    One of the reasons, why the sweaters were most likely so pricey: These are not prints. The pattern is clearly knitted. And this is always far more expensive than if it's only printed.
    Also a small tip, so they stay in shape as long as possible: Don't dry them hanging, but lying. Cotton has almost no give and when knitted tends to go baggy easily.

    I have set myself a rule: The price/ or sale price of an item will not decide if I keep it or even worse sway me from my first impression of the item. If I put something on an feel like I‘m wearing my grandmother‘s couch, it’s a no. The sudden rush of BUT IT WAS +230$ and now it‘s only $70 will soon be gone. Then you are left with „well this looks like my grandmothers couch.“ That’s why I rarely shop at outlets since it just tries to play into your psyche/ emotions

    • @daphne8406
      @daphne8406 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Agree, I follow a similar rule during major sale «Do I actually like it? Or do I just like the price?» 😝

    • @MagicSillia
      @MagicSillia 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Yep, I have a rule of not buying clothing unless I will actually wear it. To add on I don't buy skirts or shirts unless I have an outfit in mind for that piece, either pairing it with something at home or already knowing what to buy to pair it with.
      Taking into account the cut of a piece and especially the material makes things much easier, since I have sensory issues I have to be very particular about how the material feels and that definitely changes my mindset real quick.

    Spending 400$ on sunglasses is bad enough, but them being 700$ originally is insane! Ive never understood sunglasses of all things costing so much! • @SeabassFishbrains

      One word: Luxotica. They have an insane monopoly on the entire glasses industry which has allowed them to inflate the costs of glasses (both sunglasses and prescription glasses) that cost mere cents in materials to hundreds of dollars at retail.

    • @katharinafeustel5864
      @katharinafeustel5864 2 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      I get it on one hand but on the other hand I see why some brands might opt for it. I myself cannot wear wool for the life of me (no matter the quality I get red red rashes). So only cotton, linen or those “lovely” plastic fibers lice acrylic or polyester are and option for me.
      But ofc it’s best for the environment to use biodegradable natural fibers..

OH the ending with "What she kept." was so nice! Also hearing about how the Iconic deals with returns was ok, like most of the stuff was returned no problem and so that is good. 11:30 clothing that opens up all the way like that are great for accessibility. Some folks have a very difficult time putting on dresses and other clothes due to disabilities. I used to be a DSS and an HHA. I had several clients who used clothes that either were made to open all the way up or some even had to cut their clothes up the back.

    • @DieAlteistwiederda
      @DieAlteistwiederda 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      I agree, clothing like that is incredibly helpful both for dressing yourself if you are disabled but also to dress other who can't do it themselves.
      Even if you look at able bodied people, I'm disabled but don't really need accessible clothing, I have very extreme proportions so depending on the fabric pulling stuff over my shoulders can be just as impossible as pulling something over my hips. Fake buttons don't make it easier for me to get the clothes on at all.

      When my husband and I were caring for his mom, she was completely bed-bound, and I found her some shirts that had a yoke on the back. The back yoke gave a nice stable place to stop when I sliced it up the back for her to wear in bed, plus it also helped keep her shoulders covered exactly as much as she wanted.

    quick tip about clothing:
    if the design is added after wards with dye or paint, then it is called a "print"
    is the design is sewn or weaved into the fabric at any point in the process, then it is called a "pattern"
    .
    It just really bugged me when alex called the clearly woven in patterns of the sweaters "prints" when prints are specifically designs made on the surface of garments using processes like screen printing and vinyl stickers. just felt wrong.

You're a delight to watch and you radiate a lot of positivity and honesty! :D Lighting can be so deceiving when you're looking at items online. It's so hard to tell if it'll actually be that exact shade until it actually arrives. The amount of times I've gotten things online and then when they came, the shade was more different to what I expected... it's maddening! I used to mainly wear black and a few darkish shades of colour, but am more into pastels the older I get and it's hard to find pastel stuff online without it looking a different shade, due to how pastels particularly catch light differently to darker or brighter shades of colour.

    Branding making clothes expensive is so weird. 400+ $\€ is what I usually pay for my normal glasses, with my bad eyes and from a mid price glasses/lenses place. These sunglasses were kind of cute though, ngl.
    Really happy to see a haul from you. It's been such a long time. Reminds me how lovely you looked with the blond hair with all these pastel clothes. Hope you feel comfortable with the hair cut/color you've got right now. I know it was quite a journey.

    • @DieAlteistwiederda
      @DieAlteistwiederda 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      My last pair of glasses was "only" 115€ but only because they had some kind of promotion going on where all frames were free and then the lenses were cheaper as well.
      Otherwise my glasses would cost up to 300€, I definitely can not afford that and what is ridiculous is that I only have the standard nearsightedness without anything else being wrong with my eyes. My sight is bad still but also not as bad as it could be. Glasses people actually need to function should not be that expensive. We kind of not have a choice but to correct our vision in some way after all, it's an aid for a disability. A very highly accepted disability but it's still one.

    • @Flareontoast
      @Flareontoast 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DieAlteistwiederda totally agree. I also just buy glasses when they have a promotion going on unless I need new ones really badly. Because of how bad my eyes are, insurance covers some of the cost of new glasses but it's still a couple hundred euros usually. Glasses should be free! Or at least more affordable!!! I know it's like a part of the economy or whatever but that shouldn't be regular people's issue.

    I always would rather purchase from a low to mid range luxury brand then something high end like Versace or Gucci. I have a lot of unique and lovely pieces from Ted Baker and IMO, the quality is usually the same it just doesn't have the same mark up.

    If a dress has real buttons all the way down, you can also where it open as some sort of jacket/ kimono/ cardigan piece :)

    The blue mesh top: I wear my sheer tops under dresses/dungarees/waistcoats/sweater vests/corsets. I don’t like the effort of trying to get something to work underneath the mesh.

    My mum hurt her shoulder and love's to wear dresses but can't put them over her head so buttons all the way down is good for people who have low mobility. Not just older people but young people who can't put dresses over their head or step in. I know you could put a back zip but again people with low mobility buttons are great and gives people to be able to wear the clothes they like and have be able to dress themselves which is great

    Hi Alex! I absolutely love this video. Reaching out to you from Toronto, Ontario, Canada. So nice to see you posting new content. I wanted to mention that I went online, filled up my cart with amazing items and deals, only to find out that they don't deliver overseas. Truly disappointed but wanted to let you know. I thought you looked amazing (as usual) in all the items you purchased and am so happy that you are moving in a new direction as far as quality and material and sustainability. My Spidy-senses are telling me that you are going through a time of reflection and personal growth. I say that because I had moments where I thought...where has Alex gone! Why isn't she posting new stuff....
    Your content has helped me get through some tough personal times. I don't mean to put any pressure on you at all, just wanted to let you know that your spirit and soul has reached far beyond Sydney. I hope you are doing well and want to wish you all the best of health, happiness and safety. And thank you for all that you do. The earth is a large place, and the internet is even larger. I've thought of starting my own youtube channel for a while now, but the idea of exposing myself is frightening to say the least. I have been suffering from anxiety and depression and have ADHD. These diagnoses haven't stopped me from living a very active, fruitful life until this effing pandemic. So if you are experiencing any of these symptoms you are not alone. I have been told I'm an empath. So maybe that's why I thought mentioning these things were important. Not just for you but for all your viewers. it's important that we destigmatize mental health issues and promote conversation so that we can help eachother. I apologize if this is not the platform to do so, but what is...
    Thank you so much for being a light in the darkness Alex,
    Your Canadian friend, Robby.
    P.S. I can't figure out why I can't type a question mark...LMAO! Something wrong with my keyboard.

    To style the blue shirt with eyelet fasteners, I'd choose a bold color bralette. Either a neon color, (or for a more subdued look) a black, navy, chocolate color. Or, just find a light blue bralette to wear under-that would look like it was lined with another fabric underneath.

    I think a load of people need to realise that this is AUD. 2000 AUD is 1400(ish)USD and 1100(ish) GBP. So some of these things, although not cheap cheap, are not as expensive as they appear to be. Also Alex we need for hour long videos! 😁
