- Matty Healy of The 1975 performs an intimate, acoustic set as the surprise opener for Night 2 of the Phoebe Bridgers "Reunion Tour" at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles (22 October 2021). Performing a mix of new and "emo classic" songs, Matty is joined by Phoebe to close out the set with their collaboration off of Notes On a Conditional Form- "Jesus Christ 2005 God Bless America."

But I was livid, because I saw Phoebe the night before this video was shot...
At least I got to see Matty Healy perform at a Phoebe Bridgers gig once.

Imagine being a fucking rockstar and worldwide superstar like Matty and still look like he's going to play at his High School talent show when he comes out on stage - but not in a bad way. He's so humble and it makes these intimate acoustic sets so real and well.. intimate. Never change!

Wow! Jesus Christ 2005 God Bless America is such a Masterpiece! The 1975 is truly (in my opinion) one of the greatest bands in the last 10 years. Chocolate, The City, Robbers, Somebody Else, Sex, Jesus Christ 2005 God Bless America, Lostmyhead, Ugh!, Love it if we made it (perhaps their best), If i Believe you (no, perhaps this is the best), I always wanna die (sometimes) (no, this is truly their best)! Indeed, what a band!

Though, there are good songs (Yeah I Know, Jesus Christ 2005, People, Bagsy Not in Net, Frail State of Mind), as a whole it could be seem like a little bit pretentious album (22 songs) or simply a bunch of songs droped carelessly as a mirror of the fast food or fast fashion phenomena. Kind of "fast music" that make you sick by overwhelming... But some of its songs are quite good (in my opinion)

I think New York is gonna be an instant classic.
Sadly it’s not on the track list for the new album. Hopefully that changes before October. Maybe it’ll be a bonus track or on a deluxe version.
@@tannerholton1379 Matty addressed this on Reddit: apparently it’s actually an upcoming (?) song by Benjamin Francis Lefwich and matty added the bridge (now the bridge from “Part of the Band”). So it probably won’t come out as a 1975 song but still super down to hear it when it does.
His vocals are PHENOMENAL.

@@marck1728 matty has just said in the past that the lyrics for that song are lyrics for two separate unreleased songs, that he cut up and mixed together. Makes for a surprisingly effective critique on religion
New York is beautiful. Definitely one of my sleeper favorite songs by Matty. Resonated for sure … love ny don’t love the memories lol. Lived in the city at the same time he did or so it seemes.

Oh this overwhelmed my heart. Full of joy. Beyond happy seeing Matty back on stage and in his element. Nice to see the world slowly heading back to a sense of normalcy with concerts happening, and such.
This was so fun to see. Matty looks so happy to be on stage.
I still marvel over Phoebe's voice...1 1/2 yrs after discovering her music.

I hear a few notes that are sung off pitch on Matty's part (especially at 20:52), but i love it. I LOVE the fact that artists are still performing live without backing tracks, without auto-tune, and without pre-recorded vocals.
