  • This is my review of the Mazda3 GT Sport MHEV 2021, in Soul Red Crystal. Starting at £22,455 for the base model SE-L, and the model shown which starts at under £28k. Is the Mazda3 a car you should consider buying? Just look at it. Yes, it is.

    Had mine 10 months……love the way it drives! You can tell by the smiles further on in the review. This car grows on you, don’t be put off in the first 5 mins. Gearbox is slick the ride comfort and the build quality excellent. So many cars have plastic interiors and becoming the norm. Mazda has cloth and leather/ soft touch on the doors. This isn’t a VW group car that dangles plastics like a carrot and thinks its OK!

    I have Skyactive G which is less than X but man if you complain about engine power then either you are coming from something much much more sporty or from turbo engines. I will tell you how G work for common commuter.
    1.Blind spots/ C pillar
    Dont worry about C pillar and blind spots, I have the car and if you know how to use mirrors the car in other lane is either visibile in the mirror on in your side perriferials when you turn your head arround. I Drive UK roads and unless in some parts of the word lanes are wider, longer or any other possible options then you will not even need the blind spot sensors. In Uk you don't need them unless You are bad driver.
    2. Power.
    Even with the Skyactive G if you geting to 70mph road (UK max speed) , at least in UK, you get a bit of your lane to do that (slip road). Trust me if i say that from let say 25mph to 70mph it is just one 3rd gear which will take you there, don't worry about changing gears or the noice or revs, it is none turbo engine you just press and go and I have never ever encountered situation when I got to the end of the slip roadand not having that 70mph speed to get me in the trafic easly. Still if you have time and space you can do some gear chaging and be fuel efficient. There is a bit that if you are on 6th gear on let say 60mph and you wana go to 70 then yea car bearly accelerate and that is probably down to none turbo idea. Well you get for the price unmatching designe and interior quality so learn how to down shift to 4 with rev match and two thing will happen. 1st - you will feel like a boss doing it and 2nd - you will not feel lack of power in you G version and with X probably you will be the king (statemet based on g version havinng 122 hp instead of of 150hp avaiable in some countrie while x is like 180 up hp)
    3. The look (outside) - f.... aston marting DB 9 or Vintage kind of look for much less. Not saing it match the visuals exaclty, I am just saying that for the price you pay you will not get so close to those amazingly looking cars with andything else but Mazda 3.
    4. Interion - again what you get for what you pay is unmatch. I can tell you that i can see a trade offs like very very badly executed shades (sun glasses)holder in the roof which compare to 2015 ford focus is like a chip chip knock off of a shades holder. There is aircon issue of not being amazing (compare to same focus i mention and had for years) beacue of little ventilators holes being quite narrow - bit of a stunning dash board designe (in my opinion homage to old school cars) playing part in this air cone issue - still you go full cold you get the temp down to where you need it (tested in 30c temps) .
    IF you have any other question ask cuz I am happy mazda 3 hatch owner and I went through all the worries that reviewrs mention before buying it and half of them are shi.. nonsens and the issues I have have not been mentioned at all

    Nice review mate. I do like the look of these from the front, not so keen on the rear and the rear quarters limit the view a bit. Good job pal

      3 Saloon?

  • @tcimen1

    Beware that compared to the previous gen Mazda 3, this new one has much stiffer suspensions. Not comfortable in general UK roads as it used to be, especially if you do long distances. This can be due to the rear torsion beam (moved away from multilink) as well or overall tuning. They might soften it a bit in the next facelift. Do a long day test drive before you buy it.

    I'm in the market for a car in this segment and I'm pretty sure this one is my top choice. I agree about the appalling over the shoulder visibility, but it has a full suite of electronic aids to help overcome this, so it's something I can live with. I also agree about the looks both exterior and interior - this is a car you really want to like. I think you gave a good flavour of what it's like, and it's good in this electronic age to have a car whose mechanical attributes and the way it's set up make it a genuine pleasure to drive.

      Consider the Mazda 3 saloon? Removes the c pillar problem, looks sleeker (subjective) and massive boot

    This colour is actually a decent colour and looks great on this model. Makes a difference to the same red for all Mazda's, but yeah I know what you mean about that red 😄

    Got myself a Carbon edition of this! Been used manual stick vehicles my whole life and now it was time to get a good looking automatic.

      Are you happy with the automatic?

    • @brianwymer7812
      @brianwymer7812 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@isolatorhk personally I live in an area that is congested with traffic and yes I've been extremely happy with it (especially the auto hold brake feature) I've had it for about 5 months now and its been great for me. but if I lived in an open road area, I would've preferred the manual

    • @isolatorhk
      @isolatorhk 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@brianwymer7812 I see. I also live in a congested area. I also have only been driving manual so far. I tried to test drive an automatic (VW Golf). It couldn't meet my expectations - when I floor it I expect it to go, but there is too much delay. With manual, it's me switching to the first gear and releasing the clutch, even if the resultant acceleration is the same, it matches my expectations because it's all my input.
      I'm currently driving a gen3 mazda3 manual, and I'm going to test drive a gen4 mazda3 automatic soon. I hope Mazda did the automatic different that it'll match my expectations.

      with blind spot indicators as standard and the rear camera (+360 camera on GT Sport) its really not that big an issue, just takes a little getting used to. Then again im coming from driving a mk2.5 MX-5 so im used to the over the shoulder blind spot from the soft top

    Car looks are so subjective, the exterior looks so dull and bland, especially around the rear 3/4. The interior looks better. I just saw the same comment from Verbingdungs😀
