- Hiya guys and welcome back to the channel! Today it's time for something a little bit different. My mate Adam invited me along to join him for a day at The Motorist for the first ever Ford Focus MK1 Preservation Club Meet Up. Any and every specification of MK1 Focus was welcome and a total of 18 cars came together, travelling from all over the Country and Europe (No that's not a joke!) to celebrate a future classic that not everyone has started to appreciate. Absolutely brilliant day, thanks so much for making me feel so welcome even though I don't own a Focus. Thanks Helen, it's always lovely to hear that you look forward to future videos. 😊 I know The Cruel Room is the staple but I never take for granted that people will just watch it because they have watched others. ❤️ Sadly we know the race didn't go the way we wanted it to, I will tell you that of course Alex is safe as that wasn't his fault, I won't keep you hanging on and worrying about that, I will mention the positive news of the contract extention to help lighten the mood. 😊❤️

@@TheMoaningYorkshireman Not sure about you, but I think points positions should go back down to 8 rather then 10, because there are less cars on the grid.
@@warwickbull5559 I very much agree with you on that. The 10 place points were brought in because of the 24 cars on the grid in 2010 and never reverted back.

Oh they are! 🤣 To be fair when his Sister's car broke it came in handy as a replacement while hers was being fixed so it proves it's needed. 🤷😅

MK1 Focus meet up, wow I can remember working on 2 red ones at one of my colleges on how to fix cars, one was petrol and the other was diesel, it is strange to see a car that was so common in the late 90s and early mid 00's, I think both the MK1 and Mk2 are the better generations of Ford Focus, what do you think Josh?
I agree with you bud, MK1 and MK2 are probably the best Focus but even then the newer ones were still decent for a number of years too. Awesome that you have memories of the MK1 Focus. 😊
@@TheMoaningYorkshireman I mean my family owned one growing up, I know Adam's family had one when was growing up, my personal favorite Ford Focus is the MK2 RS, in green with black spoiler, with the inline 5 engine derived from Volvo, man that car was a beast, speaking of Volvo, that's what I had with family growing up, 2 Volvo s40s Frist generation first one in black and second one in blue and the estate version of the same model which was called the V40 in green.🙂
@@warwickbull5559 Yeah I like the MK2 RS as well, that's a great choice. 😊 That's cool you've had a Volvo in the family, something none of my family have ever owned and to be honest I don't think I've ever sat in one as daft as that sounds, of any kind. I do appreciate Volvo's though, built very strong and built to last. 😊💪
@@TheMoaningYorkshireman When my family and I lived in Germany when my dad was in the RAF, we had 3 Volvos during our time there, 2 S40s and one V40 estate, the first one we had was black one that was German registered and was of course in left-hand drive, the second one was blue with a spoiler and right hand drive UK registered, we only had them for a about a 6 months in between, because when you use to serve in the armed forces aboard, you would get new cars tax free!! While the last we bought was the green V40 estate UK reg again and right hand drive, that was one we took back to the UK after the RAF left Germany in 2001, I have funny story about Volvo V40, because we took it down to the Nürburgring, we went to the museum and after that of course, we went on the Nürburgring Nordschleife itself, so you imagine a younger me being very excited to round a real race, we we're lined up alongside a new Porsche 9/11 at the time, so it would have been the 996 generation and it sped up into the distance, but a few corners later, it had broken down, so we overtook it in our Volvo estate!!
That's so cool, I love Volvo's, they're built like tanks and made to last. 😊 Apologies for late reply bud, TH-cam is doing that thing again of notifying me of 'new' comments that were actually made ages ago and I've never seen them before until now. So frustrating but there we go, playing catch up now. 👍

@@willf1sv5 It was close this race again though wasn't it. Tow from Hulkenberg in Qualifying helped him to get pole and then the race itself, Red Bull stronger on the mediums initially but then on the hards Lando was reeling him in. We're on for a cracking season now I reckon, we already know Max is champion and that's fine and most likely he'll come out on top in the races where he's challenged but the fact is, there's a challenge there now and he can't win them all. 👍
@@TheMoaningYorkshireman Monaco is going to be an interesting one I think. It was arguably Red Bull's 2nd weakest track of 2023 but Max did such a great job to win that race especially with his Pole Lap. Had Alonso been on Pole I maintain the fact he would've won that race. Max would've been in a completely different position if not on Pole.
Leclerc will probably do another great lap in qualifying but we all know what happens in the race...
According to data Leclerc would've took Pole in 2022 by like 6 tenths if not that red flag. That lap he was on at that point was on course to beat their simulations.
@@willf1sv5 All comes down to the Saturday again doesnt it. Most exciting Saturday in F1 and I will always maintain Monaco should stay on the calendar for that reason alone.
I say Ferrari driver lineup for 2025 is overrated as heck I haven't forgived Leclerc for beating Sebastian Vettel and I don't think Hamilton is as good as Vettel and Raikkonen so yeah this is going to be a huge problem for me next year.
But if both Ferrari driver was the only contention for the 2026 title maybe I support Lewis Hamilton I guess.
It was Leclerc's fault that he beat Vettel in 2020. That was just how it was, that's racing. I'm not sure what to make of Hamilton at the moment, I was filled with excitement when the news broke but now I'm seeing how he is this season and he doesn't do much at all.

Controversial opinion I don't like and I don't have a favorite in today's grid.
Normally I would be happy that Lewis Hamilton sign for Ferrari to have another championship for him however the fact that George Russell is currently beating me this is why I am frustrated and mad and view him overrated right now becuase had he been beating George Russell this year he would be my favorite driver on current grid.
Esteban Ocon has a attitude problem which is why I don't like him.
Fernando Alonso yeah this last 2 races made me frustrated with him and Australia as well given how good he was last year I thought he would completely destroying Stroll this year but no he had 3 poor weekends Australia, Miami and Imola.
I like Pierre Gasly but it is frustrating he is getting beaten by Ocon.
Uhm Nico Hulkenberg uhm he is supposed to be my favorite f1 driver currently however there is one thing I fell from graced from him this season as he signed with Audi I do feel he is a glory hunter as he only signed in Audi so he can say to us that he is the best f1 sauber driver since 2013. So yeah I lost a lot of respect from Hulkenberg.
Max Vestappen I still feel.he is overrated.
Lando Norris same thing
Oscar Piastri based on points he is so far behind Lando Norris such frustrating.
George Russell hell no he has attitude problems
Lance Stroll hell no he has attitude problems too
Carlos Sainz he did start the season well but recently getting beaten by Charles Leclerc.
Charles Leclerc overrated AF.
Bottas and Zhou I am not interested anymore especially Bottas.
Logan Sargeant not good enough in f1.
Kevin Magnussen well he is a dirty driver no way he is my favorite.
And last Alex Albon he just haven't had a good year this year.
Yeah I don't have a favorite and liked any driver on this current grid maybe Vettel and Raikkonen had they stayed.
I don't have favourites either buddy, I used to love Force India but sadly when they were bought out by Daddy Stroll my passion for the sport and loyally following a driver or team died with it.
