- Ahead of the release of his sophomore album 'Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent', Scottish singer-songwriter Lewis Capaldi sits down with Zane Lowe for an intimate conversation about mental health, songwriting, and dealing with anxiety.
Lewis Capaldi talks about what makes him happy, writing from a perspective focused on pure emotion, and the anxieties that sometimes consume his creative process. Lewis shares that he’s been writing with Matty Healy of The 1975 for his upcoming album, sharing that he first heard a demo of “Looking For Somebody (To Love)”, and ended up creating a song together that's completely outside of Lewis's typical style. He shares the story behind his favorite song on the record called "How I'm Feeling Now" and his harsh reality of life in the spotlight.

I absolutely loved hearing Lewis talk about Matty, as one fan to another. Cuz he totally gets it, he totally gets who Matty is in a world where a lot of ppl are hating on him cuz they just don't get who he is. And it's always so great to hear other musician's thoughts on Matty and the band

It's only now, on the eve of Lewis' Netflix special, and after listening to "How I'm Feeling Now", that I can really appreciate this interview. "We hold you there", along with hearing Lewis say that this isn't a full time doom and gloom pronouncement on his life and career, makes total sense and is pretty reassuring. What a prequel to what's now and what's about to happen. Thanks, Zane.

omg! I feel the same way. He drove me nuts with all his directing the spotlight on himself and giving all this "sage insight and advice". That was crazy making for me.
I just watched his Hozier interview and he does the same 🤣 I understand it's a conversation but a lot of times the guest is speaking and building an idea or sentence and he cuts then off and introduces something about himself, always trying to draw back the attention to himself without circling back to what the guest was sharing, I wonder if he realizes he does this T_T
zane brings out the best in all the people he interviews...it truly is a gift he's developed over the year. Capaldi is great as well

Zane is great! There’s no par! Love the guy - he creates the environment, he opens it so the artists express themselves. He’s the man!
I always saw it as Lowe wanting to create the atmosphere of a conversation much rather than an interview. Not everyone likes this style, but I think it creates a nice environment.
