    That is false, I’ve never met a lactose intolerant person who doesn’t go “screw my allergy, I want dairy”

    I wonder if it depends on where it's shipped from. For example, here in Oregon, Tillamook brand is local and their ice cream is SO GOOD. It tastes really fresh and it's super creamy. But people elsewhere say it's bad ice cream. Maybe the trick is to get ice cream from the brand that has a manufacturing facility nearest to you (not where they're headquartered, but if they have a factory nearby)

    • @ziontrigg
      @ziontrigg 3 ปีที่แล้ว +14

    Fun fact, despite its name, Häagen-Dazs is an American brand. And it's something the owners just came up with because they thought it sounded Danish (the Jewish owners wanted a Danish-sounding name as tribute to Denmark's treatment of Jews during WWII). But ä and zs do not exist in Danish. However similar words in Danish, hagen and das means chin and outhouse respectively.

      I am glad that you found something to pull you through. I just didn't eat any ice cream during that time.

      IIRC (I'm not sure if it's this one or some different, but I know it was about ice cream brand), I heard a story by (I think) the daughter of the founder, that the founder was doing something in the kitchen and was constantly speaking out loud words as potential names for the brand until he stumbled upon something that sounded "foreign" enough.

    My favorite is Friendly's, a brand that's surprisingly still around. But they're hardly in the South, they're all up here in the Northeast. If you go to a Friendly's restaurant, you gotta have dessert. Even if you don't have room or it's too early for dessert. I love their French vanilla and mint chocolate chip sold in markets.
