My rottweiler and doberman are both guard dogs and wear 2 chains like this one around their necks and prong collars and they are chained

Those collars are not tie out collars. Of course, they're going to break and using a chain around their neck while they're tied out is not good either. It's not good for their necks

Do you think there was a threat so great that Mickey's adrenalin shot thru the roof and he chased something away...protecting the gang? : )

Heavy duty Nylon collars with traditional metal buckles are much stronger than that poorly designed vanity collar, & have never failed me with my big, strong dogs (PBs). Stainless clips last (aliexpress), while the spring on that bullclip rusted & broke on me within 2 yrs.

A bull snap such as the one shown is notorious for rusting and failing. There are much better snaps and more reliable snaps which could be used. 😀

I just buy chain from home depot then clip off the extra links and connect them with screw links.

I have had them all on the chain collars for 3 years without an issue. I reccomend having the chain loose enough to put 4 fingers through and use 2 of the threaded links in line. Then when you hook a leash or chain to one of the threaded links it will pull the two tight making the chain a bit tighter where they can't ever get out.
