A Genesis-styled cover of Tubular Trash Zone, a level theme from Pizza Tower.
A few notes about the arrangement:
Although I would say all of Pizza Tower's music is great, this song in particular really stood out to me as one of my favorites. A great bass line, iconic samples, and distortion guitar solo are what cemented this one among my top picks.
A labor-intensive part of this arrangement was all the subtle and brief pitch bends! I had to use all the available pitch control commands (01xy, 02xy, 03xy, E1xy, E2xy, E5xy) in order to get them how I wanted. I also learned that they don't translate directly between FM and SN, meaning I had to do a whole new series of trial and error when applying them to the square waves :( Hopefully you like how it sounds and the effort was worth it!
I didn't realize it until I saw the actual track title, but it seems pretty obvious to me that the music is heavily inspired by Sonic and SEGA compositions. The word "Zone" is how Sonic describes each level theme, there's an emphasis on the bass line, and nearly all of the samples were used by Hideka Naganuma in the Jet Set Radio series. I don't think Sonic ever ran through a sewer, though... (never mind, totally forgot about Toxic Caves.)
If you are a fan of covers like this, feel free to check out my previous works! I like a variety of games, so there is a decent selection.
If you have any suggestions or tips about the composition please let me know, I'm looking to improve!

This track already had a Genesis feel to it, but this feels even better!
If Tubular Trash Zone was in Sonic the Hedgehog
That was a very tasty buffet of YM grit! Sounds a bit messy in guitar-heavy parts, but a great bop nevertheless. For "Sonic running through a sewer", check Toxic Caves from Sonic Spinball. :)
Yeah, the guitar part could benefit from some more work. And you're right, how could I have forgotten Toxic Caves!?
@@FickleFilms To be fair, Sonic doesn't RUN in Toxic Caves.
Check out the Savaged Regime cover of Toxic Caves too!
For a song that implies surfing through literal sh!t this is gold.
THIS SOUNDS SO MUCH LIKE A SONIC LEVEL WHAT THE GREEN HILL ZONE

we makin' it out of the sewers with this one 🔥🔥🔥
I think it's funny how this level (and, honestly, to me the slums as a whole) feels like a homage to the SNES and Genesis, but moreso the genesis in terms of theming and sound (although Tubular Trash Zone is the only one that I'd say has a lot of genesis feel, everything else feels either like it could be either console or just the snes) but honestly, with the title card and the pipes it def feels a bit mario-ish, but with the graphics and Middleage Non-mutant Ninja Pizzas, a lot closer to the genesis. Not sure how to properly put this into words.
This song really makes me want to thread through some sewers
OH SHiT!

Are you planning on doing Thousands March? I bet that one slaps hard on the Genesis
I have actually started a module for that one, I can't promise it will be finished any time soon but I'm definitely considering it. Still tweaking the leads and trying to pick apart the original.
