Idk, but there’s barely any content being made for this game. There’s a few hundred people playing it. It’s dead on twitch. Perusing the few stormgate TH-cam options comment sections looks like there’s more people hate watching than enjoying the game. It really feels doa by all accounts. I don’t see the company making it to a 1.0 release which for someone like me who finds the game….ok, kinda sends the whole experience into a defeated spiraling loop. These kind of games require investment, do I want to invest my time into a dead project? Idk if I do, it’s fickle but that’s how the mind works I suppose.

don't invest your time in an unfinished product if you don't want to, the way they've gone about early access has been far from ideal but i really do think most interested people are just sitting back and waiting, i know i am, and you can too!

Great update, let's hope the improvements continue at this level. If the game released in early access in this state things would have been a lot different I think, but better late than never
Im gonna be honest with ya: not really. Unless you already enjoyed how the units felt and how the overall gameplay felt you will still be disappointed like me. My issues with the game are that the units are boring and unimaginative and the designs of the races are as well.
We'll see if these changes help a lot but I think there are some more fundamental problems with their unit balance. Dogs were clearly doing too much damage and they cut that but I think their real problem is that their HP is also far too high for their cost and that hasn't been changed. Exos and Hornets are still going to be problems. They made splitting Brutes better but the Brutes themselves still can't fill any role properly and need some drastic change. They took a step in the right direction with Argents but they're still a relatively tanky cheap fast long-ranged unit that does solid damage even when out of energy and hits air, they have no real weaknesses and the Kri still aren't much of an alternative or complement to them, I think Argents are still going to be spammed. I think they're actually close to working well, though, if they balanced them more around being amazing at everything when they have energy but terrible when they run out and this meant they had to be stuck to power banks like glue and massing too many of them would overload your energy generation capacity, that'd be asymmetric and novel and it'd limit their spammability and make them compete against casters for energy later in the game. Giving them fast out-of-combat energy regeneration independent of the cascade field or base power level kind of ruins that though.

Froast Giant should have some Artosis and Tasteless and other SC2 people as Consultants/ambassadors. That is your only chance. The fact that you didn't have any major names endorsing and consultant the build of this game makes no sense at all.

im glad to see the game improving. I really want this to be the next big thing in the rts world. still it's a high bar when I tried it, it didn't feel like the next gen. ill try again on release for me the snappiness and the pathing need to be better than sc2. if I don't enjoy the moment to moment more than what's already out, why play
Armies of Exigo was a game released 20 years ago, at the time it wasn't received well because they said it was to similiar too Starcraft 1, a tired formula that was passé. Meanwhile we have Age of Empires:DE, just an iteration on Age of Empires 2 with better graphics, modernized control, pathfinding and faction traits that make sense and work inside a larger E-sport centric eco-system. It is just a quarter of a century worth of improvements baked into a game. Stormgate is depressingly bad, it is a lesser hybrid version of Warcraft 3 and Starcraft 2 and to succeed in this space you need.
From a beginner prospective ,this game is currently not begginer friendly at all ,seems it's catered for players with actual experience with rts and not new players wanting to try rts
In 1 month... I feel like nothing much changed... I know I get hate for this but... Game is not ready, it's still unbaked cake, everything will take a LOT time to fix but this update gave us as I feel it, only few graphics few better ways And Amara changed but nothing other changed :(
Graphics weren't much a problem. No RTS with prosper if it has too much dust or long lasting explosion animations. People want to see what is going on and take control. If we want eye candies we will go and watch movies or just in game cinematics on youtube. The 12 units at start are too much for new players. Do they need to build 6 buildings and keep 6 on the mine or ??? Too many variability, too much micro requirement for startup. It's like telling players go pro or go home. Having one side with unit ranks (gain xp) while others not, is very hard to balance, not to mention the ones without ranks always feel like they are having a handicap. The demons need better art direction and more diversity (most of them feel like a variety of the imp), the celestials feel half done, only the vanguard feel fully done. What is a spell, what an ability? What is dispellable, do all factions have a fair access to dispell/spell/ability? I love that they keep imroving, so I hope they will continue to listen to feedback, this game still has a great potential, they should keep it open for modding, at least add that option later if not imediatelly.
This era of gaming is ridiculous. I am not coming back from patch to patch to see if they have miraculously revived their game. Produce something worth playing, finish it THEN sell it. Imagine Baldur's Gate 3 if they dropped their first playable build 3 years in rather then going through the whole 6 years of development. diffrent issues for diffrent games, bg3 was high quality and performance from first public session, just buggy and incomplete. So people saw that and liked it enough to stick around obviously. SG is.. not comparable. None cares. It needs a full marketing campaign all over again. So I agree with OP
barely any new content, yea there is a new coop hero but he's only playable up to lv5. you need the ultimate season pack or something like that to fully level him up. there is also some new graphical upgrades that i really like like amara for example. her new model design is WAY, WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY much more better than her previous look. the lighting also is very good, sadly there is only so much work to be done for this game. im going to wait until this game is more bloated with content, the campaign is more better, and more graphical upgrades are made to the game.
when you kill kri they need to die die, like disappear and not block your path, i cant describe how frustrating it is to have a kri accidentally block your path and it gets worst by the games mediocre pathing. other than that im happy they slowly going the right direction

The game looks a lot better. However, the Hero still looks crap. I think they should scrap the entire hero-thing if this is the best they come up with and focus on 1v1. as much as I love multiplayer and hero types, I would do a huge refund for those that bought it. The story has no base, it was created RTS first, story later.

The copium about the "'Mara" redesign really makes me laugh. You replaced a 1/10 character with a 5/10 character, that also looks like a Fortnite / Overwatch character, when the real issue from the start was that she was not original or likeable in any way. They just copied Sc2, and I assume also Warcraft (but I've never played any of those game so idk). Like, the story writers tried to make everything as stereotypical and unoriginal as possible. Why not try something new? Why not try to do an inverse of the Kerrigan arc? It's just so tiring.
The Celestial's design is awful. That race needs to be 100% deleted and try again. So bad. FG do better. You have 20+ Million dollars and this is what you give us?
This patch shows this is not the case at all. It isn't even nearly too late for them to make a comeback. Also note, they've removed some of the ways they were gonna make money, like delaying campaign chapters to polish up the experience more, and removing warchest from the roadmap entirely. This means they're probably doing ok on funding.

@@Richard-ln6ot Welcome changes right, but if we're being honest here, overall the gameplay is still pretty bad like he said The TTK is still too high, especially with lower resource gathering (+4 luminite), and doubled cost of early game units. Even Warcraft 3 has +10 gold with higher TTK And like Day9 said, the unit gameplay doesn't have exciting "spiky" moments that you'll even see in high TTK games like Warcraft 3. We still have units like the atlas that are genuinely very unfun to play The sound design is still very bad, the campaign is still abysmal, UI / tooltips are still bad, and the models are still uninspired (except for amara and maloc) With that said the terrain in this map is beautiful, but I don't see this game being fun to play for a few more updates.

sometimes you just need feedback. They were trying mobile/fortnite-ish style because it's "popular". Now they have some actual feedback and they are ready to change their artdirection, which is very promising. The visuals went from comically unacceptable to okay. However since this is on Unreal Engine, it has forced TAA which is essentially a blur filter.
You can turn AA off completely.

BG3 did have early access? Supposedly it had a lot of bugs, though the reception overall was pretty positive.
Baldur's Gate 3 did exactly that, they released a buggy early access, then made the game good. What a terrible example to use, lmao.

I think they should scrap the entire hero-thing if this is the best they come up with and focus on 1v1. as much as I love multiplayer and hero types, I would do a huge refund for those that bought it. The story has no base, it was created RTS first, story later.

Saw, updates and went to check it out, sat in queue for five minutes. So basically dead game, which is sad, but it is deserved. The developers ignored initial feedback and told everyone they were wrong and only admitted that the consumers were right after they stopped showing up.

A crowed of unartistic admirers flock around the painting. A short while into their work, you (who knows almost nothing of the process painting), tell the artist that their painting is a complete disaster. You are enraged that you payed good money for such a terrible painting. The crowed start to scoff at the painting and throw very disrespectful comments at the artist. The artist assures everyone that the painting is unfinished. But the doubtful crowed doesn’t listen. The artist finishes the first sketch, and picks a smaller paintbrush. They start to add texture and shading, and the crowed is suddenly surprised by how good it looks 🤦♂️

The copium about the "'Mara" redesign really makes me laugh. You replaced a 1/10 character with a 5/10 character, that also looks like a Fortnite / Overwatch character, when the real issue from the start was that she was not original or likeable in any way. They just copied Sc2, and I assume also Warcraft (but I've never played any of those game so idk). Like, the story writers tried to make everything as stereotypical and unoriginal as possible. Why not try something new? Why not try to do an inverse of the Kerrigan arc? It's just so tiring.

This patch shows this is not the case at all. It isn't even nearly too late for them to make a comeback. Also note, they've removed some of the ways they were gonna make money, like delaying campaign chapters to polish up the experience more, and removing warchest from the roadmap entirely. This means they're probably doing ok on funding.

The TTK is still too high, especially with lower resource gathering (+4 luminite), and doubled cost of early game units. Even Warcraft 3 has +10 gold with higher TTK
And like Day9 said, the unit gameplay doesn't have exciting "spiky" moments that you'll even see in high TTK games like Warcraft 3. We still have units like the atlas that are genuinely very unfun to play
The sound design is still very bad, the campaign is still abysmal, UI / tooltips are still bad, and the models are still uninspired (except for amara and maloc)
With that said the terrain in this map is beautiful, but I don't see this game being fun to play for a few more updates.

AoM. being invested into a game is very important especially if you need to spent a lot of time learn it but with what they are showing nah dude lets be real here they cant keep paying steam just to run this game on steam servers with how little the player base they will be bankrupt before this game see a full release.

Now they have some actual feedback and they are ready to change their artdirection, which is very promising.
