Agreed. The refreshed setup with the more powerful electric motor is a bit nicer and a nice hybrid powertrain. Feels conventional yet still very smooth. Not as efficient as Toyotas but it's good enough
I'm wondering if it's a battery location problem... the Tucson battery is under the rear seat, right? In the SC that underseat storage might be the problem, but worth the tradeoff to get the hybrid capability.
This model with a hybrid would be the perfect truck for my lifestyle. I love the looks, I do believe they will do, It wouldn’t be smart to not at least think about it.
7:28: "1411lbs, which is pretty good, considering the actual size of the Santa Cruise" 1411lbs payload is almost 3/4 ton. That's quite a lot, and considerably better than "pretty good," especially for a light duty vehicle. It's only 374lbs shy of the full size, body on frame, '23 F-150 (equiped w/ Ford's 2.7 Ecoboost, or 3.5L hybrid). That said, the SC bed's capacity of the 1411lb total, is just shy of 700lbs, which is still almost 200lbs more than a 1/4 ton. I'd bet most Santa Cruz owners will run out of space before they max out the load, unless they are towing (tongue weight should be deducted from total bed capacity). It's actually a stout platform to be unibody. Also, the host didn't mention the auto load leveling rear shocks that, in my experience, work very well, and are seamless in opperation.
1:41 “Now this engine is not available in the current generation Tucson but you can get it in the Santa Fe, not to be confused with the Santa Cruz.” Looks like your thumbnail is confused.
The fact this has tow hooks and a Tundra doesnt is crazy And faster than a Tacoma hybrid. Not as good offroad but hey if thats not your thing this actually dont seem like a bad option. If they redesign ridgeline to look like Passport that may be the one to get though.
For sure! The Hyundai Santana is known for being a reliable and affordable sedan. It's got a comfortable interior and decent fuel efficiency, making it a great choice for everyday driving. Plus, it usually comes with a good amount of tech features for the price.
I pre-ordered a '25 Maverick Lariat then I test drove a '25 Santa Cruz. Went with the new Santa Cruz SEL Activity. Has a lot of bells and whistles for the price point at around $35k. Great daily driver for my lifestyle living in a big city, I just wish it was faster. I don't think I'm missing out at all with the Maverick.
The Santa Cruz is useless if one needs to haul sheets of plywood or drywall, but if one just needs to carry some mulch or small furniture from time to time, it's a good option.
I have one of these. The tailgate has a mid point setting that makes the top level with the upper bed supports. Hauling 4x8 sheets isn't an issue. In fact, I just did that yesterday. The bigger issue is the roll up box for the tonneau cover, which greatly limits stack height.
was thinking about getting one in this trim but is this transmission the same dual clutch that was shuttering real bad and overheating in the KIA Seltos up until last year when they switched it to CVT? If so i may reconsider.
Without a question, the vehicle is quick, sporty looking and provides some luxury for its front seat occupants. However, if one plans to take two larger passengers in the back seat, on a long ride, it will be murderous. In addition, the synthetic oil change pricing, for that 2.5 turbo, that requires 0W-30 is steep.
The instrument cluster/infotainment screen being one long ultrawide screen tacked onto the dashboard is a trend among all automakers that needs to just go already. It looks so terrible.
I have one of these with the factory cover. The bed stays generally dry unless its a downpour, and the drains get overwhelmed. The trunk is watertight.
Single row with 6' bed under $20k then maybe we can talk. Otherwise I'd go for a Maverick, still would prefer a basic WT sub compact between a Kei and this size.
I got a 2022 sel premium cloth seats and the turbo for 34k. They axed the sel premium and now if you want the turbo it’s 40k kinda annoying manufactures keep doing this
It's like with the Maverick too, now the slow af hybrid powertrain is a several thousand dollar option on the XLT and Lariat. WTF are these manufacturers doing
I’ve been waiting for this for you! Also, by the way The engine is direct injection and multiport 😊 The XRT trim also has a better approach angle versus the trims. 19.9° on the XRT and 16.9° on the others. There is a 112v power outlet in the right cubby. There is also a button in the bed to turn on the LED lights. Older models you can only turn on the bed lights from the inside.
Unfortunately it suffers greatly in alot of key areas. The base engine is horrifically underpowered, the higher trims have the unreliable 2.5 engines and the god awful dual clutch that everyone hates but they refuse to stop using. Not to mention the top trims are 14k more than the base trim which just.. why?
@@naveenthemachineI have a 2016 pilot with the 9 speed and it’s very smooth and never had an issue. It’s honestly more responsive than the 10 speed on my accord and the odyssey I used to have.
Really considered one of these when they first came out. Quickly found that they only have very dark interiors AND that many operations to operate this 'truck' require using the center screen. Both of these a total turnoff. Your video shows us that they have made some interior improvements...adding buttons to push. Just what is your cup of tea ?
What I don't understand about these modern dashes/instrument clusters. So you don't want analog gauges. Okay. But why not? They work and have worked for many decades. But okay, you don't want analog. Check. So, then why have a digital screen...that looks like an analog display??????????????????? I would not like this interior because of the screens. Those numbers on the speedometer are tiny. Fine if you have good eyes. Not so much if you don't. It's just absurd that, with a screen like this, you can't customize the crap out of it to get a look that look good and/or works for you. smh
I find it difficult for me to call this a “truck” The term “crossover” seems to be more fitting to these unibody “trucks”that are popping up on all the dealers lots lately.
