EPISODE 12 focuses on the lesser-known EXPANSION SET (2007) for the all-time classic board game The Pillars of the Earth by Michael Rieneck and Stefan Stadler. I owned this game for many years before I ever knew this expansion existed! For some reason, the expansion was never reprinted, so it is very hard to find these days. You can still find it, but you will likely have to pay, so hopefully this video helps you decide whether this expansion is worth finding & buying.

Quick interesting story... While I was searching the past month for a reasonably priced Expansion Set, I bought an extra Pillars of the Earth base game for my brother. When I gave it to him, he said he thought he already had an original copy collecting dust. When he brought it down, it looked half as thick as the base game, which was odd, but when I looked I was stunned as I was staring at an original Expansion Set still in its original dusty shrink-wrap. He was happy to have the base game and gifted me the Expansion Set so we both were very happy.
I often have more than 4 people over for company so having the extra 2 players is excellent. After playing the base game 4-5 times, the extra variety of craftsmen will be welcome. Joining it to the original board is like finding a long-lost 2nd half of a painting, so cool!. Looking forward to playing it in the coming weeks and hope they eventually reprint the Base game with the Expansion Set for more people to enjoy.

That's a great story!!! Thanks for sharing! Every game tells a story, and it's awesome to meet people who appreciate these old gems. I love your description of "finding a long-lost 2nd half of a painting" because that's exactly how I felt!!! Also, I am happy I could provide some help in learning it. It's pretty easy to learn, but it's always nice to have a video to refer to. I absolutely love this expansion, and I can't imagine playing without it now. The extra craftsmen add just enough variety to keep it fresh, and one of my favorite new decisions is the "crusades" area. It's so tempting to send your little dudes over there for some quick points. But errggh, then you're missing out on those all-important resource cubes!! It's such a tough and fun decision to weigh. Anyway, I am excited for you to get to experience Pillars in all its glory! Where's the best place to get an English copy of the rules as BGG has typed versions but not printable copies of the actual rules

That’s a good question! If I can find a moment, I will try to upload a PDF of the rulebook to BGG. It’s hard to believe it’s not on there, but sure enough, I can’t find it anywhere! I’ll let you know if/when I can make that happen. 😎
