- I'm back with another large family meals on vacation video for you today. Only in this large family meals on vacation vlog, momma here ends up not wanting to cook - LOL 😆 ! I started with the best intentions. Then that taco salad extravaganza for 14 lasted for a few days (we didn't mind). A few extra long days at the beach, and yeah I just enjoyed only kinda cooking most days.
These large family meals on vacation consisted of eggs/fruit, oatmeal/fruit, or cereal/fruit for large family breakfast ideas. We had those famous taco salads for several dinners and lunches (hello 👋 10 lbs of ground beef, plus beans and spices). We also had baked chicken, watermelon, mac and cheese. I did NOT get the pork cooked but had someone to pass it on to in the area - friends share pork, right? We ate several meals out on this large family vacation including Captain Georges, Cici's Pizza, and ordering pizza from the local Island Pizza place. Large family lunches were local taco salad leftovers at first, heavy Sharp Shopper snacks, fruit, turkey/cheese sandwiches, and even Italian Ice and an ice cream party 🎉 .

I love how you include extended family members in your vacations. I see it as sharing the rewards of all the hard work you do. I'm so glad that you relaxed, ensuring people ate but keeping it simple. Those afternoon naps are important!
Our beginning of the year was a doozy too. My daughter fought cancer up until March, from last year. Stupid Covid and Cancer! YET, yes yet we’ve seen God’s hand through it all. I can’t complain! I’m glad I get to watch your videos again. You inspire me to stay strong, keep helping my family, feed them well and REST. Love you all! God bless as always!❤️🙏🏼

The truth is, when you have kids, snacking on whatever just seems to make them hungrier! I am always glad I push myself to go ahead and make dinner even if it seems not many are hungry. Leftovers are never a bad thing!

Just got back from Sharp Shopper. Thanks for the tip on the applesauce, I bought 6 cases! My kid eats them a few packs at a time, so hoping this lasts a couple months or so. I think this is the most I've spent there and they were having their customer appreciation stuff, so we got a hot dog, chips, and drink for 50 cents! Kiddo had 2 and still cheeper than a McDonald's Happy Meal!
What a vacation! Wonderful! Being in natural and around animals and water…nothing better! Meals were great! Pizza, watermelon, Italian ice, snacks, sandwiches, ice cream…absolutely wonderful! Your children will never forget these special experiences. Good health and happiness to you and yours!

I love a good beach vacation. I just got back from mine and I did minimal cooking as well. I needed a rest because well, as you know, momma’s need some rest too. The beach fills my soul to get me through all the care I have to give to my mum and my daughter. 💕
Ever since becoming mom I now realize how difficult it is to feed everyone 3 meals a day 365 days a year for the next 25 years 😭.
I'm soon to b 54 on da 12th. I've been cooking what seems like ALWAYS
25yrs I don't think so hahaha

And that it's the most important job! I was surprised too.
I am so lazy but I love to eat, therefore I love to cook…but I have adopted the theory “ Cook once , eat for (4) days, lol. I will cook 3 dinners in 1 night, I remember when leftovers were dreaded but now we call it meal prepping and it’s wonderful. What doesn’t get eaten in 3 to 4 days gets vacuum packed and frozen for a “fast food” meal.
I spent many of my summers growing up in Virginia Beach. My maternal grandparents lived right near the Chesapeake Bay Bridge tunnel, my paternal grandparents lived in Norfolk, and my Aunt and Uncle (and cousins) lived in Virginia Beach 😍 my uncle owned his own men’s clothing store in the area. I have very fond memories of them and being there. Thank you for sharing your vacation with us.

We’ve been to that aquarium several times. 😉 It’s a fun outing for sure. Bergey’s Breadbasket has a crop maze, farm animals, and delicious pumpkin ice cream. Glad you guys are getting to enjoy some family vacation time.

I do the same thing with hamburger! I buy a huge thing and cook it all at once… then we have meat that night for tacos… the next night for spaghetti or samosas… and the leftovers for crockpot hamburger soup or enchiladas! So much easier and cooked hamburger freezes great, especially seasoned and with onions! Yay for efficiency!
I do chicken breast to. I'll grill and dice it then put in soups, alfrado, chicken salad and wraps. Until its all gone. Lol
Thank you so much for taking us with you on vacation. It is fun seeing the museum exhibits. I loved the walk along the ocean. I miss it so much. Your experiences help those of us who have grown children and are now unable to travel.

watching your video actually brings back childhood memories for me... My grandfather worked at the James River Paper Mill back in the 70's... actually he worked there for over 25 years... but seeing you at some of the same areas we have been... such as the tunnel... ohhh how i loved driving in the tunnel... left in 1979 miss it greatly... thank you for the memories!!
My husband was stationed at the Navy base there, and you visited all our old favorites. This was a nice reminder that while my three older children have been to those places lots of times, might need to make a trip to take the three younger kids. You make vacations with lots of kids look possible, and even enjoyable!

What a wonderful time. All of it. A very good school field trip as well. And the truth of life whoever invented any food in an order anyway. I grew up around Farmers that eat their huge dinner at lunch so they can work hard in the fields rest of the day and for supper its basically lunch or a breakfast so they can get a good sleep without overloaded tummies. Then a light breakfast that could even be a sandwich to give them early energy for morning chores until their big dinner lunch :) So glad you took time out!!! And thank you for sharing the walk on the beach. I miss walking on the beach. hugs

Vacations are for winging it as far as food is concerned when you have a lot of mouths to feed. When I use to take my girls vacation, we would just eat breakfast & lunch in our condo or beach. Then we would go out in the evening for someone else to cook for us. Sometimes after spending all day at the beach, we are too tired to go out and eat...so bring on the pizza! That's thing about bring on vacation, just relax and go where the flow takes you.

The Cici's Pizza near work has been permanently closed due to COVID. I'm so disappointed! It was one of our favorite lunch spots! So tasty, especially the desserts!

I’ve been to Nauticus! We have so much to do in VA! ❤️ My favorite part was the kitchen & how that all works when at sea. When I was there, a fellow who was actually on the ship the last time it sailed was there & told me some of the stories about how they got food & fuel replenished while out at sea for long stretches of time, as well as some other things about his time on the ship. Very interesting! My family needs to aquarium soon 🐟🐠
I always like to ask this… if you could do the vacation over what would you do different as far as meal planning? For some reason I was expecting to see a lot of pre-made sandwiches for on the go or for last minute kid meals. I still love your little hack of making a bunch of them and putting them back in the bread bag.
We did premade sandwiches. I just didn’t get footage of that. Got all I could, LOL 😆
