Agree. I think Honda does skimp a bit on things like tech and gizmos, but you get it back on the dirty parts of the car: driving dynamics, refinement, reliability.

This is not about simplicity, Honda is extremely behind competition. New GMC Acadia looks better inside than current Acura MDX, forget about the Pilot. Honda needs to update their infotainment ASAP and it is not about the size of the screen.

I think simple is better! Piling all of those gizmos, including a flat screen tv size screen, is a recipe for disaster! Imagine the cost to fix those things once the car is out of warranty! Im really digging the looks of this new Pilot! It's going to age very well!

I'm considering moving from my Passport to a Pilot for the 3rd row (been a few times I wish I had the capability). Do they have the coolest interiors? Nope. It's really function over high tech for me. My Passport just starts up and gets me around town. The seats are comfortable and then engine is fine. Simple HVAC controls and no nonsense infotainment. I don't drive like a maniac (compared to my teen years) so I don't need crazy horsepower. My Passport has been able to get me up to speed when I need it and the Pilot will probably do the same thing given same V6 type engine. My wife has the Acura RDX and I will say it's fun to drive but my car is usually the "hauler" and so getting the Pilot will do what it needs to do. The Highlander does look nice but comes in at a higher price point. Just depends on what's important to you.

My Black edition arrives this week. I replaced the tires off the bat for Michelin Cross Climate. Since I live in mid Wisconsin, I need tires that have true snow chops. In usual Honda fashion, the OEM Bridgestones are crap. I optioned it with the blacked out rear H emblem. Like you I thought the rear silver H looked odd in a "mudered" car. I'll probably black out the rear fake exhaust ASAP.

I would keep the stock wheel and tire setup for summer, and I would get Black Rhino Voll 18x8 wheels and 265/65/18 Falken Wildpeak AT4W tires as your winter setup. It'll run you about $2400 for that winter wheel and tire package, but you'll love it for snow.

The Michelin cross climate is the only tire in the market that can boast to be as good in summer as in winter. It's not an extreme performance tire, but its a very good to excellent tire in all respects all year. For a vehicle like the Pilot, it's an excellent match particularly if you live in an area where snow is the rule rather than the exception. I've lived with swapping tires for 30 years, Its a breath of fresh air not having to do so. I still swap tires on my EQS, but Its a vehicle where Higg performance summer rubber makes a true difference. The Bridgestones that come with the Pilot are mediocre in summer and awful in winter. Honda simply equips them to squeeze less than an 1 MPG out of the Pilot and because they are cheap.

That is weird developing a new V6 with no major improvements. I agree why have a BE and have the Honda logo still chrome. Also why in the heck are there rear vents for the 3rd row in a mainstream vehicle and meanwhile the MDX does not have that at a way hight price point.

I'm also glad the V6 is their, but I rented a similar Pilot with this same new engine V6-
I have admit it feels way slower than last gen V6 which is disappointing to be honest for such a large vehicle.

I wanted this until I realize I can pay an extra 10k and have an MDX with better everything except 3rd row space which I didn't care about. SH-AWD changes everything, its the difference of driving a boat or driving a sedan. Pilot is all about the lower trims, if you're going for top trim, might as well get an MDX, if you can afford 56k, you can afford 66k. MDX is way easier on the eyes. Also better warranty across the board

@user1989fopfrs7 I have a TLX V6....the recalls I can deal with it as long as they deal with them properly, which they have! GM, VW and Ford, as per my experience, have not managed it properly and left me holding the bag.
I won't go with Toyota, not because of their recall issues, but because they are moving forward with 4-cylinder turbos -- not interested in small engines.
What separates manufacturers is not the number of recalls but how they manage the recall. Honda and Toyota are the best at it.

Yep the tech may be lacking…but I’m tired of renting cars with massive screens with a million sub menus to pair my damn phone, or turn on the damn seat heater. The v6 will last forever and the build quality is exceptional. Sorry Hyundai but your engines have lots of issues, that why I bypassed you. And Toyota Hylander just looks ugly on the inside. Built very well, zero rattles over bad roads, quiet, nice engine note, very stable/smooth at high speeds over 90- almost as good as my MB GLC. has enough tech that functions well but clearly not class leading. You are definitely not gonna impress others. But you will love driving this thing daily, it kind of impresses you more day to day .
