    I encountered a problem and thought I better share:
    If you sand the nib down too much, it can be that the pen will not work properly and hold the "click" nonstop. Just switching out the nib for a new one fixed my problem.

      Is that nib dead, or is there a way to save it?
      Edit: I think the nib stops working after sanding because the surface became too rough, I’ve been rubbing the nib on my desk, and it’s started to work properly again :D

    Thank you for the animation. I have a really hard time understanding things. So it may have been overkill but it made a huge difference for me

    another thing you can do is reduce the friction of the drawing surface. You can put acetate sheets, acrylic, hydrogel or glass con top of the drawing tablet.
    this also chances the feel, you may like it more

      That's some good additional advice. Thank you!

    I would say keeping the tablet CLEAN is BY FAR the # 1 piece of advice .

    drawing round and round in little circles on the smooth surface of my desk helps create a smooth tip on my old nibs.
    I might look into the sanding thing tho

    Most effective tip: be procrastinating actually drawing so pen never gets used in first place 😭

    I heard Wacom stainless steel nibs are also a good resolution to this, especially for the Intuos tablets! I'm not sure for the Cintiqs though, but might be worth to try that out!

    i never really buy nibs, i always copy the structure of the nib on my head and re craft it using household items, it usually turns out better or same quality as the original sold nibs.

    • @Mink-tDR
      @Mink-tDR  3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      If you can craft your own nibs, then that's also a great way to save money of course!

    The plastic nibs for the Wacom Pro series wear out too fast for my liking, I switched to felt nibs and they seem to last waaaaaay longer.

    I recently got my first wacom tablet and was worried since I heard that the nibs wore down quickly. My chromebook doesn't support the button on the pen, so I just rotate the pen in my grip to keep the wear even, and once I changed the pressure sensitivity, I only needed to press very lightly to make a good line. Thanks for the tips!

      I've personally had never worn down an entire nib of my Wacom Intuos' pen, and I've used it for around 4 whole years now! (and I assure you I press down quite a lot) 😆🙂 Just said it to you not to worry too much or be 'scared' to press down or use it with 'fear'. Good luck with your art!😄

    I started sketching with a good old pencil on paper and a good trick to keep the tip sharp, was to rotate the pencil once in a while. As i started with digital painting i adapted this technic and it worked fine for me. But i must say, that i don´t use the buttons of the pen and have turned them off. Otherwhile this would by very anoying, if you press this buttons unwanted.

    can you thinly coat the just the tip of the nib in some kind of hard epoxy? Then re-coat every now and then, theoretically the tip should last indefinitely since only the epoxy coating wears out?

    • @bzashadows
      @bzashadows 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      i dont know much about this topic but i would make sure whatever material you are adding onto the nib doesnt have a higher hardness than the tablet surface itself.

    My brother's friend threw away the nibs for my wacom one pen at the airport accidentally and the ones I bought online don't work. The actual wacom one nibs are expensive to ship to my country so I can't get them. 😭😭

    i know this will be late but using an alloy or titanium alloy nib is ok to use? i got one and so far it functions like normal plastic nib but not wearing out

    • @Mink-tDR
      @Mink-tDR  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I honestly have no idea. Didn't even know that those versions exist.
      Would be great if they work normally, barely wear out and don't scratch the surface!

      Hello, how's it been? The nub is ok? and the tablet? Any difference? And also could you say some info about the "product"/nub, i am curious to buy one

    And there's any cover for the Galaxy S pen to prevent the wearing out ?

    Do you ever have to worry about sanding it down too far and losing the ability to get the nib out?

    • @Mink-tDR
      @Mink-tDR  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sanding it down too much and wasting material - yes.
      Not getting it out again anymore - not really.
      You'd have to REALLY overdo it until you can't grab it anymore with any kind of tool.

      If that happened glue tip of a toothpick or needle to the tip inside and let it dry then pull out

    My Pro Pen 2's nibs actually do rotate by themselves

    • @Mink-tDR
      @Mink-tDR  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Different pens are going to behave differently. In this case rotating the nibs by 180° obviously won't really help.

    People only have to buy silicone covers for nibs. They will extend the lifetime of the nibs way longer.
