“You’ll always know when you have the right torque, because the nut will be rounded off.” -Ave
LOL
Is was just thinking same...
So many is oblivious about proper torque... And using incorrect tools for tasks...
@@paristoalmost like these are for situations where speed is more important that nuts holding wires on being torqued. Must be a union worker hey??
@@spencebrooks7187 My point was, that too many people choose tools that gives them way too much torque, in exchange for the speed.
Example, thing that every car owner needs to be able to do is to swap tires. In many countries you need to swap tires twice a year, between summer and winter tires.
So you are swapping eight tires per year, unless you have flat tire.
But, when you swap the tire, you need to know what is a correct torque for the tire nuts. You just can't tighten them until you can't tighten more, as you destroy either the nut, the bolt or at least the deform the rim and so on cause more problems.
If you don't have proper torque, you will have loose nut/bolt and it will come lose in time, causing serious danger that tire will come off or cause steering problem etc.
So what people do, is that they either go cheap and they just buy tire iron and just muscle it tight, after spending time.
Or they want speed and they buy a expensive 400 NM impact wrench and happily run quickly the bolts/nuts in-out.
A common passenger car torque is 100-120 NM. That is fairly little, but difficult to achieve.
So people do not want to believe that you need two tools for easy job.
1) Low torque impact wrench, around 100 NM, a very common that you get from duo-kits with screwdriver.
2) Torque wrench. So you can dial the exact required torque and easily tighten the bolt/nut.
So when you do the tire exchange task every season, you can easily loose them with torque wrench being little higher (as in example 130 NM) and then run impact driver to quickly get them out, and then quickly drive them in without over torque as machine can only do about 100 NM.
Then you tighten them last with torque wrench just giving that 1/4 of a rotation for click.
Two tools for quick and correct tightening and loosening.
And similar is in many other tasks, as you don't need massive torque when using hand tools when you have something visual or physical that example specific nut needs to just be on flush with surface or something.
And that is reason why we have hundreds of tools for the same purpose, just for different
application.
Non union guys are always jealous because I make 4 times more money and can do 4 times the work. Because a contractor that pays me $100 an hour will fire my ass if I don’t run run run. Plus the non union contractors bid same exact price but they pocket all the money. I worked 12 years non union and so far 23 years union. Now I have a great pension

It's just so people who aren't electricans don't remove it
He just removed it temporarily to tighten the bolt and immediately replaced it, it's more so some idiot doesn't remove it permanently thinking it's in the way. It's much better that he tightened it as it's a ground connection and if not tight could cause someone to get electrocuted if the panel casing were to get electrified by a misplaced wire or something.

Oooooh I dunno. I've got a stealy that's older than my Dad that still does sterling services when needed (from back when they actually made tools in the UK).

i have a set of these, the problem arises when you are trying to wrench harder than finger tight
That's what I was wondering. This dude never cranked anything down. And the bolt he loosened, he only turned once.

They're called the joker series because when your mates ask you how .uch you paid for em and you say 176-250 pounds they'll think you're a clown...
These adjustable spanners I checked out the price if them, for what they do I can undo nuts and bolts a lot cheaper.
As for the insulation, well that is easy enough to overcome.
But I don't see why these adjustable are so expensive.
I bought 5 little 5 inch adjustable spanners which work really well had them for a few years now in various situations and they are still going strong, jaws open up to a 19 bolt head, 5 pounds.
If I need to remove a tough bolt I would not use an adjustable spanner as that would be begging for trouble, I use something more suited to the job, like a socket or a ring spanner.
But 180 plus pounds for these wrenches is way over the top.
You know he's serious when he gives us the finger wag.

I have the screwdriver set. Brilliant stuff.
it's a shame the cases are made to fail. After a few months of heavy use the internal pouches come loose and the sides flap open meaning all the parts fall into the rest of my tool bag. Not great and easily avoidable if they put tabs on the sides.
Brilliant, but £150? I just can't justify that.
Wera is all good except the price 😮
Pretty slick.
I thought this was a toy review for a sec, the colours really messed me up
