The Brandenburg PU thingy is put there in case the player wants to unite the HRE, since Brandenburg is an elector and having them as a vassal decreases Imperial Authority gain while having them in a Personal Union doesn’t
The development in PUs also don't count when determining your subjects' loyalty based on development, so it can be useful to have a PU if they get a ton of claims through mission (like Byzantium).
Doesn't the event say that the vassal age will be viewed as legitimate though? I thought that meant that there would be no malice for subjugated electors. Or does that only apply to the AI's decision on who to vote for?

25:23 Personal unions are better than Vassals not the other way around. The only downside of PUs is that they take longer to be enabled for integration (50 years vs 10), however, the upside is HUGE. Vassals consider the strength of all vassals when calculating liberty desire. PU members calculate it purely you vs them. Meaning not only will they never be disloyal, but by being a PU they reduce the liberty desire of all vassals by not contributing to total vassal power.
@@martinvokurka6153 In what way exactly? The only downside is you can't integrate them until 50 years pass, but having subjects tends to be better than owning land yourself. The main reason to annex subjects is to keep disloyalty down.
Playing Hussite Bohemia an cuture shifting to Prussian to form Prussia and Germany was a lot of fun, the Bohemia section gives you loads of eastern vassals with the Prussian military and German claims

Oh, this needs a second episode. The holy sites of Rome, Constantiople and Moscovy (and possibly the Holy Land itself) need to return to One True Faith. It's what Jan Hus would have wanted.
Watching Laith culture convert inside the same culture group which also gives him -30 opinion modifier per province for Poland, that just hurt. But at least Hussite seems fun.
Bohemia is so damn fun as Hussite. My last game as it I never expanded outside of Czechia, Slovakia, and Silesia. Literally everything else I owned was through Vassals and PUs. Converted a vast majority of Europe to Hussite too
Nice video! Did a campaign like this once, it was a struggle at times bc I didn't understand how to culture switch and do any formavles but it was fun none the less
Bohemia took the reformation center during my Poland game. It spread pretty immediately to my provinces, and *only* my provinces, to the point where staying Catholic would've just been a hassle. So, Hussite Commonwealth happened, and is to date my best Poland game.
annoyingly it does seem like centers of reform have a heavier weighting to convert player provinces. Ive had italy games where ive been sniped across europe by protestant centers in north germany, it made very little sense
Usually whenever i play in western europe (i'm fond of france/burgundy/hre gameplay), centres of reformation seem to simply avoid me. In my latest savoy to italy game, literally all of germany and italy (including austria and every papal province except rome) converted to protestantism, except mine. Not even once did a centre of reformation even try to convert my provinces
You should use your missionaries to convert your subjects, there is a box you have to check off in the religion tab to do so. Lithuania has a lot of catholic provinces left.
the really nice thing about hussite bohemia is that it almost totally cancels out the HRE mechanics; you can convert a ton of germany easily to ease up AE(which only improves by the time reformed spawns and you have a four way split.) Plus it’s really not easy to get IA when half of germany is hussite in 1470!! makes for really fun campaign
And if you do convert half of Germany and you take the decision to switch to Protestant when the Reformation begins, it's basically guaranteed that you will win the League War.
Quick comment: I actually kinda dislike the whole coming up thing, for me it doesn’t really add anything and spoils part of the video. But apart from that great video as always, love religion related stuff in Eu4.

PU members calculate it purely you vs them. Meaning not only will they never be disloyal, but by being a PU they reduce the liberty desire of all vassals by not contributing to total vassal power.
Also, there is a chance that you just inherit the lands of a PU when you get a new monarch.
It also affects voting and imperial authority gain for a non-Hussite Bohemia game.
Pus are better than vassals only in sp and not even in every scenario. Vassals are still better imo, way more versatile
