I’m just glad to see y’all pushing the budget brands. So many of the bigger whisky channels only care about the high dollar stuff that most normal people won’t buy.
That's the problem with Whiskey tube. You can only talk about budget stuff so much and it feels like you GOTTA cover all the new allocated releases. I think it's better to mix it up. Most of the audience is on a budget. They aren't buying Weller Millennium or OFC. There is no point in reviewing unicorn bottles. 2% of viewers, if that, will ever even taste Weller Millennium and maybe 0.5% will ever own a bottle. Guess how many viewers are in a position to buy a $20 bottle... like 95%. The other 5% are the strange viewers who don't drink but like to watch anyway.
Same here, I can't throw money at whiskey like I used to anymore - these dollar qualified tastings are nice to hear about. It is fine to be excited about a whiskey, as long as you mention "for a $20 bourbon... its exciting"
Yeah, we need more budget brands stepping it up. I do like the screw tops on budget bottles. I'm not buying any $400 bottle. I will rarely pay over retail, so I miss out on a few, but there are so many options I don't mind.
I could see Green River releasing a budget bottled-in-bond "version" of their 1885 in 2 or so years. This could be a stepping stone into the budget BiB market for them.
Their Bourbon, their Rye, and their Wheat just ordered. I will share those with our local whiskey tasting group. I'm a sucker for "Nice for the Price" spirits. Thanks fellas!
I havent tried the wheated, but the bourbon and rye are solid for $40. The full proof, damn good for $50. Id much rather spend the extra $10 for the full proof
Good review! My goto 1.0 L bottles in the $22-25 range include Old Grand Dad 80 & 100 proof, and also Early Times 100 proof. And including Jim Beam 7-year is a great comparison being right at $20 for 750ml and and $33 for the 1.75L in my area.
Never seen the beam 7yr in a 1L. Here in MA, i could have swarn the beam 7yr in a 750ml was $30-35. I wasnt a fan of it, at all. Even if it was $20. Way too heavy on the cheap peanut funk note beam pretty much always has. At least in Bookers and their higher proof and higher priced offerings, that peanut funk isnt as funky as their cheaper stuff.
Prices vary by market. The Beam 7-year is available in Texas in 750ml and 1.75L. It does not top Wild Turkey 101 for me. But I love it as an inexpensive daily drinker or cheap mixer.
Watched the Uncle Nearest video. Very impressed with the story and to learn the history. I like to learn the who and the why behind things that have shaped our country. I see those bottles in so many stores and have considered buying but never did. I am sure that in the NEAREST future I shall purchase one.
Yea i see the Uncle Nearest everywhere. Ive heard mixed reviews about their core line up. Ive typically always heard good things about their single barrels
Great video gentlemen, I will be looking for this bottle soon. Will enjoy comparing to my other Daily Sippers sitting on the shelf. I am very happy to hear that there are some distiller labels looking to the blue collar budget sensitive consumer. Lets be real as not all of us can afford the more luxury brands and labels as Trenton often enjoys! Smiles.... Thanks again guys and your coverage and content is very much enjoyed. Would be good to see Kent more often though as his interactions often with Trenton always brings a smile....
Thanks for sharing this one. I love the tasty budget bottles and have tried dozens of them with mixed results. Right now my favorites budget bottles are Early Times BiB and Very Old Bartons 100, this sounds like a release I really need to try.
Enjoyed this episode. These bottles for me are great starter pours in attempt to tune my palate and recognize the smells and flavors I tend to expect in most pours. These are also really solid for a quality mixer for bourbon cocktails. Really enjoying the stuff GR is doing and looking forward to a shelf staple alongside JBB7 and ET BiB (black top). Cheers
Seems like chill filtration would add cost to a product. But yes, its rare to see it eschewed in a budget product so i guess i see your point. I agree, cloudy good whiskey is fine :)
I DO like that Beam 7yr. I like it so much I had too much of it one evening...and, well....I was overserved. Still have the headache and it kinda ruined it for me. Hopefully I can bring myself to buy it again.
I finally found my early times bottled and bond last week Rogers Arkansas 1695 at Buster liquor what a great bourbon for the price. but I do like the Jim Beam seven better thanks Kurt and Trenton for pointing out excellent budget bourbons
JB7 is just making it in to my area, but I haven't seen one on the shelf yet. ET BiB is rarely ever on the shelves, maybe a handful of times a year, and it's usually around $38-40.
The producers of this new Green River edition made it clear before the release that their intention for it was to be used as a mixer. With that being the case, even at the low price point, I held off from snagging one recently. It's an interesting marketing strategy, a lot of the bourbon purists who only want something neat might be similarly hesitant to bother with it like I was.
The Jim Beam Winter Reserve or whatever is actually a decent upgrade over JB 7, if you ask me. It's finished in a toasted barrel but it's decent. It's a $25 bottle but drinks decent. It's not a great pour and probably gets dunked in a low proof lineup but in a pinch it's a passable pour. When I travel I don't often check a bag so If I buy a bottle I don't plan to take it home. Often I'll pop in a liquor store and find something cheap like a Redwood Empire, Benchmark Bonded, or similar to have some whiskey for the hotel room. There is zero chance I'd kill a bottle even if I was traveling for a week so I don't want to spend too much. The Winter Reserve would make the cut as something I would be happy to have in the hotel room knowing I'll end up trashing at least 50% of the bottle.
First y’all should do a distillery review for Green River if you haven’t recently. Also Trenton ya gotta snag the Green River rye if you haven’t yet. Such a phenomenal 95 proof sipper. Probably my favorite bottle rn.
I bought a bottle of this a month ago in Mi for $23.99. It is very good for the money, Didn't realize it was a liter until after purchase. Limited release in KY, IN, OH, TN, MI, TX, MD, DE and district of Columbia.
There is a fantastic bargin bourbon and rye that are made right in your backyard. Hard Truth's, Henry Sipes Double Oaked 90pr. Bourbon, and 90 pr Rye are an amazing bargain. Here in Wisconsin I can get both for $20/bottle. I like the Rye best, I suspect some or all the rye juice is sourced from MGP. At 90 pr they are now a go-to for mixed drinks. I really hope the Green River 1885 is eventually distributed in Wisconsin. I have a bottle of GR full proof, its now a high ranked favorite.
How would you compare the green river, early times, Jim beam to the Kirkland bottled in bond? Kirkland is also 1L BiB so just wondering how they compare
We just went through Cody Wyoming , they sell liquor at a store that’s part of a gas station, they had blantons just sitting on the shelf like no big deal , at mrsp which is less than mrsp in Michigan not that you can get it here in Michigan for mrsp
I love my Early Times. If the black tops are really better than the Sazerac juice, that has to be the best budget bottle ever. That all being said, the Green River Full Proof is my favorite bottle at that price point I think. 40$ at Costco. What a steal.
Green River is doing such a fantastic job. I'm on my second bottle of wheated. I am planning on picking up the rest of their offerings soon. If they don't listen to you guys and do a BiB, they are crazy. It would sell like hot cakes. Another great job guys.
Non-chill filtered at that price is rad. I haven't had a ton of experience with non-chill, but the ones I've had carry a nice honey sweetness I don't find in the chill filtered. I'd like to see this Green River up against Evan Williams 1783.
Nice! I hope it has better distribution than the other budget bangers. Early Times BiB, J.W. Dant... Not easy to find in most places, sadly. I'm with Kurt - budget bangers all day long. I'm tired of rolling the dice on $50+ bottles and seeing things like John J. Bowman close to $60 now... C'mon.
Tennessee Peanut Company They're family-owned and have some amazing products. They started out selling boiled peanuts at farmer's markets and fairs. Good people 👍🏻
I was getting down to my last few ounces of Early Times BiB, so was looking around town for it and NO ONE had it for over a month - almost 2 months. I managed to snag 2 bottles at a small liquor store I almost never go to. A couple places I asked around about mentioned the word allocated. If that's the truth - Sazerac is getting a little full of itself.
Reading the discriprion of Green River 1885 I see that Bardstown is positioning this whiskey as a bar mixer. From their website - "This unique bourbon recipe (mashbill) is presented at 85 proof, aged four years, and blended to taste with bartenders’ creativity in mind." Not a bad idea to get a low priced product into bars as a wedge to follow with a push for other Bardstown products into the on-premises marketplace.
Green River released this targeted to bartenders. The shape is different from their other bottles to fit in the well and easier to grip. GR sees this as a mixer with a good flavor profile. The slogan is: “Make mine an ‘85”.
Like the 100 proof Old Grand-Dad, but you get a liter for 85 proof. I am also a fan of the 100 proof Early Times blue top and the 90 proof Bernheim Original Wheat Whiskey, prices from $21 to $31. I am sure Wild Turkey Rare Breed is better, for more money.
In 1961 four whisky drinkers on a hunting trip had a box of booze….Early Times, was the least liked for, with all 4. Jus saying. FYI….. I dunno ! The only other bottle that I recall was Old Grandad……. Thx
I’m just glad to see y’all pushing the budget brands. So many of the bigger whisky channels only care about the high dollar stuff that most normal people won’t buy.
ADHD whiskey just did a review on Jim Beam Devils cut
Absolutely.
That's the problem with Whiskey tube. You can only talk about budget stuff so much and it feels like you GOTTA cover all the new allocated releases. I think it's better to mix it up. @@apeekintime well said!
The look on Trenton's face when Kurt says this is the most proud of him he has ever been... 🤣🤣🤣
"I once saved your life, dad!!!"
"Eh... I'm sure I woulda made it either way."
I appreciate it when you showcase the budget bourbons, as my liquor budget is not the highest. You are my go-to bourbon channel.
Same here, I can't throw money at whiskey like I used to anymore - these dollar qualified tastings are nice to hear about. It is fine to be excited about a whiskey, as long as you mention "for a $20 bourbon... its exciting"
Love that you guys do the budget Bourbons on the show. I think more Distillerys should come out with a good $20 line.
Green River across the board is an incredible value. That $50 Full Proof is so good.
Just picked one up. Haven't tried yet but looking forward to it. 😊
Bourdon on a budget....gotta love it!
Cheers from Manitoba!
Love it. Especially with the financial drumming we're taking right now. Thanks!
All the Green River current offerings are well-priced and really good. Will be looking forward to finding this one.

Love it as always gents. Have you tried the Coopers Craft 100? I’m sure you have but I think it fits in this category
I tried a few different green river products at bardstown recently. Their full proof bourbon is awesome and is also pretty darn budget friendly
Appreciate the video! My go-to in this price range is JTS Brown.
I rate it equally high given that I can get a 1.75L for the same price as this. I drink plenty of whiskey!
Early Times is still $17 in my area. Love it.
Love seeing the budget bottles! I can’t spend a lot on my bar, but I like adding & trying new bourbons so these give me great recommendations.
love that you brought up a budget and were honest about it !
Watched the Uncle Nearest video. Very impressed with the story and to learn the history. I like to learn the who and the why behind things that have shaped our country. Yea i see the Uncle Nearest everywhere. Ive heard mixed reviews about their core line up. Ive typically always heard good things about their single barrels
Just got a single barrel store pick @ 122.2 proof and it Awesome !
Love the budget bourbon reviews. Fantastic videos guys! Cheers!
I can get the one litre early times BIB here in Jax for $18.99 every day…. So good and a great mixer
Love this! GR fan so I will definitely be looking for it. Thanks guys!! Cheers! 🥃
Bardstown/Green River just continues to put out decent and even really good stuff at reasonable prices.
Love that Green River wheated and rye but have not seen this bottle yet!
The Jim Black 7 is excellent! Hard to find ET BiB now. Thank you for your videos. I would have never tried Jim Beam 7! Love your stuff!
Great video gentlemen, I will be looking for this bottle soon. Will enjoy comparing to my other Daily Sippers sitting on the shelf. I haven't seen either Early Times BiB here, nor anything from Green River. But I really like the Jim Beam 7 year whisky.
Loved the wheated GR crushed my bottle. Waiting for the GR SLB pick. Will definitely look out for this one.
Cheers
I bought a bottle of Green River Full Proof the other day, and it's really good.
Need some Very Old Barton 100 in that mix for $18/1L. Looking forward to getting that GR1885, thanks for the review!
Need to add Bemchmark into the mix with budget bourbons!
All I heard was I like a little grit in my bourbon cowboy in a John Wayne kinda voice-love the budget bourbons. That Jim Beam 7 is great!
Love all of the Green River options. Especially the Full Proof. Definitely will be picking this up for my own line up against JB7
Love Green River wheated bourbon but just picked the full proof. Very good!🤠. If I see the 1885 I’m buying. Thanks fellas👍🍻
Benchmark Small Batch is very good. It's sitting right next to my Beam 7.
I love the Green River line. Keep it up guys!
If you ever see Blue Steel from Fairhope brewing. Try it. Amazing sour. I don’t like sours but this one is amazing.
Seems like chill filtration would add cost to a product. But yes, its rare to see it eschewed in a budget product so i guess i see your point. I agree, cloudy good whiskey is fine :)
In Michigan in Total Wine the Green River Bourbon 750 ml $34.99
4.6 out of 5 stars
I purchased the Jim Beam 7 at my local Sam's club for 16.95. very solid bourbon, and hard beat at that price.
The local discount store in the Baltimore/ DC area ( Total Wine) sells it for $38 . Where’s it sold for $21 near me?. Thanks and love your show.
I DO like that Beam 7yr. I like it so much I had too much of it one evening...and, well....I was overserved. Still have the headache and it kinda ruined it for me. Hopefully I can bring myself to buy it again.
Good on Green River for rolling out this new offering. There is always room for a budget banger!
That sour beer was pretty good and I don’t care for them either. Def was a fun hangout and ready to do that again
I finally found my early times bottled and bond last week Rogers Arkansas 1695 at Buster liquor what a great bourbon for the price. but I do like the Jim Beam seven better thanks Kurt and Trenton for pointing out excellent budget bourbons
Would y'all have any suggestions on a bourbon for a hurricane party! Thanks in advance. Great show as always! Cheers!
I just bought one liter of OF100. $22. Not bad
JB7 is just making it in to my area, but I haven't seen one on the shelf yet. ET BiB is rarely ever on the shelves, maybe a handful of times a year, and it's usually around $38-40.
Hoping I can find this in my area. I enjoy the Early Times, but not a fan of the Jim Beam 7….even for the price. Love the budget bourbon shows.

Wow I don’t understand how VA can have the full proof on the shelves but not this one, I’m still looking for ET BiB it’s so frustrating here
The Benchmark bonded & single barrel were my favs for about $20. Think this is better?
Sounds like an addition of a new primer pour for me. 🥃
The wheated at $28 is a slam dunk.
Agreed. I don't like it as much as the Weller SR but I can actually find the Green River Wheated every time I go to the store.
Glad to see you two are still at it!! Stopped tuning in since here in PA we can't get anything you guys sample besides the simple stuff. It sucks!!
The Jim Beam Winter Reserve or whatever is actually a decent upgrade over JB 7, if you ask me. It's finished in a toasted barrel but it's decent. It's a $25 bottle but drinks decent. I'm currently nursing my Green River Full Proof. If my local store is selling this already, I will be stocking up when I get off of work 😂

You can get Hard Truth's in Wisconsin? That's incredible. I live around an hour from the distillery here in Indiana.
Buffalo Trace Store picks are my budget Bourbons lol I do like MM 101 Knob Creek 9 and 1792 Small Batch as far as the cheaper side
Trenton really took that "proudest moment" comment personally yesterday 😆
I love my green river ive went through several bottles so far 😂
You should try one of my favorite budget bourbons Old Bardstown.
I was a little surprised to find that I liked the new JB 7 over WT 101 in general.
How would you compare the green river, early times, Jim beam to the Kirkland bottled in bond? Kirkland is also 1L BiB so just wondering how they compare
Wish I could find ANY Green River in the Seattle area. Still searching for the wheated. But I can find the Early Times for about $23, before taxes.
We just went through Cody Wyoming , they sell liquor at a store that’s part of a gas station, they had blantons just sitting on the shelf like no big deal , at mrsp which is less than mrsp in Michigan not that you can get it here in Michigan for mrsp

How would it compare against Benchmark small batch or single barrel?
That single barrel benchmark is great! Haven't had the small batch yet.
I found a 1.75L bottle of Woodford Reserve for $45, yummy bourbon, and that price! I'm going back to buy a couple more bottles if it's still on sale.
so wish you guys were neighbors ... would love to just drop in or vice versa ... definitely going to be a good time
Most bars and Restaurants are mandated to buy in Litres, especially in New York.Off premise is a HUGE market.
Green River is doing such a fantastic job. I'm on my second bottle of wheated. I am planning on picking up the rest of their offerings soon. If they don't listen to you guys and do a BiB, they are crazy. It would sell like hot cakes. Another great job guys.
The wheated is outstanding for $28
I picked up my 2nd bottle for $23!
So I just left Green River distillery. I was told 1885 was not gonna be for sale to general public. It was made for bars for a low end mixer.
C'mon.
Wild turkey 101 and buffalo trace are still the $20 goat imo
WT 101 is awfully difficult to beat at the price point. Good stuff.
All Green River offerings are quality, so this doesn’t surprise me. Got my hands on a Full Proof and it’s incredible considering it was a $40 bottle.
Great video!
You guys should do a Green River show...
Wild Turkey 101- $22 out here in CA. My go to "cheap" whiskey
Tennessee Peanut Company
They're family-owned and have some amazing products.
I can’t find early times, been trying for years….I’m in Chicago area.
This price point makes me think of the Benchmark series to compare to
interesting to see a non-chill filtered 85 proof bourbon
Trenton, you're crazy! 🤯 I'm a California girl, and even I LOOOOOOOOVE Boiled peanuts!!!!!! (And no, not Southern California either!) 😅
JBB7 is currently my Bronze standard bourbon, if I wouldn't rather drink something than JBB7 I will not buy another bottle.
Green River released this targeted to bartenders. The shape is different from their other bottles to fit in the well and easier to grip. GR sees this as a mixer with a good flavor profile. The slogan is: “Make mine an ‘85”.
Great video
Like the 100 proof Old Grand-Dad, but you get a liter for 85 proof. I am also a fan of the 100 proof Early Times blue top and the 90 proof Bernheim Original Wheat Whiskey, prices from $21 to $31. I am sure Wild Turkey Rare Breed is better, for more money.
Is the Green River widely available?
In 1961 four whisky drinkers on a hunting trip had a box of booze….Early Times, was the least liked for, with all 4. Jus saying. FYI….. I dunno ! The only other bottle that I recall was Old Grandad……. Thx
You guys should try JW Dant!
J W Dant is better than JTS Brown in my book.
Jw dant is very good juice 👌 Cheers 🥃
JTS Brown is way better than Dant. The Dant I had was hot as, well, fuck! It was bad.
@@sn1000k As soon as I find some JTS Brown, I will try it. I don't think JW Dant is hot though.
Best budget bourbon here in southern Cali is Larceny, only $18.99 for 750ml
