Installing a Velvet Drive transmission on a V8 Crusader Marine engine. Part one getting it into position. Please leave a comment, question or criticism. ( All criticisms will be taken as constructive. )
I wanted to do a transmission install and engine alignment video but by the time I got around to it was too dark. Now that I know people are interested I'll make a video of my next one.
Rebuild cost varies depending on the damage on the transmission As for alignment if you don't Touch the heights on the mounts it shouldn't be far off. It doesn't hurt to double check with a feeler gauge in between the couplings Just remember to do it in the water because the hall flexes a little bit on blocks 🙂
Hey. Thanks for making the video. So you think this could be done in the water? I was just gonna slide the prop shaft back for clearance. I think my forward clutch pack is blown. Lost forward but reverse is fine.
I don’t know how much that one ways but in my tayana 55 I just pulled mine out of a 6354-4 its a little bigger . I’d say 200 pounds. Tomorrow I have to try and pick it up by hand and go up the companionway to get it rebuilt. The jury is still out on if I can.
Thanks for making vid. But we do get the dropping it down. I wanted to see taking it out and installing it. My trans just stopped going in forward
Check your shift cable
I checked cable first. turns out there was no fluid.
Nicely done avoiding punching a velvet-drive shaped hole in your hull! Is there a part two?

I've done it in the water many times
What are the torque settings for the installation bolts?
Just make sure they're tight with red lock tight
How much does it weigh

Got 1/4 way through and the music and floppy strap did me in, good bye!
The music is annoying
