ah man, I miss the days of $6 bulk and 2-3 month turnaround!
Jason Williams 1998 SP goes for around 49.00 in a psa 9 White Chocolate!
Ah good catch! You are totally right, I overlooked that
Steve Nash is a Canadian. Canada game is Ice Hockey.
Thats awesome! Nice unexpected treasure to come across!
@@collectorinvestordealer I'm thinking this copy of Kobe's first rookie card will be equivalent to Jordan's Fleer. What do you think?
Could be. The difference is Kobe has a bunch of Rookies whereas Jordan only has the one. But I think his Topps & Topps Chrome will be alltime iconic
@@collectorinvestordealer Agreed. I'm debating if I want to sell my prized possession with his Hall of Fame induction and I still have to grade it. I think I'd rather hold onto this card long-term.
Carter still active in the league, so I’m guessing younger collectors have pushed his prices up.
Vince Carter retired last year, but your point is still taken.
Vince carter has played in 4 different decades! 🙌🔥
Wow, hadnt thought of that. Thats impressive
he also played in the 60's as Gomer Pyle's drill Sergeant, so that means 5 decades...LOL!
Got every single Shaq card made :)
🤯 That's awesome.
I don't know if I ever want to get rid of my Penny Finest.
I was a big Penny fan and I really wanted that card for a while. But it was expensive back in the day!
@@collectorinvestordealer I know right. He's still my favorite player ever, Lol
He was ridiculous before injuries got him
@@collectorinvestordealer Yes indeed. Great vid
I know the feeling, back then I was collecting Penny hardaway and Eddie Jones.
I expected Larry Johnson!?
I have that Allen I version card and job base . I got lucky 😭
I'm surprise that Jayson William didn't make the list.....
Who do you recommend for selling cards?
9:26 Incorrect, Dirk Nowitzki didn’t win league MVP that year it was Derrick Rose however Dirk won Finals MVP that year and won league MVP for the 2006-07 season.
Great catch, you are 100% right
Latrel sprewell was a hot prospect back in the day too.. until it went side-ways for him
Yeah I remember his cards being on absolute fire at one point
I mean, the man has to feed his family.. 50mil just wasn’t enough 😆
@@melvinleong3731 That was hilarious 🤣
Adding Glenn Robinson as one those hot players that fizzled after a couple of years
Hey I know this is a bit late to ask you this but where do you check the prices for all your cards? Ebay listings are kind of all over the places and it seems like you are able to find a average. Thanks for the great content as always!
I mainly use vintagecardprices.com. They do require a subscription.
Missing 2 rare rookies for kemp and payton, 1990 Kayo Supersonics set
Like this guy hes cool
