Could have been better I Don't think he realized that the Romans new about Greenland which technical is a part of North America but no use vikings which everyone knows they knew about America so he used it in a ROMAN AMERICA RUN... just a small thing that made me and almost certainly only me mad...
newb mann The Vikings were imperial Byzantine guards for several centuries called the Varangian Guard so I think they gave the emperor information on this. What I did not understand though is how easily they took South America which was colonized by multiple European states. The Byzantines fled some years before Constantinople would have fallen, which means they only had a few primitive cannons. In terms of technology this is important because gunpowder quickly was improved upon and better cannons and firearms were made over the centuries in Europe
If I was to write a book about this, I might write it in the style of diary entries by every emperor from their coronation to their last day, beginning with Ioannes VIII on the day of the flight to elysia. Although I may never get to it so if you think that's a good idea you can take it if you want

I’m trying to imagine what society would look like in Spartakon and Elysium and among their neighbors. With the large amount of annexation and assimilation of and with the local native north and meso-americans, would their architecture remain predominantly Late Era Roman? Or would they adopt local architectural designs such as angular buildings and stepped pyramidal structures? Would their language sound predominantly greek or would it be a mish-mash of the various native languages and dialects? Most likely the diseases they brought with them would wreak havoc among the natives, but what changes would be seen among the survivors? Would Spartakon influence in Mexico see the Aztecs wearing steel armour and wielding steel weaponry? Or would they continue to use their native obsidian based armaments and cloth armour? So many questions that can lead to who knows what kind of outcome if you follow the time line. The introduction of greek fire in jungle warfare alone could lead to who knows how many kinds of outcomes?
European colonizers kept their language and culture in our timeline, so I'm sure such strong Greco-Roman culture and greek language would remain unwithered.
Have you wa.tched CPG Grey's video on the plague of America? I think the fact that large dirty and urbanised cities that didn't exist in the Americas as well as the lack of Horses and other trade animals suddenly being introduced would certainly shift the dynamic
How did you even expand that fast? I've been playing this mod and i can barely expand having to colonize one province at a time or risk my economy crashing down. Also natives tend to ally each other which makes for winnable but very long wars. No way in hell i can get that much land by 1520.

There is no way in hell that Elysia could have become that big before the invention of steam power or the telegraph. It would have taken weeks to get imperial edicts out to the outermost territories, hell that's what ended the Roman Empire and that was smaller than north America.
I like to think that rather than completely abandoning Christianity they converted to Greco-Paganism but incorporated Jesus into it similar to how Constantine I worshiped Christ as his patron god among the Roman Pantheon.
That would make for an AMAZING novel or TV series! The lore of this episode is very fascinating, and I'd love to see it expanded into other media :) That's hell of an accomplishment for a Time Laps of a EU4 campaign :D

It was also nice to see you fabricate a decline for the empire, stock EU4 is really poor at that.

Such an interesting and wonderfully crafted story! Quick question though, why are there so many tribes in North america in this timelapse? As someone who frequently plays in the area, what adjustments did you use to make so many tribes present?
Dovska is using the Third Odyssey mod. The mod actually provides the story, letting the player chose from probably hundreds of different story choice throughout the playthrough, like whether they want to remain Christian or convert to paganism. The mod also changes the layout of provinces in the Americas, and adds quite a few more totemist nations and changes the way they work. For example, as Elysia begins having already embraced feudalism, feudalism will soon spread to neighbouring native tribes. This will change their tech group from North American to (and please excuse my spelling) Karakawa Oneka (translating to fire-water, or alcohol) to represent the cultural and technological diffusion between the Greek settlers and the native peoples. This is just one of dozens of changes the mod brings to the game.
Well, the roman empire survive 1700 years, and if we only talk about the "bizantium empire" they survive for 1000 years. So, i guess that the empire of the video should have survive more year (sorry for the bad english )
