Good job little one, I myself was going to purchase one but hesitated because they are upward around 1000 bucks. This is a good alternative just to see if I can get the puppers to go for it lol .
Totally really helpful great 👍 job and thanks for your video with the complete instructions 😊 we all need to see videos like this full esplanade on DIY thanks 🙏
I know it's a bit late but I think I see why it's not working right. The harness support is too high for your dog. We have to remember Newton's third law of motion. The action force extruded by the dog is causing a reaction force of roughly 80% up and 20% back (not actual calculations, just my best guess). Lowering the bar by a foot or so should help flip those numbers. I'm guessing your setup works just fine otherwise! :) Hope that helps! By the way, that is one adorable puppy!
I hope he got the hang of it. If not I hope you at least enjoyed the project, looked fun. Your voice reminds me of the woman that narrates Max and Ruby. Lol 👍
Good work! I'm about to build one. What I think the issue with yours was the carpet was dragging on the floor, the rollers weren't centered and I think Obie needs sides so that he can only move forward but if he's tied off it'll only move the carpet and he won't be able to jump off. Hope to see an update how Obie likes it now.
Thank you for your video. I want to make myself a tread mill with no motor. However, it's to many parts, so I am going to try to make me a dog treadmill, which takes less material. I don't want it to run a marathon just for walking. I will build it with measurements that would be for a human. Thanks again for your video.
I’ve actually build a carpet mill and the right type of carpet to use is stairs carpet or runner carpet the type they sell at Home Depot and then add caulking on the entire carpet so it last longer .
@@rosemaryball7560 you use a caulking gun and spread it on the carpet with a piece of wood and press it into the carpet then let it dry for 24 hours. After a while it falls off but it makes the carpet last longer.
my dog is just very reactive to other dogs and people so I really cant take him outside, I want to make one of these so he can still get exercise indoors where hes not barking at people or other dogs
It sounds like there's just way too much friction on the "whiteboard." I'm going to be making one of these to save me $900 with a Dog Trotter, but I'm going to use wood, and then put pvc pool liner on top, hopefully make the deck have less friction and kind of "skate" across it.
@@abbyb485 I used PVC pool liner, I got it from some scraps at a local pool installation business. Not sure where you can get it, maybe at Lowes? Or something like that. It comes in a roll.
I’m conflicted on either trying to build this or just spend the $500 to buy one. Either way my dogs energy never wears out and yes my yard looks like that. As do my floors 🥲
Great question. Absolutely! You just scale down your build. Start by measuring the length of your pup, then go from there. Maybe add some oil between your board and carpet to allow for easier sliding with less force. Good luck!
The tension of the carpet should alone hold the dogs weight up, not the board between the rollers. The dog should not easily be able to stand on the mill without it rolling
There are some dogs (high drive working breeds) you just can't walk or run enough and some places that the weather won't let you. My GSD and Mal never stop, even with backpacks.
A great way to spend a hundred bucks and a lot of time on a piece of very, very useful nothing-crap. You'd better start with the study of physics and technology. And may be you will know about something like bearings and friction and materials robustness.
Without imaginative thinking, basic engineering, understanding the three basic physic machines, we would be living in an open area, no homes, no fire, no food and no ability to learn, adapt or overcome anything. Praise those that do something and share about it through their experiences because it gives you the ability to complain about it. What have to go to bring to the table other than an emotional response driven comment?

6:44 where the copper goes through the posts for the rollers, what holds the rollers to the posts

Thanks for showing the whole process! It helps a lot with thinking about how exactly I want mine to go together.
Nice SMN plug @ 14:00 haha
Very good video. I have most of the materials to make one and our Golden Doodle will love this, very high energy!

That's a great point! Hadn't considered it
Oh man, I have a pup who would go nuts for this!
7:29 what's holding that roller in place the copper only goes through the posts
The nail through the copper acts as the mount and the roller , pretty clever , because I was wondering the same
Great Job. Thanks for sharing
6:18? Do I put holes in the wood inside the PVC?to hold the rollers I don't understand that
Just through the frame 2x4 and a long nail that's into the pvc center wood
7:38 so u just hammer the copper posts into the wood inside the roller right

LOLOLOLOLOL Are you serious you measured all the way around that pipe with a tape measure. Thats hilarious I Love It.

Do the pvc pipes spin too? What are the copper pipes for; I could not see. Thx!
👋Same question here ? Hope she replies have ah nice day
Hey there, the pvc pipes do rotate with the carpet. The nails rotate inside the copper tubing.

Was he able to use it ? How did it go?
6:52 I need more explanation on this and how the rollers hold
excelent!! is a good example for my project.. thank you.
OMG. Benny looks like a liter mate to my Penny.
Hi, would you happen to have a blueprint for making this?
I’ve actually build a carpet mill and the right type of carpet to use is stairs carpet or runner carpet the type they sell at Home Depot and then add caulking on the entire carpet so it last longer .
How do you add the caulking?
@@rosemaryball7560 you use a caulking gun and spread it on the carpet with a piece of wood and press it into the carpet then let it dry for 24 hours. After a while it falls off but it makes the carpet last longer.
I think I'll add some texture on the carpet, like some stipes so carpet won't be so slippery. Good job!
What do you hold the rollers in place with I don't understand that.
I think you did a great job. Did the dog ever learn to like it?
They make an iron on carpet seam tape that you put on underneath. What do the job you were trying to accomplish perfectly.
That Forman comment ❤😅
Truly amazin!!!!
What did you put in the copper tube ?!
Very kewl!
As I watch this video, my dog who just spent 2 hours at the beach is begging me to play
Great job!
Keep the treats low when introducing new dogs 😉

@@abbyb485 it did. It worked excellent! But then I sold the whole rig, I'm going to make another one.

Would this work for small dogs

Original build idea by Molan Labe 12 years ago.
I'm gonna try this with some strong glue instead of stitching the carpet.
Silicone lubricant spray would make the carpet slide better without making things greasy
Todavía no entiendo cómo lo haces girar 😭
The landscape timbers are a lot of extra weight and are out of balance. Why not just use schedule 40 PVC caps??????
And a long rod through the center, and bronze bushings instead of copper, which will wear out in no time
😂😂😂😂😂😂
Just buy a used tread meal and slightly mid it i did and my dog lives it
Does the mat for the tread mill tear up their feet? I have two 70lbs American bullies that need this
some more news in the background lol, hell yeah
In my city if you get caught with one of this you guilty of training digs for fighting

I need to give you probz on that the best DYS dog - treadmill video on TH-cam is made by a woman 👩🏻 😅🎉 probz
Turn the carpet over.
