    Just changed mine out. It was a snap! Thanks for the great video. For anyone about to do this I DID NOT need a heat gun. Impact drill with a new bit no problem. Maybe I got lucky.

    You have to wonder at only 18 months of moderate to heavy use those bushings fail?!?! That probably shouldnt happen to a 3,000+ trolling motor!! Anywho great videos as usuall!! Cant wait for your take on the vexus!

    Ken
    Good point on catching up on Trolling motor maintenence after last tourney.
    My ultrex issue :
    On manual control my motor automatically turns on andI would have to touch the foot pad to stop it. Now its running contineuous on manual mode. Understand a simple fix in the foot control to repair.
    Thanks again.

    Ken, I love these tips and information videos you do. So I checked my brackets and all seems well. However, my Ultrx shaft from the head down through the units bracket seems loose, just not as firm as I think it should be. Do you think you could add a part 2+ on this part of the Ultrex?

    Ken I've only had my ultrex for a few months and it has started that popping and creaking crap already!!!!
    They mentioned in the install instructions to if possible use the outer mount holes on the base but my aluminum express already had those rivet nuts set

      Brian I suspect it's the bracket, not how it's mounted, mine is noisy as well

    The ultrex has a 3 yr. warranty. Was this repair covered or not ??

    • @KenSmithFishing
      @KenSmithFishing  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Michael, my understanding is it’s considered normal wear and therefore generally not covered.

      @@KenSmithFishing That really sucks,yours 18mos old ? Mine is ayear and has been in the shop for 3 different problems,at least they were under warranty,poor product quality,have had many trolling motors that were many years old with only a cable break They seem to be using the cheapest materials available and charging outrageous prices for a bunch of crap. Thanks for the reply,really enjoy your videos from all the way in Fla. !!!

    Unrelated. But are you doing a VX20/VX21? Curious how it adds up. I heard the rough water ride is unbelievable. Ranger slow so not a 75mph rig but who cares. Lol

    One word of warning if you pull the trolling motor out of the bracket, make sure to remove the hydraulic assist first. That bracket can break an arm if it gets released with a body part in the way. Best idea is to pay someone that knows what they are doing. It's less expensive than a ER visit.

    Just an experienced helpful hint. Get rid of the extension on the impact driver. You are losing a ton of torque

    • @KenSmithFishing
      @KenSmithFishing  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Really?

    • @jimk4267
      @jimk4267 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@KenSmithFishing Yes the extension absorbs the impacting and twists reducing torque at the bit or socket . A poor quality bit or socket will do the same.

    Are thier bushings on the top side of the motor? (Below the head on the other pivot point on the bracket) ?
