Rt.129 "Tail of The Dragon" SUCKS. Best road in East TN is Foothills Parkway. And in Ohio, if you want great driving roads, start in Loudonville & the Mohican State Park & go northeast to Peninsula to Cuyahoga Valley National Park. There's so many fun "back roads". Just watch out for Amish buggies.
Matt on the weight minimum to be excluded from vehicle mandates, specifically pickups. "We could make it so theres a penalty for that. We could make it not a write off". Listen to that again and tell me you didnt sound like a dictator. F*ck this states in trouble
The airstrip in Oscoda that Tony references was a former Air Force SAC base until 1992. Home to the 379th bomb wing...B-52s, B-58 Hustlers, KC-135s....cold war nuke base. Was called Wurtsmith AFB. There was another one in the UP called K.I. Sawyer.
the landscaper my landlord uses has a newer super duty to pull a small trailer. an f150 is cheaper and probably more efficient. seems ridiculous to have such a big vehicle for such a small task but must be for taxes.
1 pallet of Sod weighs 3000 pounds. Maximum payload of an F150, standard cab short bed lightest model btw, is 3100 pounds. Only 2200 pounds for the heaviest F150, crew cab long bed. Thats why your landscaper has a large truck. Dirt and plants are heavy. The Superduty also gives the option of diesel, which increases towing capacity to 31,000 pounds. Just with the grass clippings of 1 mower for the day will put the F150 into being dangerously overloaded.
Matt keeps saying this thing about the 04 Gallardo but didn't they not change to direct injection and 5.2 liters until the LP-560 facelift? So maybe 2008. The old motor may not be as stout but the even firing order may actually sound better than the newer motors. Maybe they changed something on that first 5.0 after 2004 aside from just gearing?
I'll always recommend the Cherohala Skyway to people (pronounced "chair-oh-hey-la"). If you're there to drive ToD, make your trip a big loop that includes the Skyway rather than driving ToD both ways. And stop to stretch your legs at either Huckleberry Knob (for the view) or Joyce Kilmer Forest (best old growth forest in the Appalachians), or both. Great day trip.
The thing about that M3 and M4 face is that the rest of the car is so subtle and thoughtfully designed. It looks overly aggressive and in your face by comparison. Then there’s the M2… which just looks kind of off from every angle.
I think the point mandating everything EV in 7 years is great. But people don't buy new Cars at that rate. Even if today everyone bought EVs there are still cars older than that on the road. You also have no tax being paid at the moment. Norway realised this last year, high EV usage and Greenpeace approved, but no usage based income for the state to repair and maintain the roads. Norway is a rich country as they sell oil. But even they saw the problem.

@@flipfloptanlines926 thanks for that explanation, I didn’t know that.
Tony is a great guest. Matt is the perfect host for these conversations. Thanks TST team

Drove the BMW e hybrid in Italy as a rental car from Sixt and I could never tell if the car was on or off it was so strange.
986 Boxster might be a contender for 8-12K euro manual sports car guy.
Damn I wanna know what kinda pen Honda handed out!?
Yeah we need more info 😅
Hey, I was one of those six...

@thesmokingtirepodcast, does the give away car come with a copy of Prince's Album 1999?
The pen and schwag conversation is SO interesting to me
Amscot has the worst pens trust me they're horrible
1000 euros for 16km/h over?! Wow.
Fost up best dressed
What bracelet is matt wearing?
It’s a Tiffany’s bracelet let he got for his bar mitzvah IIRC.
The thing about that M3 and M4 face is that the rest of the car is so subtle and thoughtfully designed. It looks overly aggressive and in your face by comparison. Then there’s the M2… which just looks kind of off from every angle.
So Matt is against the ev mandate ? But also against people that buy vehicles that it doesn't apply to ?
I think the point mandating everything EV in 7 years is great. But people don't buy new Cars at that rate. Even if today everyone bought EVs there are still cars older than that on the road. I’M ONE OF THE SIX PEOPLE! lol
"A Little Too Nice" should have been the title of this episode...
