This game is fantastic and in my top 3 with this expansion. I am really excited for Works of Wonder from the description on BGG. It sounds like there will be a new trait marker (to go with Virtue) with multiuse cards to go with it, and 5 "super buildings" that you can go after. I am like you and hope it doesn't add too many new mechanics, but I'm optimistic based on all of their previous expansions for their different games.
I wouldn't want to play Architects without the expansion. It's simple yet improves the game so much. Wife had multiple Enforcers last game and that was a huge mistake on my part. I'll never let that happen again.
The one thing the Artisan can do that you may have missed is one that I always forget about. The Artisan negates 1 virtue loss. Hire with the artisan and not loose an instant virtue or take the tax stand for only 1 virtue loss. I will never play the base game without the Artisans expansion. Just like the Valhalla expansion for Champions of Midgard. Some expansions are just essential.
Good review Luke I have glammed up my game a bit too - the marble I borrowed from Concordia and I have TM gold cubes. I use the metal coins from Raiders !!
I love the fact that Luke spent so much time sleeving the cards before the video and then unsleeving them afterwards, just to show that sleeves are an abomination and even holding the cards without dropping is hard. Such dedication!
This was still heavily voted on so I guess people didn't know that. Besides that was done years ago during my amateur times. Nice to give an update for this series.
Thankyou great video. As someone that has backed all of garphill games kickstarters from West Kingdom.. Have so enjoyed this game with my partner. And Artisans (like you say) helps with potential bottle necks; money and certainly black market in a 2 player game. This is such a great game, and like yourself, am looking forward to what i hope, a new expansion and big box? Anyway interested in your thoughts on where a new expansion would improve most?. im really hoping that it would involve something with building in the carthedral? Maybe gaining special workers that "can not" be captured to mitigate the new Artisian meeple?
I think just another simple way to gain points, maybe another construction option you can do. Or maybe some extra meat on the guardhouse prison mechanic or the virtue track to give it more impact.
Does this expansion elevate Architects over Raiders of the North Sea with both expansions for you? Have had a difficult time deciding which one to go with.
If you say that a game is good at six players, I'll take it as gospel. I know how you generally feel about adding more players to a game. I can't wait to try this one at the full player count.
Hmmm interesting, IMO its a bit pricy for exp that does not give a lot of new things, compared to the raiders exps id say its "weaker". Best part of this exp are big workers, they change dynamics in a good way. This is not to say, that I dislike it, it was just a small, and a 1st one, let down for me from Shem/Garphil games. Still, I love Shem/Garphil games, and will probably try to collect all of their games. :)

I did forget the virtue in the video, but not in my games.
I have this expansion but we've never got round to using it, I'll have to fix that this weekend.

Yeah lift is a pain but I can live with it. Obviously I'll grab a big box on release!

Never have I wanted small bits of marble more.
I have glass beads that match the color exactly. Super cheap, and then the Stonemaier Treasure Chest for the rest in this game.
Apparently, if the word Artisans is in an expansion's name, it almost automatically becomes a must buy. ;)

I liked base Architects more than expanded Raiders already despite loving both. Artisans takes it to a new level.

Artisan is OK but only used so often unless you harvest him up yourself. The tools are a much bigger impact.
