Thrilled to see New Riff on your list. I live in the Cincinnati area and belong to the whiskey club. Those special released are truly special. Be sure to visit the Aquifer Bar when you are there - they have an extensive whiskey library of many of their limited releases and have great cocktails too.
As an Iowan, I love seeing Cedar Ridge on the list. I’m by now means a single malt enthusiast, but they are doing great things in that realm. I’m a huge fan of their double barrel and barrel proof bourbon!
That Glenallachie bottle is actually a distillery bottling, and is part of their Single Cask expressions, which are amazing. Great seeing Trent loving Scotch, welcome to the dark side! 😅
Before I even start watching, lemme list mine. 1. Balcones Distilling - this outfit produces the most densely flavored, assertive, gorgeous whiskies I've ever had. 2. Jim Beam - between Knob Creek 9 and Old Grand-Dad (Bonded and 114), this distillery is *much* better than the white label pablum would lead you to suspect. 3. Heaven Hill - Larceny, Evan Williams Bottled In Bond, and Mellow Corn put this one on the list. 4. Jack Daniel's - the black label is barely good, but Jack Daniel's Single Barrel Barrel Proof is superb juice. And the sample of the 10 year that I had was almost as good. 5. Sagamore Spirit - I'm a bourbon guy, and drink rye only now and again, but these guys do a superb rye whiskey. 5:13 MGP is the big distillery. Ross & Squibb is the name under which they produce their own brands. And Lux Row is a distillery that MGP recently bought. Pretty soon MGP's going get so big that it owns umpteen distilleries and brands, like Diageo and Brown Foreman and Beam Suntory. 🙂
Living in the Midwest, I have to shout out Driftless Glen. The finishing they've been doing lately is amazing, and their regular flagship products are also fantastic. I love their ryes now. If you get to Baraboo, they have a tequila aged in bourbon that's easily the best tequila i've ever had. They have some bourbon-aged gins as well.
Jim Beam takes heat sometimes but in terms of great value whiskey they are crushing it. Single barrel, extra aged, Overholt Monogahela and 114, all fantastic at a fantastic price.
Corbin Cash is my current favorite farm/distillery. Recently visited their location in central California. David was so great an knowledgeable to talk with. Their single barrel ryes are so good, and I had a sample of a 6 year single barrel bourbon at 146proof that was out of this world. Highly, highly recommend.
Glad to hear some love for Still Austin. Great bourbon and a great company using locally sourced Texas ingredients. Their red and blue corn BIB series were incredible. 🥃
I'm from Louisiana and have used Riceand rice since I was a kid. Prolly had their crawfish too without knowing. My Great Grandma used to make the best baked rice pudding. Recently discovered, I was a bit surprised with JT Meleck tasting like sweet maple and brown sugar heavy syrup pudding. Absolutely fantastic dessert dram, can't wait to taste the cast strength!
A really nice video. While I am leaving a comment, I might as well give you my top 5 distilleries. My first one Green River. Great price, great liquid. Can't wait to try the full proof. No. 2 is Spirit of Texas with their Pfluger Single Malt - just gorgeous. No. 3 is Glenglassaugh. While I am sad that their core has been replaced when Brown-Forman bought them back in February, but the new core is just as good (almost), but different. No. 4 is Starward from Australia. Their wine cask finished single malts at 82 proof are remarkable with such flavor. No. 5 is Rebecca Creek. In my opinion, the best double oak for the price and proof. Cheers!
Doc Howard’s Distillery in Perry, OH is putting out great tasting whiskey! It’s a smaller distillery, they always seem to be experimenting with flavors and types! Kilted Whiskey-Scotch style is a favorite!
Love the show as always. Being from Texas, I will say Ironroot has some amazing stuff. Icarus is one of my favorites. The latest Apotheosis VI Triple Sherry Cast is also amazing among others. Cheers guys!
Single Malt suggestions: Cotswolds out of the UK. Their offerings are all cask strength. Their base single malt is $57ish and excellent. The sherry finish is very good and $90ish. The Bourbon finish is amazing and also $90ish. They all come in around 55-60abv but you'd never guess that when drinking them. Two Colorado distilleries that are putting out very good single malts are Boulder Distillery and 291 Distillery. Some of the limited releases from 291 are a little pricey but fantastic whiskey. Couldn't agree more on the Westward offerings. Cheers.
New Riff, Ben Holladay, Heaven Hill, and Jim Beam are my favorites right now. From New Riff, the single barrel and 8-year are my favorites. I got a Ben Holladay One Barrel store pick and it’s really good stuff.
Normally when I see people rave about a newer distillery, I can't get their products here in Michigan. I am so glad I can get Hard Truth and am going to grab a bottle or 2 next time I stop in my favorite liquor store. I'm a wheated guy, but anxious to try the 4 grain you like as well.
Redwood empire quickly became my favorite distillery this year, has overtaken many if not all of the ‘legacy’ distilleries that used to be my top choices
Every video is exciting to see what Trentons hair is going to be like 😆 🤣 😂 I had one strand of hair sticking straight up yesterday and my wife laughed at me, but Trenton takes it to the next level 😆 🤣 😂
Garrison Brothers for bourbon! Not sure why they don't get more love. It used to be price, but their single barrel picks are in the same ball park in terms of price as the recent 13th Colony pick.
I love all the Hard Truth that I’ve had so far. You need to try some of the other Indiana whiskeys I’ve had recently. West Fork Wheated Bonded and Bloody Butcher out of Westfield are amazing! Also, I had the Travelers Point cask strength out of Kirkland Indiana. Absolutely blew me away.
Trent, since you like the Glenallachie, your next one to try is GlenDronach. Absolutely incredible especially if you can find a single cask or barrel proof batch (batch 12 now)
Ardbeg, Knob Creek, Sagamore, Wild Turkey, and Heaven Hill I think are some of my favorites right now. Just recently started getting into peated scotch and Ardbeg is really good, I currently have the 5 year Wee Beastie and Uigadail and both are amazing whiskies. If I remember correctly Knob Creek is a Jim Beam product, and I like the KCSB more than I do Rare Breed, it's just better, and from what I've heard, it's even the same mash bill as WT products but with a slightly higher proof point and non chill filtered, that bottle is a budget juggernaut in my opinion it's so good for only &50. So far I've only experienced the Sagamore DO rye, and it's so good, a tad pricey but still really tasty, and I'm looking forward to trying some of the other releases from Sagamore. I can't honestly claim to be a huge fan of Wild Turkey, I need to try more of their offerings, but 101 is fine for cocktails, neat it's just ok, Rare Breed did not live up to the hype for me, I might buy one more bottle to see I just got a bad batch or something but after that, if it's not that good, I'll probably be done with that bottle for a long while at least, but Russel's Reserve Single Barrel is really good stuff and I'm very curious about their 6 year rye, single barrel rye, and Rare Breed rye. Best thing coming out of Heaven Hill right now in my opinion is Larceny Barrel Proof, I currently have the C923 and the A124, but I really wasn't impressed by Elijah Craig B523, it was just really spice forward with not much on sweetness and the finish just kinda fell flat for me. Really hoping I can get Larceny B524 and C924, I'd love to do a blind between those 4 Larceny Barrel Proof offerings.
I really hope you guys come out to PA sometime to get some real PA Rye. Liberty Pole, Ponfeigh, Dad's Hat, and Stoll & Wolfe really do some great juice.
Could not agree more about what Jim Beam is doing, as well as with the New Riff and J.T. Meleck. Have not been able to find any Hard Truth in Ohio yet or the cask strength Westward, but will keep looking until I get some. Also want to try Cedar Ridge and Still Austin products. Now, what say we all chip in and buy Trenton a comb???
I 100% trust Westward. If that's where it tastes the best then I believe them. I also had a chance to taste the Isle of Raasay. It's a little young but there is a very nice combination of floral and spice. It's a great 1st bottle from a new distillery. In a couple of years they are going to really be something the same way Ardnamurchin has become the new hot Scotch brand.
Mune are Hard truth cask strength rye is amazing, Founders Distillery out of NC is really good and I love starlight distillery also Colkegan single malt is awesome 😃
I am surprised that Trenton didn't care for the Still Austin Cask Strength Rye. However, I have only purchased the SPEC'S store pick (single barrel cask strength), so I could only recommend that he get a sample of a fantastic store pick!
I have fallen in love with Westward Single Malt. I only own the single barrel Cask strength picks. I love T8ke's pick from Seelbach's and Barrel Tap has a store pick that's good but not as great as T8ke's. I've thought on getting the lower proof reglar releases, but I've been afraid that I may not like them. What do you think? Should I give them a shot?
Request: Blind tasting - Whisk(e)ys around the world. I would really enjoy watching you guys tasting a Bourbon, Scotch, Japanese, Canadian and Irish (...) Whisky all blind.
If you guys have not tried Crittenden’s Distillery in Kiln, Ms y’all need to check him out. Such great juice. Their 6 year Family Reserve and 5 year DO are great, and they are doing some awesome finishes.
You know, sometimes while I'm watching, I'm looking over at the bottles behind you guys wondering what's up there. Have you ever done something like a bar tour? A bottle has caught my eye, just over Trent's right shoulder, (left from my pov), and it doesn't look like y'all have gotten into it much yet, but for some reason it looks interesting.
If you haven't tried the recent releases of Still Austin's Cask Strength Bourbon, you are missing out. One of the best sips out there for a $60 bottle.
So I live near Cedar Ridge and have been drinking bourbon for 30+ years and don't really care for their bourbons. That being said I just picked up a store pick bottle of a 7yr Rye from them and it's very good.

Have you guys heard of Cask House? They have a fantastic rye whiskey aged in ex bourbon barrels. Bottled at 107 proof and costs about $20. I’d be glad to send you a bottle if you don’t have access locally and would want to review it.
Though I'd try American Single Malt and bought a bottle of Westward cask strength. Brought it home, took a couple of sips, and couldn't finish it. Poured the rest of the glass down the drain. This stuff is horrible! It starts out so lovely and then the malt finish ruins it! Trash. Love the Still Austin! On my 4th or 5th bottle of single barrel, barrel strength.
I tried a Claremont Steep as my first american single malt. Man I couldn't hack it at all. It tasted like moss. I haven't dumped it yet but I have no palate for it whatsoever.
You guys have quickly become not just my favorite whiskey tubers, but among my favorite TH-camrs!
Thank you so much!
He looks like a monk in training 🤣
You took the words out of my iPad.
He reminds me of Robert Downey Jr. in the Satan’s Alley trailer in Tropic Thunder😂
Thinking the same thing

Love to see the Cedar Ridge love, been sipping on their stuff for years and it's only getting better! Cheers from Iowa

That Rebel Small Batch Reserve is my go-to budget pour at the moment. I always stay stocked up for $29.99 at Binny's
I am from Cedar Rapids, IA and so nice to hear Cedar Ridge reviews from you. Glad to hear Cedar Ridge getting some hype. Another great video.
Before I even start watching, lemme list mine.

Sagamore. Their own distillate products are great. The port and vino de naranja are also decadent. Love everything they do

Kurt I appreciate you using nice whiskey in cocktails. I made an old fashioned with a found north single barrel pick and it was out of this world
My favorite small distilleries I've discovered recently are Andalusia Whiskey Co., 1845 Distilling Co., and Spirit of Texas
For me, Redwood Empire and Sagamore rose to the top the last 2 years and they're definitely staying there.
Hoodie Trent has been unlocked!
Redwood empire quickly became my favorite distillery this year, has overtaken many if not all of the ‘legacy’ distilleries that used to be my top choices
Sabbatical Distillery out of Stockton/Delta area is doing great stuff. Just did a group tasting Sunday and it was very good and not too $$$.
Can we get a cocktail video of the Boulevardier recipe with the Westward?? I know Kurt has been itching to pull that apron off the wall!
Every video is exciting to see what Trentons hair is going to be like 😆 🤣 😂 I had one strand of hair sticking straight up yesterday and my wife laughed at me, but Trenton takes it to the next level 😆 🤣 😂
I have a chance at a jd barrel proof rye at 80 dollar's with delivery if it's still available Thursday I'm buying!
About JT Meleck, rice and corn are both high on the glycemic index. All of those natural sugars make for good whiskey when done right.
Garrison Brothers for bourbon! Not sure why they don't get more love. It used to be price, but their single barrel picks are in the same ball park in terms of price as the recent 13th Colony pick.
Probably don't get much love because they are pricey. A lot of their bottles go for over $100 a lot so price is still a problem.
Also doesn't help that a lot of whiskey YTers have it out for Texas whiskey.
Trenton. I am getting in to scotch too. Try the Balvenie Double Wood. Not peated but amazing
Trent, since you like the Glenallachie, your next one to try is GlenDronach. Absolutely incredible especially if you can find a single cask or barrel proof batch (batch 12 now)
I actually have a few of those, been diving in slowly but have been impressed so far! Appreciate the recommendation my friend!

If you can find it, resurgent whiskey from botanery barn distillery in PA is 👌🏻👌🏻
Fellas, Great video as always … thanks for the info on the OGD 16.
I really hope you guys come out to PA sometime to get some real PA Rye. Liberty Pole, Ponfeigh, Dad's Hat, and Stoll & Wolfe really do some great juice.
With you guys being locals in valpo area have you ever reviewed journeyman distillery ?
Sticking to Iowa Templeton known for Rye came out with 1st Bourbon this year and is pretty darn good. Cheers 🥃

I love JT Meleck, Middle West, and I know they’re a NDP but I do love River Roots Barrel Co. too
Westward is by far my favorite “new to me” distillery!
Hard Truth rocks! If you got on the ATV tour you can get a special single barrel of rye that is amazing
Jim Beam is also bringing out a Toasted Finish this year. Knob Creek Rye 10 Year is here. I love being a Beam fan this year.
I’ve mentioned the distillery to you guys before the dancing goat in Wisconsin

Glenn’s Creek, Crittenden distillery, peerless, new riff and Frey ranch
Great video. Love your content.
Westward's Milestone is in my top 5 favorite whiskeys. It is so so good.
I am surprised that Trenton didn't care for the Still Austin Cask Strength Rye. However, I have only purchased the SPEC'S store pick (single barrel cask strength), so I could only recommend that he get a sample of a fantastic store pick!
@slbdrinks....Westward is hitting homeruns...the Cask Strength and Milestone are wonderful!
Art of the Spirits out of Colorado Springs is doing some really cool things. They are also big supporters of Veterans. Check them out.
What about Glenn’s creek. I’m going there next month because of you guys raving about it.

Btw, it looks to be on the top shelf, if that helps.
Ross and Squibb is definitely putting out really good whiskey!!
always great
Good Morning Guys!!
If you haven't tried the recent releases of Still Austin's Cask Strength Bourbon, you are missing out. One of the best sips out there for a $60 bottle.
I agree with you. The Still Austin Cask Strength bourbon is my go to favorite right now... The best sub 60 bottle out there in my opinion
love the cask strength
So I live near Cedar Ridge and have been drinking bourbon for 30+ years and don't really care for their bourbons. That being said I just picked up a store pick bottle of a 7yr Rye from them and it's very good.
Which store did that rye pick? I’d love to pick one up…

Living not far from Cedar Rapids, Cedar Ridge is my favorite. Hands down.
Driftless Glen, Jim Beam is killing it right now. Buzzard's Roost.
I can't wait to try the Hard Truth BIB, especially the Four Grain. Can't find it here yet. :(

Yeah bring the new bottles !!!
