Helping my fishing buddy with his ultrex. Your video is a blessing for us old folks. Got the new cables in but ran into a big problem, one of them seemed to fit but the other was way to long. Looked at the part numbers on the old cables and one ended in 515 and the other ended in 505. The new cables that the parts person gave us were both 515’s. Three hour drive to the dealer for the wrong parts!
Good video. If I can add a tip that just helped me, loosen the cable tension screw to give the cables enough slack to more easily allow you to pull the pulley wheel into postion. This is when replacing the LEFT cable.
Dude, thanks for the post. This video helped me install two new cables, just in the nick of time (tournament in three days). Keep posting bud, you're helping folks like me that don't want to wait for, or pay for a repair shop!
say i need a long chord for a foot pedal but i can only find short chorded foot pedal trolling motors to buy used.. can i cut the wiring in the middle of the chord and extend a foot pedal?
@@FishingwithNordbye I tried minnkota technical support and no help. He was clueless. Kinda sucks having an $3k trolling motor with no help from manufacturer
Thanks for the vid as that is my issue today while fishing on Toledo B. On spot lock went to move off spot lock and pedal went loose now does not turn.
I got the 2 cables replaced as per your video and now the things work in reverse. I verified the right cables to the correct side which they can fit only one way. When I try to turn motor to the right(toe press) the pedal starts to go down but it is forcing the pedal back up and motor goes left. And opposite for other direction. Manually turning the shift every turns correctly. Confused at this point. Any suggestions? Thanks
@@FishingwithNordbye thanks. I found the issue. The 2 pin connector was on wrong. Swapped out and all works great. Thanks again for your video and tight lines
i did mine .It is much easier to cut that rubber sleeve fron the trolling motor to foot pedal.Bass pro or amazon sells a upgrade for $20 cloth and velcro .Minn kota gave me the cables for free they upgraded them kind of a recall .Be very careful if you cut that sleeve easy to cut the wires inside. Thanks for your video.

Thanks for this.
One tip. When you tie the old cable to the new one, wrap it in electrical tape. It'll fish easier and add strength.
Nice!

Thanks so much Kevin! That's awesome to hear!! God bless!
Exactly what I needed to see, the wrapping of the cable up front.
Awesome!!
Want you to show the inside of the foot palle
Sorry
Great overview for folks that may run into this problem! As always, a great job.
Thanks so much!
Thanks for the video. I’m waiting for my parts to arrive but in the meantime, I have everything apart and waiting. Thanks a bunch
Thanks Chris! Good luck installing!

Which cable is which? Left right. Top of pulley, bottom of pulley
Can’t remember. I replaced them both and took one off a time to see.

So awesome! Glad it helped!
what was the symptom when it broke? did the pedal flop freely or did the tm head move to the left by itself?
Loose pedal! And when on spot lock only turned one way and wrapped
Well done thank you for the tutorial on this issue.
Yes sir!
Thanks, great useful video, we need more diy videos
Thank you Keith!

Hmmm I would say the cables are swapped on the connections somehow or not wrapped around the piece they connect to at the head correctly

My brand new Ultrex foot pedal doesn’t seem to move at all up or down . Do I need to completely remove the tension screw from under foot control ?
How long did it actually take. Lol bet not a three minute video. Every time I do a 15 minute job it ends up taking me 2 hours. I’m sure you can relate
Took an hour by myself!
too fast norby i was with you but too fast
You can pause it!
