A Genesis-styled cover of The Death that I Deservioli, Lap 2 theme of Pizza Tower.
A few notes about the arrangement:
This tune is so fast and full of energy! It kinda reminds me of Sonic 2's special stage theme, but much more manic and gritty; Sonic is running for a Chaos Emerald, but Peppino is running for his life! Definitely an iconic song from the game and a regular in my exercise playlist.
This is my first arrangement using the Furnace tracker! Deflemask was unable to execute the effects I needed at the fast pace while Furnace could, giving me the last push to switch programs as I had been meaning to for a while. Furnace definitely gives the user more control over their work with a mixer panel, line by line playback, and tools like pitch macros and macros for FM instruments. It has taken me some time to make the switch but I highly recommend it for those confident in basic tracker skills and looking to make the best chiptunes possible.
Related to that, I spent a bit more time trying to intentionally mix this song. I try to restrict myself to tools in the tracker program so that the module sounds like the final video and WAV. Fortunately, Furnace's tools let me make volume tweaks much quicker than Deflemask. I've still got more to learn as far as mixing is concerned.
I have one or two more Pizza Tower songs in primitive stages, which will probably take some time to finish. Before that, I hope to release some songs I have on my computer that are in later stages of development. I also have some ideas about releasing a tutorial of sorts focusing on the chiptune workflow I've developed, to help some people get their start in working with trackers. Basically, a video resource for others that I wish I had when I started. If that sounds interesting to you, be sure to let me know in the comments, as well as any topics you want covered.
If you are a fan of covers like this, feel free to check out my previous works! I like a variety of games, so there is a decent selection.
If you have any suggestions or tips about the composition please let me know, I'm looking to improve!

This is the best remix of Death That I Deservioli I have ever heard. It has the right amount of notes at 1:07, amazing quality of the sound, and the fact that it's actually 3 minutes makes it more like the original version. Amazing job, buddy!
    Edit: reasons why

With how much Mega Drive covers people are making with Pizza Tower, someone oughta port the game to the console! It’s *the* homebrew machine after all!

The Mega Drive has a reputation for homebrew? I had no idea

@schizoposting9593 It doesn’t have to be a 1:1 port. There can be some animation cuts here and there; no way the game can handle ALL the animation in a 32 Mbit cart. As for performance, I can imagine some slowdown in areas, but the AI for enemies is pretty simple for the most part, and the sprites aren’t usually huge, so it’s nothing it couldn’t handle without dropping to 1/3 speed/20 FPS.
As for the Mega CD, all it does it give it CD audio/PCM capabilities and a slightly better CPU with zooming capabilities.

@FickleFilms There’s like 20 homebrew MD games that came out recently. Some include:
      Final Fight MD
      Mega Man The Sequel Wars
      Cave Story MD 0.8.0
      Mega Man X
Xeno Crisis (not *too* recent but still)
      And more

Glad to hear you liked the video! I am just a hobbyist so I am not too experienced with composition and don't have a ton of tips to offer, but one simple thing I would recommend is to listen to as much related content as you can. Listen to the same song covered by different people and try to pick out differences in their styles, listen to Genesis music for rpg/puzzle/action genres. There's also some great modern artists who use FM, like Landon Podbielski's Duck Game OST, Rainbowdragoneyes' The Messenger OST, and Jake Kaufman's Shovel Knight Dig OST (abides by restrictions of the YM2608 if I'm not mistaken). If you hear something you like, make a note of it (even if you don't know proper musical terms to describe it). I also make playlists of music for screens that most games have (title, menu, pause, etc.) to try and relate games' mood and theme to their music. With enough listening you can start to build an intuition for what is suitable for different parts of your game.
I have been considering gathering my last 2 years of experience with tracker software into a guide of sorts. If that sounds like it would be helpful to your gamemaking process and you have any specific questions let me know and I'll try to include answers to them!
