22:10 That might be true for now but there is one last biome after Ashlands. Maybe the Yetis, or what ever is going to be in the Frozen North, will be susceptible to poison/lightening.
You can aim the catapult while being connected to it by zooming out. Then use catapult's arm as a visual aid. Is is also possible to lower the legs while still being connected. Flat terrain helps. Place shield generator (and keep it fed) if you are worried of enemy ballistae. Take them out. Bombard the courtyard not the walls - the goal is to take out the spawners (and locals). Finally use the battering ram, enter the fortress and mop up any strugglers. That is probably the intended way.
Respect for trying to play 'as intended'. I usually sling a lot of ember staff fireballs from a distance and climb my way in. Also good fun: walk up to the wall and summon some trolls using the Trollstav, sit back and grab some popcorn. :-D
hey, you found the crafting table filter, so just hold all the new items in inventory and it will highlight in list (and hope there isnt a crap ingredient needed). one day they will have a real filter/sort 🤷♂. those janky siege engines 😅
Its pretty simple . . . build ladder to top of wall . . . activate bonemass power . . . hop over and clear everything in 90 seconds. Done. Sadly the forts were a big disappointment for me. I was hoping for some epic long drawn out siege experience but it really fell flat. I generally loved the rest of the Ashlands experience however!
@trengilly01 same lol. Build a ramshackle entrance platform, and Over The Side. I've only died like this once and it was 100% my fault. Came back as a mage and cleaned up what was still twitching
I'm thinking the next tiers of Flametal armor will come along similarly to level 3 and level 4 carapace armors; it'll be somewhere between now and the release of the Deep North for tier 3, and tier 4 will likely be upon release.
I would guess its a choice by the devs to make earlier biomes combat still relevant. Like if you go to the plains to farm black metal you still gotta fight the loxes, you cant just walk around one shotting anything.
So this is 27 minutes of why not to use a siege weapon in Valheim
It escapes me how no one is using fire resist meads. It trivializes warlocks

Dont forget that the lightning weapons also have 25% chance for a chainlightning proc that do pretty good aoe damage.

Last couple minutes were intense!
Step 1: Make the Trolstav
Step 2: Drop fire trolls in the fortress until everything is gone
Step 3: Build a staircase over the wall
Done
I always use fire resistance in these situations.
I am surprised they didn't put a ward in the center tower of the fortress' if they didn't want people building up to them.
Build up and jump in.

Crzay how there is still no "dismantle" option for things like catapults boat and else. They could add a lil time penalty bar to make it realistic idk
pro tip i found today, use silver sword, it deals 45 spirit
The Stormfang gets 10 spirit dmg when fully upgraded.
Completely underwhelmed by the Ashlands weapons/armor. They just don't feel like the next tier.

The gem versions seem better, especially the lightening axes.
no fire resistance potion? use aoe hammer to clean the mobs
No battering ram? If this was recorded after the last stream I don't blame you. Both siege weapons look rather unwieldy.
can you show you base?
Very nice Video
lol, what is it with germanic people and insisting on intended mechanics? I have only used the catapult to harvest grausten
